Usert Authentication in STM32CubeIDE hangs and reports no connectivity

I'm on Ubuntu 22.04 and cannot "connect to myST" via the CubeIDE interface although I can do it through a web browser.  It eventually times out and puts up an error dialog referencing connection issues.  I've played with the networking settings and tried both 'native' and 'direct' internet connection.  I am not behind a proxy and there is no firewall or other security measures in place that should block connectivity.

 

I've found a few similar posts but nobody has ever gotten back with what resolved it for them.  Any ideas?

If you have encountered an authentication problem while using STM32CubeIDE, you need to set your connection parameters as mentioned in this link:
