ST25 NFC/RFID tags and readers

I am using an ST25TV02K-AD6H3 NFC tag IC with a printed antenna for RFID communication. As per the NFC tag antenna design guideline, the required antenna inductance is 5.95 uH. I designed an antenna using the ST eDesign Suite software with dimensions to obtain the required inductance. I printed the antenna out and attached the ST25TV tag IC to it using an electronically conducting adhesive. When I try to communicate with it using the ST NFC sensor app on my iPhone, it gives out a SmarTag Response Error. What does this error mean and how can it be resolved?

We planning to use M24LR discovery board (RF Transceiver board) with android phone to read our NFC based devices to program. Can any one provide documentation links and android drivers to work with our non NFC based Android phone to avoid NFC based phone

Hi @D.CedricalbanBased on your guidance on previous topic, i can execute python on raspi to read the tags.Currently, we would like to take the external MCU (like ESP32) as a host, implement it communicate with ST25RU3993-HPEV over UART. Hi,I need the suggestion such that in my PCB layout, I am trying to put all the RF chip and components will be at center of the antenna. So that I can get more space. If I seen the CR95HF Eval board the antenna part is separate and no other components also placed at the bottom and inside the antennal tracks.This above type of placement is recommended?Will you share the PCB guidelines for the CR95HF...Kind Regards,Nishanth M

I am new to antenna matching so I decided to use the ST25R Antenna Matching tool V3.1. It seems simple enough, and gave me this output after adding in my antenna parameters (taken right from the datasheet):  However when I simulate this circuit in Qucs, the outputs don't seem like the parameters calculated actually matched the antenna: I was under the impression that the circuit should be matched in a way so that the target frequency is in a valley of the S11 plot and a peak of the S21 plot. If that's true, is there a parameter or value I'm not setting correctly or do I just need to do the rest by hand?

Hi.I'm graduate student, researching UHF passive RFID tag, in Dongguk university, Seoul, Korea.Thanks to offer materials like documentations, video. It was really helpful for my study. Before purchase the ST25RU3993-HPEV to measure research results, I want to check some questions. At page 39 and 49 of ST25RU3993 datadheet, document says "In EPC Class 1 Gen2 protocol, the decoder supports long Rx preamble (TRext=1) for FM0" and "Short preamble is supproted for Miller 4 and Miller 8 coding". I wondering it means "FM0 coding can't use short Rx preamble (TRext=0) to communicate with ST25RU3993".At page 48 of same document, if I set Rx_crc_n=1 (Rx without CRC), does it mean ST25RU3993 never check CRC for all received data from a tag?Finally, at UM2268 User manual (about ST25RU3993 GUI software), I want to know can I custom commands like Read/Write.Thanks for your help.

Is there a way to have any MCU control the antenna function of the ST25R3916, if we use the ST25R3917, as there is a stock shortage of the 3916 ?

Hi, I am working with the ST25RU3993 HPEV board. I have configured the API with the USA frequency profile and every time I launch a new inventory it runs the pre-tuning algorithm which takes about 17 seconds. Is there any way to avoid this? I mean, some functionality that stores the tuning parameters and applies them every time an inventory is executed?BR, Nicolas  

Hi all,On a M24SR series NFC tag, after writing a NDEF message I need to activate GPO pin to wake up the MCU. On Android with java, this method exists: activePinGPO(NFCTag tag, OnNFCListener listener);And I'm trying to find the same method for iOS. Just for be more precise, I'm using NFCISO7816APDU to send messages. So I'm wondering if I can manage GPO pin with APDU as well because it's not written on the datasheet.Any idea?Thanks!

Hi,I would like to report 2 possible bugs on the rfalST25xVPollerWriteMessage implementation:The msgLen parameter must be "number of Data bytes minus 1", as a direct translation from the "Write message" command, but msgLen == 0 is not accepted as valid (rfal_st25xv.c line 205), failing to write 1 byte-long messages, which according to the ST25DV datasheet should be OK.The required TX buffer len (calculated on line 202, and checked on line 205), considers 2 bytes for the msgLen parameter, but this parameter is only 1 byte long, preventing from using buffers that are the exact (and correct) number of bytes long.Best RegardsGustavo

Hello everyone,I would really like to use the X-NUCLEO-NFC06A1 expansion board in order to transmit power wireless. I read that it should be able to transmit 1.6W of power. At the moment I used the NFC06A1 available library to power up the board. In particular I called the rfalNfcInitialize(), rfalNfcDiscover() and rfalFieldOnAndStartGT(), functions. This way I am able to see that the antennas are functioning properly, but i did some testing and it seems like i can only get very few mA from a receiving antenna.Which is the best way to initialize the board in order to deliver maximum power (regarderless of circumstances)?Thank you very much.

Hello all, my company has decided to use the STM32L03 series for a simple ISO ​14443-3 tag reader, and we underestimated how much memory the full rfal takes up. Can anyone help me find an easier way to cut down the provided polling demo into 16k flash or less? I can scrap all other tag types except the T2T /nfc-a, and I only need read functionality. I am slowly working through and trimming the fat, but if there's a smarter way to limit program memory I'd be very thankful.

I need to use STMCube IDE to work with STEVAL-SMARTAG1. Is there any sample project available ?I might not be required to access any sensors, so if there is any altered code available which only support NFC feature, would be better.#STEVAL-SMARTAG1

The datasheet (https://www.st.com/resource/en/datasheet/st25dv16k.pdf) states that "The impedance on LDP pin when set high doesn't exceed 5kΩ.", which means that a lot of power is wasted just signalling the IC to power down. Am I interpreting this wrong or is the datasheet wrong?

Hello allI use ST25DV64K.​If I2C communication is used to access EEPROM while APP is writing to EEPROM, it will cause an error on APP side.Therefore, I would like to check the status of the NFC tag when it is being written from APP.And while writing from APP I want not to access by I2C communication, how can I do this?Is it possible to find out by reading a register somewhere?I thought one of the "IT_STS_Dyn" would be set to "1" while writing the EEPROM of the NFC tag from APP, but they all stayed at "0".​BRMorooka​

I have a version of nfcPoller linked against rfal v1.3 on Linux 5.10.17. This has been working fine with gcc 7.5/glibc 2.31. We recently bumped our toolchain to gcc 9.4/glibc 2.33 and now I get timeouts while reading anything with an NDEF field (or anything other than a header). For example the custom command `0xAD` is "Read" and `0xCD` is "Fast Read". How should I determine when to use the fast version versus the non-fast version? How does this relate to the `data_rate_flag` in the `request_flags` byte of the RF request packet?Note that when I try using the fast versions of commands using the ST25 demo app, I always get "Tag not found" error using several modern iphone and Android devices. This is true with the `data_rate_flasg` both set and clear. Is this expected? Do I need to do something on either the tag or the phone to enable these fast mode versions of commands?

Hello after importing NFC project example (X-NUCLEO-NFC05A1) to chip "STM32L051C8T6" I get an error: "undefined reference to `globalCommProtectCnt'"I made import of the NFC project many times but never get this error. Only difference from other is that now I have the same interrupt function for EXTI0 and EXTI1. So, instead of "void EXTI0_IRQHandler(void){"I have now "void EXTI0_1_IRQHandler(void)".During importing the project I did:add rfal and ST25R3911 library,add path to this library,add USE_LOGGER to symbol,add demo, logger, platform, spi and usart files to Src and Inc folder,add "st25r3911Isr();" into the folder stm32l0xx_it.c,in platform file change "EXTI0_IRQHandler" to "EXTI0_1_IRQHandler" .Thank you for your time and help,Domen

Hello, I accidentally connected Vcc to the interrupt pin in an X-NUCLEO-NFC06A1, now I don't get any interrupts. Is it terminally burnt or can I configure an IRQ from somewhere else on the board?

How to connect nucleo l476rg with st25ru3993 hpev via spi communication to read the data of the tags? I am using stm cube ide.
