Question

Parameter configuration for High Speed BLDC Motor

Hello,

I am below Hardware and Software setup:

Hardware:

MCU Board: NUCLEO F401RE

Power Board: X-NUCLEO IHM08M1

BLDC Motor: Portescap 22ECP45-8B-154.01 (specifications_22ecp45.pdf attached)

Software:

MC Workbenach v6.4.1

I am using sensorless FOC (STO-PLL) in WorkBench tool. I am trying to increase the speed of the motor to its MAX 47000 RPM. But, I am getting only 7200 RPM with Parameters from Motor Datasheet in MC Workbench tool. I have changed the HW to short 3-SHUNT and removed mentioned capacitors.

Below are my parameter configurations:

Max speed I am getting on Motor Pilot:

I queried Motor for the Max speed of the motor. They replied it is achievable by using 14 mNm Torque.

I have few questions:

1. In the Motor profiler tool, reaches upto 12000 RPM then giving Speed Feedback error. What configurations can set to run profiler tool successfully?

2. Does ST HW (F401RE + IHM08M1) support 47K RPM @24V for the Motor?

3. With ST workbench tool having Sensorless FOC (STO+PLL), can we achieve MAX speed 47K RPM.

If achievable, please suggest me the parameter values required to configure on workbench tool.

Thanks and Regards,

Omkar B

Hello @omkar62,

If you can profile your motor at a speed lower than 12,000 rpm, save the result.
Edit the generated .json file located in the ~.st_workbench\hardware\motor directory to set the "maxRatedSpeed" value to 47,000 rpm.
Generate a project using the modified motor description file.

Hi GMA,

Thanks for reply.

I am unable to save the result in the profiler tool. where i am getting approximately 12000 RPM. The tool is interrupted by Speed Feedback fault. How to configure profiler tool to complete the profiling.

Could you please check and confirm the parameters I have filled in the workbwnch tool are correct or not?

Regards,

Omkar
