ST25 NFC/RFID tags and readers

Hello, I incorporated the demo_polling.c example from the RFAL library (STM32CubeExpansion_NFC6_V1.1.0) into my custom application.My work uses NFC-V tags and by calling demoCycle() function, the application is able to detect the tag repeatedly. This is the state machine of my app:1) Sensor from custom board detects the presence of an object inserted (contains NFC-V tag).2) App calls demoCycle() repeatedly for a period of 5 seconds, and also services the interrupt from ST25R3916.3) App successfully detects the NFC-V tag (ID and read data block) over and over again.4) App stops calling demoCycle() after 5 seconds.However, I notice if there is no tag activity for about 1 to 2 minutes, the application will stop detecting the tags forever. At this point, when I place a tag nearby, the state is always at RFAL_NFC_STATE_POLL_TECHDETECT. The only way to fix the tag detection is to power cycle the whole board.It appears the ST25R3916 chip is stuck in some mode (maybe sleep or undefined mo

I run the linux demo for X-NUCLEO-NFC06A1 in a raspberry. It starts "Scanning for NFC technologies...", I pass an empty nfc tag to the module and it does not recognize it. I can see the state in demoCycle() passing from state=1 to state=2 (DEMO_ST_DISCOVERY) and it stays there. No interrupt signal in the logic analyzer. I have changed SPI_MAX_FREQ  to 600000 if it matters.I expected an interrupt on tag detection. What are the configurations to do that?

I connect the module to a raspberry pi 3 through SPI, compiled and executed sudo./demo/nfc_demo_st25r3916. I changed the interrupt pin to physical pin 11 because the default was busy.The demo stays at scanning and never detects the module.I ran it with gdb and it is caught in an endless loop in main.c:111.Function "st25r3916CheckChipID" in "Linux_RFAL_st25r3916_v2.2.0/rfal/source/st25r3916/st25r3916.:141" returns ERR_HW_MISMATCH. The ID returned is 0, that would be "old silicon" according to the code comment.I connected SC to the module's CN5 pin 3 and also triyed pin 1.1.How does the read in the register happens if spiTxRx is not called from st25r3916CheckChipID>st25r3916ReadRegister > st25r3916ReadMultipleRegisters > st25r3916comTxByte( ((reg & ~ST25R3916_SPACE_B) | ST25R3916_READ_MODE), true, false );2. what may be wrong in my setup?

my setup is st25dv04k connected with tag on instrument A. cr95hf connected with instrument B. when instrument A comes near to instrument B. i want to confirm that instrument be successfully message in a tag [ which connected to instrument A].on successful reading data by cr95hf , is it possible to send rf command over air to st25dv04k ? also which rf command it need to send ?

I made a new board based on the EVAL board (removing single ended xmit).My issue is even after tuning the radio, my tag detection performance is below the eval board (same parts/layout as far as I can tell, minus 2:1 mux for switching tx paths).Is there any way I can hook up an oscilloscope to see if there's anything strange/clipping with my tx/rx signals?Here's some symptoms:Using the same antenna, at roughly 5m, a tag is consistently detected by the EVAL board.Changing nothing but the UHF RFID Board + retuning, I can still read the same tag, but on the Windows GUI the tag disappears now and then unless I "shake" the tag. Using a handheld vulcan rfid power meter, I see that my output is consistently lower, and animatedly sags and recovers then sags again. While on the eval board, power is pegged at 0dB max constantly (assuming same physical spot/distance from same antenna).On my board, the vulcan rfid power mapper might be pegged at max, while an rfid tag immediately below it can't be

Hello All,I'm trying to receive tag ID through st25r3916 discovery board. I read out the register through PC GUI software tool and try to mimic it on my firmware. I'm new to this board even RFID. I did not find any library that can help to develop my application. Please, let me know if you know any library that I can use. I'm using yocto linux on NXP.Thank you

I see the ADC Pin runs to the STM32 MCU ADC Pin, and that in the firmware demos it prints the adc value to the screen.However I don't see any place the ADC value is used for tuning or anything else other than just random information.For example, for reflected power for tuning, it just uses the I/Q values and has nothing to do with the ADC.How can I use the ADC reading to my advantage? I see that in the Eval that the T2 Input is "Coupled" with the input to the Log Detect Chip. So it seems the Log Detect just helps verify my Tx power is on and perhaps give me some "number" to go along with it.Is it for testing that Modulator control register 3  values for TX_lev is taking effect? Is the ST25RU3993 actually going to Tx a smaller amplitude into a fixed voltage PA? :)Thanks for any knowledge you can share!

I use the standard function " STUHFL_T_RET_CODE Gen2_Lock(STUHFL_T_Gen2_Lock *lockData) " to Lock a Tag, But now I wanted to unlock the same Tag and following the standards information in Gen2 protocol Like the pictures below, I try using the same function but with a different "mask" but don't obtain a successful. Is It possible to Unlock a Tag? Hello I designed a single sided Antenna now i recieved the PCB's soldered the ST25DV04K onto it, but my phone can't find the Tag. Is there a possibility without a network analyser to trobleshoot such a PCB/design?Or would is it better for troubleshooting try to reach the Tag with an X-NUCLEO-NFC05A1?I've added the design file from teh edesign suite.Thank you

What is the hardware,output power difference between ST25RU3993-EVAL &ST25RU3993-HPEV

Hello, I am using the polling demo example from the RFAL library (STM32CubeExpansion_NFC6_V1.1.0) and added it to my custom application. My work now just requires me to use NFC-V tags. Therefore, I only selected RFAL_FEATURE_NFCV but it appears the code doesn't sense the tags in my application. The RFAL initialization is successful too.I have included a screenshot of the RFAL Features Configuration from platform.h. I have disabled a number of RFAL support because I won't be using them.Does some features need to be enabled in order for tag detection to work (ex. LISTEN MODE or WAKEUP mode)?Many thanks.

Hi there,I am new with St25dv04k NFCI want to send data from RF to I2C using ST25DV04K IC by following AN4910 I have followed all the procedure as written in the Application note. I am getting the interrupt but unable to transfer the data from the NFC tag.I also tried using the ST25 NFC tap Android application to write data on the IC using RF and I2C Thanks in advance have a nice day ST community is awesome.

Hi,We have a product on the field using an ST25DV tag with NDEF records, and we also developed an IOS app to interact with it, now, after updating to IOS 14.6, our app stopped working, this is what we discovered so far:Both our App and the IOS ST App (V3.1, latest) stopped detecting our product (on the ST app only on the "Read NDEF" button, the "Read Tag" button still finds it)This is not a problem with an invalid NDEF, I also tested with other ST25DV tags formatted and created with different NFC apps, including the ST appThis problem seems to affect only ISO 15693 tags, I tested with an M24SR tag (ISO 14443), and both our app and the ST app were able to detect itIs ST already aware of this problem? Does anyone knows if is there any workaround for the app to work again? we started receiving complains from customers and the situation will escalate quickly if we don't find a solution.Any help from ST will be appreciated!ThanksGustavo

I want to catch the UART data from the evl board and plot them real-time. This can not be done by the GUI. Therefore, I think I need to change the firmware on the board. I successfully build the firmware by stm32cube ide and flash the .bin file into the board. The firmware can be recognized by the GUI so I suppose there should be no problem. Then, I use a common UART software to open the awake the board, the LEDs light normally. However, I can not receive any UART data. [LOG("FW Version = %02d.%02d.%02d.%02d\n",FW_VERSION_MAJOR, FW_VERSION_MINOR, FW_VERSION_MICRO, FW_VERSION_NANO);] This code should transmit the UART data to the PC, right?I am pretty sure the UART setting on PC is correct since I had check the UART_init in the board firmware. What will be the problem?My main purpose is to active the scanning and receive the UART data. Is there any suggestion on the modification of the source code?Many thanks

I have development board of ST25RU3993 HPEV. I am testing TAG detection uising GUI application -provided by STM.As this application works using USB interface between STM MCU and HOST. Instead of USB interface I want to check UART communication with HOST.Can you plese ket us know how can i check UART communication and where to take wires and what changes are required in hardware.Also I need some informatrion of protocol because we need to develop a application on UART to read tag information

I can use st25DVTag.writeMailboxMessage(bytes) to write the Mailbox,I can also use st25DVTag.readMailboxMessageLength() to get the length of message(it returns 1),but when I try to read the Mailbox message,it throw a com.st.st25sdk.STException: Error CMD_FAILED.st25DVTag.readMailboxMessage(0, 0) or st25DVTag.readMailboxMessage(0, 1), both of them can occur exception.How can I read the MailboxMessage?​

I am currently using a st25r3916 chip in my application (embedded) and downloaded the  ST25 Embedded NFC library (STSW-ST25R-LIB).All I want at this point is a proof of concept that the st25r3916 chip sends an interrupt to my application each time a rfid tag is detected. I don't need to read the tag id yet at this point. From the library, the closest example is demo_polling.c but is code-heavy.I would like to ask is the quickest and simplest way to get this working is:1) Call rfalNfcInitialize() and rfalWakeUpModeStart(NULL)? Is there anything else needed for initialization?2) Is interrupt already enabled after #1 (above) is performed?3) Does that mean that if I place a rfid-enable tag near the chip, I will receive an interrupt?4) After the interrupt, do I just call one of the rfal function (which one in particular?) to read the ID from the tag?Thank you all

I am using st25r3911b. I got the firmware package from ST website but the code is to heavy. It is sending data on USB or either UART but I don't want to use that. Can I get a simple code where I can get only interrupt and NFC TAG ID?

I know 0402 parts are better for an RF design for various reasons. How much of a performance loss would result in using 0603 parts instead with the ST25R3916?

Hi,I'm currently trying to read and write EEPROM memory of a NTAG213.Using X-NUCLEO-NFC03A1 and NUCLEO board the tag is detected as "ISO14443A/NFC-A".Looking at source code example there is no method to read/write EEPROM data for this kind of tag (only for NFCDEP and T4T). I can see that both read/write method implemented in demo code use the function demoTransceiveBlocking to exchange data.My question is: Is it possible to use this function with my kind of tag to read/write data? My guess is that I need to adapt data sent to tag according NTAG213/215/216 specification, but I'd like to be sure.ThanksSylvain SERRE

what is the correct schematic to refer to for ST25R3916 ? The schematic files downloaded from the st website is different from the schematic proposed in the matching tool for 3916-aat
