EVSPIN32G4-DUAL – Motor parameter measurement without Motor Profiler (Single Shunt)

Dear ST Technical Support Team,

I am currently working with the EVSPIN32G4-DUAL evaluation board.

I understand that this board uses a single-shunt current sensing topology, and therefore the Motor Profiler feature in Motor Pilot is not available (Profiler requires three-shunt current sensing with STO-PLL).

In this context, I would like to ask for ST’s recommended procedure to obtain the following motor parameters when using EVSPIN32G4-DUAL:

• Stator resistance (Rs)
• Inductances (Ld / Lq or equivalent)
• Back-EMF constant (Ke)

Could you please advise:

1. Whether ST recommends specific manual measurement methods for these parameters with single-shunt hardware
2. Which Application Notes or User Manuals describe this procedure
3. Any best practices for entering these values into MC Workbench for stable FOC operation

I'm having the exact same issue. Using an evstspin32-g to obtain the motor and now want to use it on a dual but does not work at all. And the post STuser2 posted, I'd say did not really help since the motor can't spin at all on dual.

I configured the motor settings by referring to the motor setup guide document as described below and then performed the setup using the Motor Profiler.
After that, when I measured the parameters using the method you provided that does not rely on the Motor Profiler, I observed the following differences.

 

 

Motor Profiler results:
Rs: 4.43, Ke: 4.58

Measurements using a multimeter and an oscilloscope:
Rs: 4.65, Ke: 3.677

Could you please advise what level of deviation between these two measurement methods is considered acceptable?
I would appreciate your confirmation.
