CubeIDE closes itself

Hi, I'm going crazy over here because the stm32cubeIDE closes itself a few seconds after loading. Literally, I double-click on the icon, the program comes up, and sometimes after 5, 10, or 20 seconds, it closes itself.

After cloasing a small window appears, I attach a picture of it.

I have uninstalled all ST software I had on my PC, installed it again, installed the last versions and previous versions, updated to the last version of Win 10, but nothing works. Cube MX works fine, but the only issue is with this software.

I have used the IDE on my PC for more than 3 years now with no issue.

I searched for a log file with no luck, Does anybody know where it hides? Is there a log file?

Any help will be appreciated.

Ok, I got it working again.

Here is how I did it:

I uninstalled all STM software.

entered into the registry and wiped it from all keys that contain stm32cubeIDE and eclypse.

I reinstalled the IDE, and now it works.

Hello @DBrug.712 .

Could you please add your OS to make the case as clear as possible.

Best regards.

I found out that version 1.12.0 is working, I have no clue why version 1.13.1, that was running on my PC, refueses now.

Do you look in /etc?  I am not sure how to wipe registry.  Do you mind telling us the command you used?

I had the same problem.

solution:

1- Run as administrator STM32CubeMx.

2- Wait to complete installation of updates.

3- close STM32CubeMx and open STM32CubeIDE

Thank you, my friend!

It worked for me. I confirm that your method works to fix this error.

The cause of my error was that I started updating STM32CubeIDE, but I also started updating STM32CubeMX. After that, STM32CubeIDE stopped working and gave the following error:

self_upgrade_failed.jpg

I followed everything Ahmad M. Nejad wrote, and everything started working for me!

Hi all,

I am currently having this same problem, although on mac OS.

macOS Sonoma 14.4.1. M3 Chip.

STM32CubeIDE version 15.1. Have tried 15.0 and 16.1 also.

The program was working fine recently until today.

Can someone advise how to delete all IDE files for a fresh install on mac OS?

Regards

Yeah, exact same thing. Yeah, updating via STM32CubeMX solved the issue. Super annoying and totally not obvious on how to resolve. These are the reasons I generally recommend other tools for application development. To just suddenly start failing to start is a serious problem that should be resolved ASAP.

I just installed the IDE in my computer for the 5th time I have followed this solution as well but in not of the cases the IDE stops crashing, Does anyone has other ideas to solve the issue?

Is your computer provided by your work or school? Such computers may have so called "security" or "compliance" cr@pware that does not play well with Java.

Is not provided by any IT team, it ia my work computer and uses Win 11 pro, which I installed from zero few days ago.
