STM32 MCUs Products

Hi all,We’re a small startup developing a commercial product using an STM32H755ZI, and we’re getting ready to ship. One of the key things we want to bulletproof before launch is firmware recovery for end users, especially in case the firmware upload fails (e.g., they unplug during flashing, or the update crashes). At the moment we erase the flash memory and uploads elf files using dfu utils. It works most of the times but we've noticed that when it fails there is no way of getting the device running again unless st-link is used. Even having a switch for boot pin is not helping.Here are our questions:• Is relying on the dfu utils safe and recommended for production units?• What are the best practices for implementing this kind of user-friendly recovery flow?• Are there better tools or alternatives to dfu-util for desktop apps?

Hi, newbie here - I have some experience with the f4 series, but am working on a small project for which I would like to try a stm32u0 MCU. Looking at the stm32u031 20-pin TSSOP, I am confused by something. When I load this MCU in cubeMX, and tick on I2C 1, I see a single pin 'light up' for both SCL and SDA. The datasheet implies I should be able to choose a pin with an alternate function for one of these, but I can't figure out how I might do this....I see pin PA8 seems to have an alternate mapping to PA9, which seems like it might work for i2cSCL, but I don't know how to select it. I feel like an ***, but I'm unsure how to configure this using cubeMX, or how one is meant to work with these apparently-double-functioned pins? Thanks!

Hello,As per CM4 guide and TRM of Nucleo f446re,interruot vector table is array of function pointers and each pointer holds the entry address(initial address) of each IRQ_handler, Where interrupt IRQ_number is used for indexing.While debugging I failed to observe the intial address of teh reset handler and USART2_Handler at location 0x0000 0004 and 0x0000 00DC respectively.Please find the samething in attachments.Address fo the IRQ_handlers are available in expressions window snapshot and actuall value stored at location 0x0000 0004 and 0x0000 00DC is not matching.Am I missing something here?I am just verifying my understanding -->"At each location in IVTable,address oif IRQ handlers should be ther (&<IRQ_Handler_Name>

So, I've got a circular transfer working, sending 24-bit words to a dual channel SPI DAC (with hardware NSS), paced by TIM2 and working well. For every edge of TIM2 a word is sent. Since this is a dual channel DAC, I would ideally like the transfer 2 words for each pulse of TIM2. So if I had a buffer [ADATA1, BDATA2, ADATA1, BDATA2, etc..], we would send ADATA1, and immediately (after the idle cycles setup for SPI) send BDATA1, then on the next trigger edge, do the same for ADATA2 and BDATA2. Is this possible? Maybe with the 2D addressing channels? I cannot simply set the timer exactly twice as fast as the one that my ADC is using or else they slightly loose sync and get really ugly jitter. Not sure what this is but it just won't work for me. With my ADC DMA and DAC using the same timer they are locked up perfectly and no jitter.

Hello,I am using STM32F030C8T6 to implement Modbus RTU protocol which uses UART and RS485 as physical layer.I have already implemented the complete protocol with UART's RXNE and TCIE interrupts.Now I am trying to implement through DMA by which I will free micro-controller core from lot of interrupts.With great support from ST forum, I already implemented Tx using DMA.Now I m trying to implement the RX logics using UART through DMA.As usual I am stuck somewhere and I request your support. Please help me to fix this issue too.As per the Modbus protocol, my hardware as a slave will read sequence bytes, process and then respond.Length of sequence will not be known during reception of the bytes.Slave must decide the length of frame when there a silence in the Rx for more than 3.5 times of character length.For this logic, I have used IDLE Line interrupt to detect initial silence then, inside the IDLE ISR I start Timer 3 in OPM

Setup: NUCLEO-H503RB with X-NUCLEO-IKS4A1, using STM32CubeIDE. To familiarize myself with I3C, I am playing around in this setup and have some source code which causes I3C interaction between controller and target. I have a logic analyzer attached, and all looks good. However, this only works when executing the code without breakpoints. As soon as I break to debug, I can never see the "Tx FIFO not full flag" in the event register but the code relies on it. When I continue stepping, the code obviously misbehaves because it doesn't see the flag either. Code that was executed without breakpoints does see the flag and behaves as expected. Does the flag auto-clear after a while? Where is this documented? Why do I never see it in the debugger? This prevents me from stepping through the code which contradicts the purpose of my setup. Example: I hit a breakpoint in the interrupt handler in stm32h5xx_hal_i3c.c.

Hello,I'm using LPUART1 (STM32U0) for modbus communication and using STOP2 mode to go sleep until new modbus query has requested.Strange things happen, on console I can see prints like "Target is not responding, retrying...".Here is my clock configuration, which I want to reconfirm And the STOP2 mode logic, here tried to toggle LED after wakeup, but it is observed that sometimes it works and sometimes not. Actually, if I disable function enterLowPowerMode() then everything works fine also no print message on consol (like "Target is not responding, retrying...")

Hi Team, Currently I am using STM32U58I-IOT02A  Board and implementing UART Transmit and receive, I am seeing that it is not printing anything on the PUTTY terminal, Can anyone suggest me how to handle this issue. Im using the following code that is part of a metal detector I'm building. Im trying to trigger the ADC based on TRGO of TIM2 (I need dma / adc readings every 10us after the of each TX pulse). I expect the TIM2_IRQHandler interrupt to enter 10us (ADC_DELAY_US) after the TX pulse ends (TIM1_CC_IRQHandler). Stm32F746G DISCOMy program was written to accidentally flash a value to be stored in the wrong location. the display would be unresponsive so I'd reboot it without issue. My software still worked normally, it's only when it encounters that line. How I think I bricked it was when I ran it though debugging, that's when I couldn't connect it via st link. It would say no stm device found.The strange thing is, I was able to connect to it via a different usb port and unbrick the device. When I ran the debugger again I bricked it the second time. How could this be?It tells me this might not necessarily be solely a hardware issue but something in conjunction with Windows. I've spent all night uninstalling, reinstalling drivers, fiddling with boot0 pin and bootloader, using different settings with st programmer, etc. Under normal circumstances id just buy a new board but I'm not in a position to do so, I need this urgently fixed by thi

I am trying to configure the HS OTG port on the STM32H747I-DISCO dev board, but setting "Use external vbus" seems to be not enough. I can measure 0.8V on the CPEN line (measured from R11) but I don't see anything on the OUT line of the voltage switch (measured from the positive terminal of C7) and LD7 does not turn on. Is 0.8V the expected output voltage for CPEN? I do not see a value for TYP on the USB3320C-EZK datasheet. Is there more configuration I am missing?

STM32G473CB has 3 DAC channel outputs.  a. Can these three DAC channels output a 100KHz triangle wave signal at the same time? b. In addition to the triangular wave, can the output signal output an irregular 100KHz waveform? thanks

Hi I have a simple question about DFSDM configuration. I want to apply sinc5 with 32 samples length and therefore get 32 times decimation. Btw, I use internal ADC1/ADC2 in dual mode. STM32H725.Thus, for a given ADC frequency F I expect to get decimated frequency Fd = F/32. Here I assume that FOSR = 32 and IOSR = 1. To my opinion there should be no dependency of sinc order X.But I see quite different results. To be more accurate, I use one channel/filter block with FOSR = 1, and another one with a combination of FOSR and X to be investigated. I compared decimated frequencies of the filters and experimentally got the following relation between F and Fd (i.e. input frequency and decimated frequency):Fd = F/((FOSR+1)*X+0.85) for all FOSR > 1. Hi,I am accessing a DRV8873s motor driver (SPI version) on two different NUCLEO boards. My usage is limited to reading data from 2 registries.I got it to work on a NUCLEO-STM32F411RE using SPI2, with the following settings:Motorola format, 8 bits, MSB first, prescaler 32 to get a 1.5625 Mbits/s rate, CPOL = low and CPHA = 2Edge.Now I try to do the same with a NUCLEO-STM32F767ZI and the same code and configuration (apart from the baud rate, set to 1.6875 MHz) don't work anymore.I have tried SPI4 and SPI5 on this board with the same result: the data read by HAL_SPI_TransmitReceive is not correct.Is there a difference in the way STM32F4 and STM32F7 perform SPI communication, or in the electronics? 

I've been trying to set up a timer and DMA to run a synchronous parallel bus onto a GPIO. The timer works great but the DMA keeps failing with a transaction error interrupt and disables the stream. This is on an STM32F413 chip and using TIM2_CH1 as a PWM output and DMA1 Stream 1 connected to TIM2_UP event. Hi there, We are having some issues with our STM32H7 when the MCU is heated above approximately 55C. This leads to a fault of some form within the STM32 which prevents it from reading an external flash which the code is being run from. This memory is MX66UM1G45GXDI00 being run in memory mapped mode and XIP. We also have external RAM setup on the other XSPI interface, APS256XXN-OBR-BG, with the design being based on the STM32H7S7-DK.The XSPI devices are being run at 1.8V and we have confirmed that all the rails (3.3V, VDD, VCore) are up and stable. Both XSPI devices are being run at 200MHz. We saw a similar forum thread where there was discussion about the SBS Cell Compensation used in the XPI where there was speculation that issues could arise from updating the compensation value during operation. When using HAL_SPI_Transmit_DMA with STM32743, must the transmission data buffer and reception data buffer be placed in D1 RAM?Also, is there a way to dynamically allocate D1 RAM? Rather than declaring an array placed in section("D1"), I would like to dynamically allocate it like malloc. Is this possible?
