Disable breakpoint, resume run, actuate trigger, disabled breakpoint breaks..... why?

After setting a break point and resuming program execution and testing break point operation successfully, I then disable the breakpoint, check breakpoint properties to confirm breakpoint is disabled, then resume program execution, activate breakpoint trigger to confirm breakpoint DOES NOT trigger, yet it still triggers. Unable to stop the breakpoint from triggering. Using STM32CubeIDE.
