ST25 NFC/RFID tags and readers

Hi,I have question for ST25R3916BI am only using the ST25R3916B chip on its own. I have successfully set up SPI communication for reading and writing. Now, I need to understand how I can read from ST25TV02K data.

I am working off of Custom Hardware using the ST25R95 and I can read tags but I am trying to keep the device into IDLE mode but can't get it to work.I have ran tag detect calibration without a tag in the field and came up with a result of 0x5C. (See attached Traces from boot)I used 0x5C as the base for IDLE mode and use the +/-0x08 to setup the thresholds.Using 0x5C, the device keeps telling me that there is a tag and starts to read a tag, goes into IDLE and repeats without a tag in the field. (See attached Traces from boot).Do you have any ideas why this will not stay in IDLE?

I would like to know if the M24LR 64 ER memory using NFC already has support for IOsxx. I am trying to read and write data to this memory but without success, I receive errors 100 and 103.

Hello, I have a question on the value of nfc_n<1:0> of the Auxiliary definition register.The following tables talk about the field value, could you please explain further what is the meaningof the value 512 in Table 14?Is my interpretation as shown below correct?When fc = 13.56MHz, 1 unit of T_RFW = 512 / fc = 37.76usIf n = 1, Total RF waiting time = 37.76usif n = 2, Total RF waiting time = 2 x 37.76usif n = 3, Total RF waiting time = 3 x 37.76usif my interpretaion is correct, what happen when  n = 0, can n be set = 0 before NFC field on? Thanks! BR,ctee 

attn @Brian TIDAL et alI have yet another issue I don't understand. I have code that I have run against two similar products using the same ST25DV04K tag. The products differ in that one has a slower CPU clock. On the product with the faster clock, my code works and produces the expected result, but on the other product I get the output below. I am transferring messages in mailbox mode. I have successfully sent my message, and I need to wait for the remote host to send back an acknowledgement message containing a 32-bit CRC. I start to poll the mailbox control register to see if the message is ready, but the command results in error code "No Memory". The error code doesn't appear to make much sense in this context, but it's repeatable and happens every time. hello sir       I am using the fast transmission mode of the nfc chip ST25DV04KC to transmit picture data. The NFC chip is used with the MCU of  STM32G071G8U6. When I write the 25KB picture data through the mobile APP into the NFC cache, I find that the entire writing time takes about 11 seconds. Please tell me know, Is the transmission and writing time normal? If not, what is the error? If normal, is there any other chip or solution that can replace it? I need to control the entire time within 4 secondsThank you.

Dear all,I'm attempting to use fast transfer mode with a ST25RDV04K type 5 tag and the STEVAL board for 3916B. I know this theoretically works because I have some Java code that is able to do it successfully, but I'm porting the code and I keep running into this issue and I can't see wht.I've enabled mailbox mode;I've send the mailbox message;I'm trying to check the mailbox control register to see if the remote device has posted a response. I'm using the iso15693TxRxNBytes() call with the Fast Read Dynamic Configuration command, register 0D (Mailbox Control Dynamic). I'm new to ST25R2916B programming and the RFAL NFC library. I'm currently writing board bring-up firmware and would like to know the correct way of updating the AAT A/B values in both the CHIP_INIT and POLL_COMMON modes of the Analog Config table while keeping all the other parameters in their default values. I currently read the AAT A/B values from Flash and would like to load it in the Analog config table on start-up.Questions:I don't quite understand how to use the rfalAnalogConfigListWrite() API - is this the right API to use? For example, if I want to update the AAT A/B values in CHIP_INIT, can I pass just the new AAT A/B reg-mask-value or pass the entire list of 20 reg-mask-values found in CHIP_INIT? How do I set the Config ID for CHIP_INIT and POLL_COMMON? I looked in the config ID defines in rfal_analogConfigTbl.h and didn't find anything for these two modes.Do I need to call the rfalSetAnalogConfig() function after I change the AAT A/B values?Since I'm just doing boa

Hi, I have configured an LED for RF field status in the rfal_plafrom.h.The LED switches on when rfalNfcDiscover() is called. But the LED does not switch off when the rfalNfcDeactivate(RFAL_NFC_DEACTIVATE_IDLE); function is called. This function returns RFAL_ERR_NONE and I am expecting the LED to switch off. How can I confirm if the RF field is off ? Why does not the LED turn off ?RFAL library used is 2.8.0    

Hi, we are using an ST25R3911B NFC reader. Is it possible to drive this chip without a crystal, and use a generated clock source instead (coming from an MCU)? We found the following article on your forum: https://community.st.com/t5/st25-nfc-rfid-tags-and-readers/is-it-possible-to-use-a-clock-oscillator-instead-of-quartz/td-p/301081, but for some reason we are not getting it to work. The input clock we use looks OK when using a oscilloscope. We configured the tana_7, as well as the OSC bit, but is seems not to give an analog field (but we are able to communicate to the reader over SPI).If this is possible, what is the moment that these registers need to be configured?  

Hi.Im using the ST X-NUCLEO-NFC08A1 expansion board and i want to read the HEX Memory of a NFC-V Tag like the ST-Tab App..Im using the NFC08A1_HelloWorld.ino (github.com/stm32duino/X-NUCLEO-NFC08A1) and it says:ISO15693/NFC-V card found. UID: E00225031E35CNDEF NOT DETECTED (ndefPollerNdefDetect returns 5)Operation completedThe NDEF format is not correct, i know. Thats why i need to modify the code to make a RAW Memory Data read.Does somebody know what functions i can use with the RFAL or what needs to be modified to archieve that?Your help would be greatly appreciated!

We cannot replicate the same result in the above FCC report.On page 8 of the test report (EUT Radio Specifications), Transmitter Parameters section (b) lists many different modulation types. Then it says "A test mode allow to test all modulations at the same time".I am wondering if this means the test mode was running with a different firmware. Hi,Is it possible to understand the TAG variant from the UID during the inventory ?For example, ST25TV16K has the UID as shown below: For ST25TV02K, the UID is as shown below:If you see the above snapshots, ST product code is 48h for ST25TV16K and 23h for ST25TV02K. Are these values fixed and can we identify the tags from the product code ? Is the product code 48h  same for ST25TV64K also ? Could you also please tell what does the IC Mfg code say about the tags ?The reason I am asking is, If I know the tag, I can know which are the supported commands for specific tags. For example: Extended get system info is not supported in ST25TV02K, but supported in ST25TV16K.@Brian TIDAL  

Hi,Why does this enum (in rfal_nfcv.h) do not contain the command code for some commands (eg:- Write AFI, Lock AFI etc )? I also do not see an api to do this -  If I need to write to AFI, Am I supposed to use directly api rfalNfcvPollerTransceiveReq() with 0x27h command code ?@Brian TIDAL  

Hey, i am developing a RFID reader for ISO-14443-4 card with st25r3917b. The firmware is done and works with my custom MCU board connected with external RF board of STEVAL-25R3916B. However , if I switching the testboard and connect with my custom RFID board ,the reader just can not detect the card .It is obviously cause by wrong matching circuit I draw before.The antenna parameter to the Antenna matching tool is still a question for me to implement a custom antenna for the project.Due to lacking of newwork analyzer and imformation from the antenna datasheet. Some of the parameter from the Antenna Matching tool is still missing(Target Q , Targeting Matching Z, Parallel resistance and the present box?). Should i just enter some general numbers in the blank? In my test , there are three board , one main board only contain MCU(STM32L452CCU6), one STEVAL-25R3916B RF board and one custom st25r3917b board contain RFID antenna with cable(FXR.01.07.0100C.A). Hello,I am using X-NUCLEO-NFC08A1(ST25R3916B) with Dialog DA14706 MCU , ported the X-CUBE-NFC6 library and first tested for SPI , and it has worked fine(getting Tag UID) . Then i have done some modifications in hardware (Pull-up resistors 1.6K , Made i2c_en high, solder bridges) as well as in Software (defined the macro RFAL_USE_I2C). Still can't get tag UID. By the way ,both Timer tests , antenna RF field (13.56MHz) and chip id (0x31) , all are checked, found correct.Thanks for your help

Hi. Is there any documentation for the ST25R391xDISCOComm.dll? I'm trying to use this from a C# application and have managed to get some things working, for example I can identify a type 5 tag, and read its entire 512-byte memory into a buffer in 4-byte blocks. However I want to write some changed data back and I just can't intuit how the iso15693WriteBlock() method is supposed to work. It has parameters for received data (I'm writing!) and a final boolean flag named "use_option" which has to be one of the most unhelpful names in the history of programming.I have looked at the C# demo app and that doesn't write any blocks to the tag so that's no help (same for the C++ and python demos, which are all just copies of each other). I have looked at the C++ header file for the DLL, and that is basically just a mirror of the C# native methods, with no comments or documentation suggestion how anything should be used. Hello, commuity,We want to estabilsh a data link between two devices over NFC. This is, because we want to power a kind of sensor device over the air via a gap of abt 1 mm.The sensor consists of a ST25DV04KC and a STM32L031 with a low drop regulator.On the other side or transmitter is a ST25R3911B driven by a STM32L031 (the controller will change later). Antenna matching network was designed by using the ST's Antenna Matching Tool. Anntenas itself are PCB coils of 4 windings of about 55mm diameterTesting the power transmission we found, that this works fine in the range of more than 5mm. But the closer the antennas are, the more the field of the transmitting antenna drops, until there is no supply voltage available on the sensor board.Are there limitations in the use of power transfer in this small ranges or did we miss any other restriction of this?Thanks in advanceKai 

Using my Arduino UNO and X-NUCLEO-NFC03A1 with the ST25R95 I am having issues trying to stay in IDLE.For DacDataL and DacDataH, I have tried both the recommended 0x64 and 0x74 for the demo board and the 0x90 and 0xA0 that came from Tag Detection Calibration.Approximately every 552ms it jumps out of Idle state and the IRQ_O never goes LOW.I have attached a trace.  I still haven't been able to capture a trace that includes IRQ_O.It shows boot, going into Idle, jumps out of Idle, polls for reading, reads and goes back to Idle.Why might my code be jumping out of Idle mode?

Hi,In AN3433, Appendix B says "The Tag detection calibration process must be performed when the application is initialized".However in case that I don't use tag detector mode, I don't have to process the Tag detection calibration, do it?I want ST25R95's startup time to be as fast as possible.Therefore I want to reduce the Tag detection calibration process. Thanks

I am using the X-NUCLEO-NFC03A1 board with the ST25R95 and an Arduino UNO as the development hardware.  I am not using libraries but I can currently read personal data from an ISO14443-A tag.I believe I am on the final leg of my ST25R95 code and trying to implement Tag Detection Calibration.  I am failing to get past the first step of the procedure.  This step sets DacDataH at 0x00 and I should get a response of 0x00, 0x01, 0x02 telling me that it woke up from a tag.  However, I get an empty response from my idle command 0x00, 0x00, 0x00.  My polling routine seems to take longer on this response but it doesn't error out.To start out the Calibration procedure I send:With every byte sent, I get the response of 0x06, so I think the ST25R95 likes the bytes I send.In my code, I boot the ST25R95 by sending the RESET control and the IRQ pulse, then I do an Echo command to check communication, then I retrieve the IDN.  After IDN, I do a 10ms pause and jump into Ta

I am building on my Arduino based code for using the ST25R95.I have successfully received data from an ISO15693 tag but I don't understand what it is reporting or what the data means that I sent with the SendRecv command to read from the tag.  If it tells me in the datasheet, I don't see it.With Brian Tidal's help, again, I send 0x0403260100.Can you help me understand the data portion of what I am sending (0x260100)?Also can you help me understand what I received back?For instance, I receive:  0x00x00x280xFFFFFFEB0xFFFFFF900xFFFFFFF30x500x10x40xFFFFFFE00xFFFFFFF20x66The serial number for that tag is 19:2D:5B:CA:50:01:04:E0I am using an NFC Android app to get that Serial Number and I don't see a correlation with the data that I got back when reading with the ST25R95. Additionally I would like to read from a ISO14443-A tag.The datasheet recommends sending 0x04079370800F8C8E28, but again I don't understand the "data" aspect of what I am sending during the SendRecv command.&

Hi,i have modified 2 eval NFC08A1 and now i'm using ST25R3916B not in balance mode but with 2 single ended RF circuitry.If i use the  RFIO1 i can establish a P2P connection between the 2 evals, insted if i change and use the RFOI2, the P2P connection doesn't work, i can only read passive tags.The register 00h permits to choose balance or differential output and which output use, but all the other registers refer to RFOI1, or RFOI2?where is written what can i can do or don't with the periferal RFIO1 or RFIO2? Are they different???

Hi,Reader IC - ST25R3916RFAL version - 2.8.0Serial interface - I2CI am trying to read the entire memory (2KB) from ST25tv16k using the api rfalNfcvPollerExtendedReadMultipleBlocks.eg:-  err = rfalNfcvPollerExtendedReadMultipleBlocks(flags, NULL, blockNum, 75, rxBuf, 2050, &rcvLen);  In the above code, I am trying to read 75 blocks. This api returns ERR_NOMEM.What is the maximum data I can read from the tag in a single fn call?Also, the code breaks if the "numOfBlocks" is more than 75 in the above api. The reason found is that this will call the function st25r3916ReadFifo() with parameter buf as NULL and it is causing issue in my code.  Why is a NULL passed here ? What is an I2C api supposed to do when a NULL is passed ?
