I get an error message when I try to connect with the STEVAL-WLC38RX evaluation board using STSW-WPSTUDIO.  I am using v2.7.2 of WP Studio.  See error message attached.

I want to use the PM8805 as POE controller in a custom project for a 25W classified POE device. The PM8805 should generate the input power for 2 boards in this device.However, when connecting only one board with approx. 30uF input capacitance, the power supply works without any problem. But when connecting the 2nd board with approx. 20uF additional capacitance, the power supply fails and the PM8805 is in a state, where it tries to switch on repeatedly and gets certainly hot. The POE LED on my switch is constantly lit in this situation.My understanding of this behaviour is that it is caused by the overall inrush current out of the PM8805 into the 2 boards!?To be able to develop an inrush current limiter without using the "real" boards, i bought a STEVAL-POE001V1 which i got on my table now.Connecting the STEVAL-POE001V1 to my little POE-switch (TL-SG105PE) without any load makes the power-LED (D2 - blue) blinking with approx. 1s interval and so the POE-LED of my switch. Hello ST Community,I am currently developing a product using the PM8805 chip and have purchased and tested the STEVAL-POE001V1 evaluation board. Based on the reference design provided by ST, I created my own circuit diagram and manufactured a custom PCB. I then mounted the PM8805 chip on my PCB and began testing.Unfortunately, I encountered a few issues during testing:The STEVAL-POE001V1 board stopped functioning during my tests.When I connected my custom PCB with the PM8805 chip to a PoE cable, the chip overheated almost immediately.On the positive side, the LED indicated the device had reached T0 mode, so the device seems to be partially functioning.I suspect there may be a misunderstanding in my design or implementation of the PM8805. I am attaching my circuit diagram and would appreciate it if someone could review it and provide feedback on whether any components or design elements might be unsuitable for the PM8805.Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Hi the datasheet does not contain the thermal junction temperatures for the VFQFPN48, hence hard to work out the max thermal temps for the device. please can you supplyregardsRoss

Hi All,To start, I'm a hobbyist and although I am OK with digital, analogue and the maths surrounding design is beyond me.    I am seeking assistance in specifying the values and component suggestions for the CM Filter as noted in figure 7, page 19 of the PM8805 data sheet. If someone has a ready made solution for the following, it would be very much appreciated.   My circuit will need two power rails which I will create using two buck convertors. A 12V rail as well as a 3.3V rail. The 3.3V will only draw a constant current of around 600mA, the 12V rail will spike on occasion to 2Amps. I have designed these before and I am happy with this area.   The 12V circuit will be driving a Texas Instruments TAS5670L Class D I2S Amplifier, while the 3.3V will be driving a Microcontroller. I have been working, with STPM01 as a peripheral device with my micro controller to develop a e meter. On development with board, on testing on no voltage and no current or in case of voltage ( 220  - 240 AC ) AC and no load current. During these time the RMS value of current and voltage are non zero values, there is a offset error value of 4, or 5 in decimal. I there any solution to solve this offset. My other issue is that when there line voltage, but no current is taking but the active register is incrementing by 2 decimal. event though the BIL is high indicating there is no LOAD. Still the counter is counting, is this normal or is there any method to solve this.

Hi,We have designed PFC using L6562 referring application note AN2761 on that the auxiliary winding is used only to sense the zero current detect calc. is in Equation 65 but we also need to power the ic using the same winding.Where can i get that calculation ?now for the testing purpose we powered the ic from the external source and we are not getting pulses (square waveform) at the gate pin its gives spikes. what could be the reason?

Hi!I have a couple of questions regarding the STPM01 energy metering circuit:We are using it for measuring currents only with Rogowski coils. (We have 4 circuits on our board).We are not using the voltage measuring, so it is not connected.The microcontroller we use is a ESP32.We are only interested in the Irms values, so after reading the registers, we take out the Irms part from the register.The problem is that the values are not zero when nothing is connected or the sensor is connected but with no lead through the sensor.This is measured with a Rogowski coil with 50mV/kA:With no sensor connected the Irms part of the register reading is varying between 0x0001 and 0x0002 (the first or second bit is set (varying)).With sensor connected but no lead throug loop the register reading is varying between 0x008 and 0x00f.If we translate this to current, it will be (no sensor): 0.017 to 0.033A and with sensor: around 0.15 to 0.20 A.Calculated with a voltage of 230V this makes around 5W with no

Hello,I purchased a set of Wireless charging evaluation boards (RX & TX) on Mouser.com for $160.The 2 board names are STEVAL-WBC86TX and STEVAL-WLC38RX. I use STSW-WPSTUDIO V1.8.4 software to try to connect to the board from my PC and get access to the register setting. But every time I click on the Connect button, there is the same error message appearing: "Unable to find any [RX]WLC38 device. Please check your connection again."  The issue is the same with both boards.But it seems the boards are working, because when I place STWLC38 on top of STWBC86, the boards are charging, because I can see the red LED on the receiver board, and Vout is 5V. So the main issue is the GUI.I cannot use the ST GUI to connect to any of the ST boards that I paid $200 for ! (with shipping + fee cost) My computer is Windows 11. And the board is properly connected through a USB-A to USB-C cable.I followed the steps from the user manual. The 2nd USB-C connector of

Good morning, We are evaluating the use of the VNF1048. During the test phase the problem arose that despite the MOS being in the open state we detect a current flow, even if minimal, that for our application must be avoided. From our point of view this behavior is due to the current coming from the "OUT" pin. Reading the datasheet in fact, this pin provides a bypass current that could be deactivated via SPI by setting bit 3, reported below, of the CR1 register.     However, this does not reflect what happens during testing, in fact despite setting this bit to '0', the behavior of the e-fuse remains unchanged and a minimum current (1mA circa).Is there a way to command the EFUSE in a complete open (high impedance) state?

V SWITCH_MIN (VLXx)is measured below the the absolute maximum rating on datasheet (-0.5V).However this limit is momentary ony (7.2 ns) as shown on the measurement.Usually datasheet specifies the minimum DC limit and minimum limit during transient value.Minimum limit during transient is not mentioned in datasheet.Could you assist in evaluating if the transient votlage of -1.40V on VLXx for ~7.2 ns is acceptable.Current situation:V SWITCH_MIN does not remain <-0.5V for longer than 10ns. Hello,I am looking at the STEVAL-ISB027V1 dev board. I see that it is obsolete. That is fine, I am more interested in understanding if this design could be implemented on 6x independent channels of Tx coils. I want to be able to independently control 6x copies of this circuit but use a single micro. What would you recommend for an application like this?

Hello, I am strongly considering using the STEVAL-A6986IV3 based design for a 4 channel isolated gate driver power supply.  One thing that looked strange in the the schematic was the four ground capacitors Cgnd1,2,3,4 which are 4.7nF 2000V rated. These connect the ground on each isolated channel to the ground on the input supply voltage. Can someone explain the purpose of these? It seems counter intuitive that we would want to capacitively couple the grounds together on a isolated supply.  Regards, Jason

Then, i need a 15V aux power supply. Can i connect the VIPER06 Flyback stage, from the middle point of output capacitors of the PFC?Looks like this... 

Dear Community,I’m currently testing the L6982C33DR and L6982C50DR to supply 3.3V and 5V to my board.I followed the reference design provided in the user manual and completed the PCB layout accordingly.However, when I power the board with 12V (Power+), both the 3.3V and 5V outputs are only showing 2.5V.I’ve attached my design files for reference. i have a design using the L6235 motor controller. when the motor is running at 4800 I applied the brake and disabled the enable pin of the IC, all worked fine, But i was getting the motor overrun because of the inertia of the gears.I tried to applied the brake with the enable pin high of the IC, but when i did this the IC blow. Is this because of my BEMF?I believe the L6235 BRAKE pin can be used to quickly stop the motor while it is running: providing a low logic level to this pin all the high-side DMOS switch on, making a short-circuit across the motor windings. tried and it blow ICWhile the motor is braking, both Thermal and Over Current protections still work? avoiding BEMF to cause a current exceeding the device's maximum ratings?how can I change my design to avoid this?regardsRoss

I apply three phases at 115vac, 400hz.I apply a 10A load. I turn on the Opto-Triac (VOT8121AB), and current runs thru the Triac under test(TUT) (T1610T-8i) and ac voltage appears at the output (ex; see CSSI_R_PhaA_Out, loc=A5, of Attached schematic “8440-211-00-A.a3-pg9-SCH”)I turn off the Opto-Triac, and the Output voltage and current both fall to approx. zero.I turn on the Opto-Triac, and the Output voltage and current rise to 115vac, @10A. I monitor a current probe near the case of the TUT; At 40c, I can turn on and off the Opto-Triac, and the TUT turns on and off.With the TUT on, I watch the temp rise. When it reaches 60C, The TUT does not turn off using the opto-Triac. When I drop AC into the TUT, for 100-200ms, the TUT turns off. TUT does turn on using the opto-Triac.When the temperature near the TUT is allowed drop from 60 to 50c, the Opto-Triac turns the TUT on and off.The resistance measured between pin 1 and 3 of the TUT, using a gate resistor of 390 ohm,
