Pinout view - Wastefull use of GUI area

Split from IDE Version 2.0.0 - why remove MX ? as this has nothing to do with that topic

Pinout view is bad also.

In center of window useless hole with ST logo. Wastefull use of GUI area. 80% of area is gray hole in center or white hole at the borders.

Much better to use table with pins info. In the table can be shown some usefull information in addition to pin name (type of pin, for example). Current design can be used as additional presentation.

CubeMX design is created by managers wich have no undestanding of developer needs.

There are options to export a pinout table:

STM32U535VE / Pin configuration table / Excel or CSV-table

A complex system that works is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that worked.A complex system designed from scratch never works and cannot be patched up to make it work.

I like the "physical" pinout view.

That's because I also do the PCB layout.
Example: when I find that some high speed pins belonging together are far apart from each other so I'll have to do some extra meandering for equal length tuning, I can quickly check for other pins with the same alternate function, or simply choose another package if possible.

The picture is that way because that's how chips are shaped. If you take a picture of a chip, is the middle of the picture also wasted space?

The image is shaped that way because the chip looks that way. It's an easy one-to-one reference for what you're seeing in real life. A table would not provide the same functionality.

A table is also available in the datasheet, if that's your thing.

+1 for usefulness of seeing physical pin layout - there is more to using these than the software side.

Did you know you can click on the little arrows to hide it, if it is getting in the way for your purposes?

...you can also choose "System View" which is in more table format, possibly to your liking
