ST25 NFC/RFID tags and readers

I have difficulties connecting two X-NUCLEO-NFC05A1. I had no problems reading different types of NFC cards but It is impossible for me to detect the other X-NUCLEO-NFC05A1. The board does not indicate that it detects any RF device.Is it possible to establish a p2p connection between two X-NUCLEO-NFC05A1 and exchange data?Regards

Therefore, I tried to run the expansion board on the NUCLEO-F401RE and copied the files included in the sample projects run by NUCLEO-L053R8. My project is to charge and receive data from a device that has on board energy storage (70F supercap). 300mW of received power is plenty for my application. I thought NFC WLC with iso15693 would be perfect for the job.From ST's NFC WLC webpage:https://www.st.com/content/st_com/en/support/learning/st25-education/nfc-for-wireless-charging.html#stm32trust-overviewI see NFC can charge up to 1 watt with an output power on the ST25R3916 of 1.8W. The webinar on the website demonstrates received power of 0.5W.However, my X-Nucleo-NFC04A1 is only receiving 0.013W on its EH pin with the X-Nucleo-NFC06A1 as the reader. This was measured via a 50 ohm resistor between V_EH and ground. The rest of the board is supplied via 3.3 input, so I assume all of the received power is dissipated in the resistor. My first thought is that the reader isn't outputting 1.8W. I have tried configuring the RF regulator at 0x2C and TX driver at 0x28 to output max power, which should cause the rf regulator to limit cur

I am writing this letter to seek your advice regarding a problem we are currently facing. We have an application scenario that involves a device with a battery, and we want the NFC tag on the device to become invalid when the battery runs out, thereby preventing the card reader from reading the contents on the tag.I have tried to use passive tags and attempted to disconnect the induction coil through a special circuit, but the effect was not satisfactory. Hi,I have ST25DV64KC and another ADC chip connected to STM32L071RZT6 on I2C1. I noticed that reading GPO1 or other registers or MB by HAL_I2C_Mem_Read_IT() fails from time to time. Completions of operations are often timeout (somehow read timeouts more often, i.e. I don't get INT in expected time).I only read static & dyn registers as well as accessing MB for r/w and tend to think that I don't handle i2c concurrent access properly.Should only function call of HAL_I2C_Mem_Read_IT() or WriteIT() be protected by mutex or I should keep it until I get INT back signalling the end of the requested operation?What should timeout be for reading of static/dyn registers or reading 256 bytes from MB? (configured i2c Fast-mode)Does competing for i2c resources task's priority matters much or elevated priority will sort it out?Could someone suggest a working approach to solve concurrent access on the i2c bus?Cheers

I have a strange problem on a new PCB design we are working on.We have developed two prototype PCB's, where the NFC works on the first one, but fails on the second:PCB prototype revision 1:The ST25R3918 NFC works fine. Based on Examples fr antenna design and using RFAL and ST example for the driver software.PCB prototype revision 2:I can read the NFC-A ID tag with no problems from 50 mm distance (NFC Detection() + NFC CollisionAvoidance() ).See screenshot below.But then, when I try to activate the card and read the content, it fails: Reads all 0x00.But not always: Typically I can read the card content after a reset of the MCU. But it is a bit tricky and the distance must be be within a very specific distance. And sometimes the data are not completely read.After this first read of the content after reset, it fails 100% of the times.There are no error during the execution. All calls to the RFAL library returns OK.But all data are 0x00.Place NFC tag near antennaPower up or Reset via JTAG/

I have a STM32U5 with an ST25R3911B and an ST25TV02KC NFC TAG using RFAL.I would like to format an empty NFC TAG to store an NDEF text message. My setup works perfectly if I initially write an NDEF text record with my smartphone. But if I write to an empty NFC out of the shelf, the NfcType5_NDEFDetection() function reports the NDEF_ERROR_NOT_FORMATED error. Sure I can write the CC-File, but how do I know the size of the memory? Well yes, I know the size of the memory for this TAG (datasheet) but I would like to make it dynamically to support other TAGs too.So my intention was, to read the RFAL_NFCV_SYSINFO_REQ_ALL where I can get the MEM_SIZE_INFO of the TAG. But this does not work. I use the rfalNfcvPollerGetSystemInformation() function for this which reports a timeout.On my Smartphone, I have the ST25 Application and I can read the system file with the memory size of the TAG.How can I read this with my ST25R3911B? I have a problem when I try to read the tag content.Detecting the NFCA tag and reading UID etc. works fine.But then I want to read the content of the tag using: C_NFC_DataExchange( u8RxBankNumber) This always just returns all 0's.I have found a way to make it work though:If I don't use the protection of the ST25 communication, it works well.The ST25 IRQ is wired to MCU EXTI 14, which is part of EXTI15..10 interrupt.When I disable this interrupt during communication to protect the device (see below), it does not work.If I disable a random unused EXTI, and thus NOT protecting the ST25, it works well:In platform.h:Defining the NFC IRQ as a random/wrong unused EXTI, it works: #define IRQ_ST25R_EXTI_IRQn   EXTI0_IRQnBut when I define the correct EXTI used, it doesnot work, and I read all 0x00's: #define IRQ_ST25R_EXTI_IRQn   EXTI15_10_IRQnI have no other EXTI on the EXTI15..10 ISR.I can't figure out why this happens.ThanksNFC device: ST25R3918MCU: STM32H73

I wanted to use one of the X-NUCLEO NFC reader shields.I have the X-NUCLEO-NFC05A1 (ST25R3911), the X-NUCLEO-NFC03A1 (ST25R3916) and the NUCLEO-F303RE.I was hoping there would be an easy was to integrate the RFAL with an existing SPI example project. I ran into some difficulty remapping the I/O pins, since the SPI example project used different pins on the NUCLEO-F303RE than what the X-NUCLEO-NFC05A1 (and presumably the X-NUCLEO-NFC03A1) uses. I'm not that familiar with the STM processors, so I decided to switch to using a different base board I am more familiar with.What I would like is an example project for using one of these Arduino shield and that uses an easily obtainable base board.

Hey, Can you please help me with using ST25DV64KC board. With stm32L476VGT6 core M4 processor.I want to do NFC communication. I couldn't find anything on the internet or youtube about how to program it.Somewhere, i read that we have to download the firmware for our board. And it contains the source code..I downloaded the firmware for my Board from the ST community website. But when I run it it gives me errors. I am trying to resolve these erros from two to three days. But they are not completely removed. The software I am using is STM32 Cube IDE. I want to ask the following questions:1) Is the firmware code the only way to do NFC Communication? And am I doing something wrong?2) The IDE that I am using is Stm32 Cube IDE. Does the firmware code supports this? Or it is written for Keil?3) Do the package contains file that should be removed in order to run it in Stm32 Cube ide.I will be grateful if you can help me with my questions. I have rfid and can working. I want to do is increase the cycle time for can so it is not too fast. Right now i am getting 0.3 cycle time and when i add the HAL_Delay(200) it increases the cycle time but the rfid slows down. Any suggestions what i can do?What i want to do is send the rfid reading over the CAN when nfcv is detected if not detected then send zero's only.. When i add HAL_Delay(200) the entire system gets the delay i only want to add that to can transmission. Please guide me. I am very new to stm32

Hi,Before my question, I am new to NFC designs.I want to test my first PCB design, I want it to work like an NTAG, and I want to be able to read and write on my PCB. For this first project, I don't need anything else.My idea is to use the ST25DV04K or similar with a chip antenna like the 2450AT18A100E, I would like to know how to connect the pads of these two, do I need any decoupling capacitors?The characteristics of the PCB would be around 1 or 1.5cm in diameter and 0.8mm or 1.6mm thick.My other question is, once the PCB is ready can I write straight away, or does it need to be programmed before?I repeat that for me this is new, if you have any idea where can I start, some course or info?Thank you.

I am new beginner in stm32 and I am now working to work with my customer board with st25r3917b and I am now starting with the self test. I have checked that the st25r3916DisableInterrupts and st25r3916EnableInterrupts.Sometime it doesn't mask the register correctly. For example ,in the ST25R3916B test ,it is going to do trigger RC calibration by executing the command 0xEAU and inside the st25r3916ExecuteCommandAndGetResult it is supposed to enable ST25R3916_IRQ_MASK_DCT by masking the Mask timer and NFC interrupt register to 0x80 but I read the Mask timer and NFC interrupt register after st25r3916EnableInterrupts( ST25R3916_IRQ_MASK_DCT ) and it doesn't mask the Mask timer and NFC interrupt register correctly .May I ask how to solve this problem? Beside, I want to know the st25r3916DisableInterrupts () function will mask the register back to 0 according to the interrupt type ? Thanks alot.Best regards,Chan

Hi,I have a device that should normally be in Standby mode. Eventually it will need to wake up when a NFC tag is read, and then do some stuff (and retain the info of the tag).At the moment I got the STM32H7 to go to Standby mode, and is waking up thanks to a IRQ of the NFC reader via a wakeup pin (when approaching a tag). I see that when exiting Standby mode the uC reboots, and thanks to HAL_PWREx_GetWakeupFlag(PWR_WAKEUP_FLAG6), I'm aware that I'm waking up due to an interrupt from NFC.The problem is that, as we are rebooting, NFC gets initialized again and therefore we miss the information of the tag that caused the waking up. Is there any nice way to deal with this? like some function that forces the reading of last tag without needing too much context? At the moment I can only think of not doing NFC initialization again when coming from Standby. But this means that I need to go inside the fw to push some internal states of the NFC RFAL to be able to do a demoNdef(). This doesn't fe

Hi there,I am a beginner of using customize board to build a project for reading a ISO 144443-4 card . The project demo(polling) that I search in previous post is using a different MCU. Also, I read the rfal_platform header file. It is using the SPI communication. Is it possible to configurate it using I2C communication?First question, Am I supposed to use the ISO_DEP feature to read the card? Second question , I know that I need to configure the GPIO , interrupt pin and the serial communication interface (SPI,I2C....). how can I initialize the St25r3917? What steps or functions must include in initialize process?Third question, If I am only reading the card UID ,which project or example I should take it as a reference and what command I should use for reading the card or how can I adjust from the existing project to build the Functionality? I have a project where a sensor of mine reads a frequency value of 7 digits (5000000 for example) and is sent to a ATTiny414. I want to write this data on to the ANT7-T-ST25DV04K through I2C. I can't use the STMDuino library as the microcontroller holds only 4K program memory. I have tried writing to I2C address 0xA6 for writing to slave memory. But that does not seem to work.

Hello,I'm working on a custom application with a board with a previous Firmware (V3.1.0) that works well. I have a 2nd board with the newest Firmware version(V3.2.1.0) that does not work with it. Any way to have access to a previous firmware V3.1.0.0?

How to simply use firmware for custom project? Which functions are necessary to scan tags? Example in gen2.h requires almost all files included in the project, which creates many errors when compiling. P.S. I have successfully read chip version, so write/read commands work.

The ST25RU3993 is flagged as NRND and Digikey reports the part as EOL.The product is great. Is there a replacement planned?

I´d also like to connect the X-NUCLEO-NFC08A1 to a Raspberry Pi 3 or 4 but want to avoid using an ARPI600. The fact that you either need to fix a hardware pin of the X-NUCLEO-NFC08A1 board or the ARPI600 makes me feel that you are not a big fan of this device, too.While I already found some questions here (see links below, is there more?) related to how to connect the board to the Pi pins the information is rather fuzzy to me.
