ST25 NFC/RFID tags and readers

Hello,I am using the X-NUCLEO-NFC06A1 board to test the NFC functions, and to develop our prototyp NFC reader. I write the Firmware with other micro controller, and find it is really difficult to understand the ST25 Embeeded NFC library (STSW-ST25R16_v1.3.0). The codes are complicate and are not possible to use in my controller. So read some other Q&A and try to use direct commands and set the registers and to realize the NFC read and write. The following is the current code. ST25R3916 can read and transmit some bytes, because the main interrupt register shows start of receive, end of receive and end of transmission. But it can only receive 2 Bytes like 0x0008.  My question is How can I read the UID and complete data of tag? and how to write data to the tag correctly. Can anyone give a help? Hi guys,I must to replace the old obsolete chip ST25R3910-BQFT.I Finded the similar chip ST25R3914-AQFT, it change little abuot pinout and software but my first problem is the antenna matching for 13.56 MHz RFID application. Is possible to do the same matching that i used for ST25R3910-BQFT?I downloaded the ST25R Antenna matching tool software, but I not finded the type ST25R3914I don't find the avaluation board for ST25R3914-AQFT, so is not possible for me to test the device and the put the ST25R3914-AQFT for new possible project.please help me because I' dont' know what to I do.thanks Ciao, Roberto

Dear all, I'm doing some test on the ST25RU3993-HPEV development board, in particular I'm testing the tuning algoritm by using the ST25RU3993 Reader Suite software, both in the last version.Let me say first that I tested the board with several antenna and I checked them with a VNA and I'm pretty sure that S11 was below -10dB in the 868MHz bandwidth.As you can see from attched screen the tuning results are not excellent, but what is more strange is that I obtain completely different tuning efficiency If I use different RF path. I tried to change external/internal amplifer path for the same port and by using the same amplifer I changed the port. I wouldn't expect this variation and I need to understand what is caused by to avoid problem and guarantee good distance performance in my future design, since it is a critical parameter. Hi, i am working on a mobile android application, and from the firmware team they told me i need to this procedure:1. User closes his mobile phone to climatic sensor.2. A mobile app send a ManageGPO command (0x80) to ST25DV64K chip.3. This command raises RF_INTERRUPT in NFC which is seen by MCU.4. MCU updates values in DGN memory space.But how can I do this? I am a beginner in this technology, so i don't have much knowledge.I have also tried to send some custom command with the ST25 demo app, like 02 80 02 00 but the response is 01 01 ISO15693_CMD_NOT_SUPPORTED

My goal is to send an interrupt signal to MCU, and this couldn't be done via mST25DVTag.manageGpoCommand(ST25DVTag.GpoCommand.INTERRUPT), and it jumps to the catch part.I am a beginner to the field and would really appreciate your help!

I have an ST25R3916-DISCO board which I am using to communicate with ST25 tags with an antenna. I'm using the ST25R3916 Discovery GUI to see the tag information on the computer. My antenna is being recognized, but how do I read the RSSI value of the signal? I read on multiple forums that they use the rfalGetTransceiveRSSI() command to obtain RSSI values, but how do I send the command? Is there any example code for the same?

Hi, Im searching for develop a NFC reader using the CR95HF IC transceiver, but i dont know if ST has a STM32 MCU firmware bridge to be programmed. The CR95HF should be connect to PC and the commands sent through the 95HF IC.I want to connect the CR95HF to PC and develop an APP to control the IC transceiver and read/write NFC tag IC ST25DV. So i need a firmware bridge to be programmed into a STM32 MCU. Maybe i will avoid develop the firmware.So, i have found the STSW-M24LR007 and the package contain a STM32F103 Firmware, but its an old develop, so i cant open with STM32CubeIDE. Do you know if this firmware has a earlier update or ST has other package to be used? Do you know if this firmware is a bridge?Maybe you could introduce other recent options.thanks,Best Regards,

Hey, I recently ordered an ST25R3916-DISCO board for communicating with ST25 RFID tag antennas. I connected the board to my PC via the micro-USB cable and was able to detect my antenna via the R/W feature on the MCU. Furthermore, I downloaded the ST25R3916 discovery GUI software on my PC to obtain the RFID communication data (specifically RSSI values) on the computer. However, the software UI is grayed out and is not recognizing my board. I looked up the user manual for setting up the ST25R3916-DISCO board and it specifies installing the "DISCO_STM32L4x6.hex" firmware file. However, I am not able to locate the file in the installation directory. The file that I have in the firmware directory is "ST25R3916Demo_MB1414B_v1.2.0.hex". I also downloaded the "STSW-ST25R011" file which is the firmware for the ST25R3916-DISCO board, but couldn't locate the firmware file in there as well. Please let me know how I can get the discovery GUI to identify my board.

What is the default value of user memory and where is this stated in the datasheet for the ST25DV NFC EEPROM chip?

Good morning,I'm designing a board based on ST25RU3993-HPEV development board. I'm finding some problems in understanding which oscillator to use. On both schematic and dm00717148 is said that only one oscillator between XO and TCXO should be used but on the (as bought from ST) board I have they are both connected, how is it possible? Did anyone has the same problem?Thanks

Hi,We are thinking to use the ST25R3911B for one of our products but we don't see any way or documentation to upgrade its firmware in cases when ST publish a new firmware that fixes any bug or a new version that improves anything. Is there any way to update its firmware? If yes, where is the documentation of how end user can upgrade it? Thank you

I recently got an ST25DV-DISCOVERY board. I downloaded the firmware package from here. Which clearly states that it is a V1.1.2.I then installed the ST25 NFC Tap android app from the google play store (V3.7). When I tried to run the Fast Transfer mode, I get a pop-up that clearly says I need V1.2.0 minimum. I thought, well, that can't be true. Because the website doesn't have V1.2. So I click continue. Then it takes me to an interface that doesn't resemble what I see in the "UM2062-User manual-Firmware for the ST25DV-DISCOVERY boards".I thought, ok, the app has been updated. Then I put my phone on the tag and it says,"Can't read board name and version. Update to the latest firmware" and the example fails.I mean, what's the deal here? It's clear that the firmware that is available on st.com is still for the previous version of the android app but the google play store has the latest version app that requires latest firmware, which cannot be found anywhere.:|

Hi everyone,I designed my own board for the St25ru3993. Now I am trying to ramp up the RF Field. But before I can do that i need to check if the PLL is locked and the oscilator signal is stable. So i read the AGC and internal status display register. In my case the osc_ok bit and the pll_ok bit are not set, but the rf_ok bit is set. How is that possible? rf_ok bit should be set when field ramp up is done.What could be the reason for the osc_ok bit not being set? And how to lock the pll? Thanks in advance

I am referring to the 2:1 balun T6 (BD0810J50100AHF) that transforms the incoming tag response to a 100 differential signal that is fed into ST25RU3993 receiver section at pins MIX_INP (pin 4) & MIX_INN (pin 6).Based on the datasheet of the balun, it is a 50/100Ohm conversion, with < 1 dB Insertion Loss and phase difference of 1deg. Currently this balun is out of stock from major distributors.As a result, I am currently looking for alternative balun to replace the chip. There are several with the same form factors, but the phase difference is not around 1deg. One particular example is B0310J50100AHF that has phase difference of 38 deg.Hence, may I check if the phase difference affects the tag reading function of the RFID reader? In other words, whether the introduction of the phase difference at the 2 received signals MIX_INP and MIX_INN affects the tag reading responsiveness?Thank you very much for your kind support.Best regards,Ngo Tung

Dear ST engineers,To my understanding, the use of the power detector component is to help the MCU determine the actual power output from the reader (before entering the antenna). May I kindly check with you the reason behind the selection of the model MAX4003EUA+T ? Based on its datasheet (https://datasheets.maximintegrated.com/en/ds/MAX4003.pdf), under the Absolute Maximum Ratings session, the max RF input power to the chip is 6 dBm.The RFID reader, when using the external amplifier, is capable of reaching 30 dBm of RF power. In this case, after using the 20-dB coupler, the input power into the detector chip will still be around 10 dBm. Taking into account loss, the power might be around 7-8 dBm, which is still higher than the 6 dBm maximum rating.It would be great if you can help to share with me your testing experiences with this module, if there is any issue, as I am currently in the process of designing my own RFID reader based on ST eval board.Thank you very much for your ki

Posted on July 13, 2018 at 02:03Hi everyone,I have what I hope is a quick question about using an ISO14443A type 2 card with the CR95HF.Page 53 of the CR95HF datasheet shows the output of an anticollision algorithm (copied below).  And I've implemented similar functionality using the CR95HF and an NTAG216 (NXP NTAG). In the responses in my system, and the CR95HF datasheet example, there is a 0x28 that sometimes follows the data received from the tag.  This byte seems to mean that there is a CRC error, and that the 'first byte' has 8 significant bits (page 22 of the CR95HF datasheet).  I have no idea which byte is the 'first byte', but assume it is related to collisions.I'm most curious where the CRC error is occurring.  It seems to be ignored in the output of the anticollision example, as though it doesn't matter.  And there seems to be no CRC error associated with the Select 1 command (response is 0x08, not 0x28). I also see that

I have STM32G070KB MCU connected with M24SR02-Y via I2C and GPO. I have no problem to write some NDEF message through I2C and then read it with my phone app. But what I need is to read actual (!!!) data with my phone. That means I write periodically some data in NFC tag through I2C.But what I like is to write data by demand. As I see this pin GPO could be used to detect that RF session is started, and I tried to write at this moment some data into NFC Tag. But this action destroys RF session and phone app shows error. Is there some way to update NFC Tag NDEF message “on the fly�? during RF request or not? Thanks.
