Question

Motor wont start

Hello, I have a custom board based on the EVSPING4 Dual, the schematic is the same with the difference being no speed sensors and different mosfets. When I try to start the motor with motorpilot the speed is climbing in Motor Pilot but the motor is not spinning, after some seconds I get the error Start Up Failure. Motor Voltage and Voltage for the Gate Drivers are 12V. I measured the Phases of the motor and the Gates of the mosfets. The Phases are all on 12V as are the Gates of the top Bridge side. I added my schematic down below.

Hello @QuirinS,

To do the bring up of a new board, the first step is to enable the open-loop support in the MCSDK, and then in the Motor Pilot you can select Open loop voltage, once the current shape is OK you can move to Open loop current. The open loop configuration is fully described in the User manual that you can find from teh MC Workbench: About->Documentation, it will open a new navigator window, and then it is in User Manual->Open loop Description and Usage.

Please, dump your current Ia, Ib in open loop voltage mode in your reply.

Regards

Cedric

Thanks for the reply

This is the capture in Open loop voltage

and this in open loop current

I forgot to mention that the shunt i am using is 1mOhm

i had difficulties controlling the motor at higher voltages when i used 1.1mOhm shunt resistor, then i moved to 2.2mOhm (i had two 2.2mOhm in parallel, i removed one) now i am able to control the motor better.
