STM32 MCUs Software development tools

Hi everyone,I recently flashed new firmware onto my STM32F4 board using STM32CubeProgrammer, and now the tool won’t detect the device over USB anymore.It was working fine before the flash, and nothing in the hardware setup has changed. The device still powers on, and I can see the USB connection briefly appear in Device Manager, but STM32CubeProgrammer shows “No ST-Link detected” or just hangs on connection.I’ve tried different cables and ports, and even reinstalled the drivers, but no luck so far. Is it possible that the firmware flash disabled USB or changed the boot mode somehow?Also, if anyone has recommendations for tools that start with S (like ST-Link Utility or Serial monitors) that might help troubleshoot STM32 connections, I’d appreciate it.Thanks!

Hi @STTwo-32  & Community, This issue was reported a long time ago but I'm seeing something similar again now. In my case it's the definition HAL_UART_MODE_ENABLED for my STM32H755 project, this define being put into stm32h7xx_conf.h after each code re-generation. My project began as one targeting the H755 Nucleo and at that point there was not problem. The problem arose after migrating to my custom H755 PCB, at which point I removed the Nucleo BSP stuff in MX (CubeIDE MX perspective); I also removed some other unwanted things such as Ethernet support (& LWIP) I have no UART/USART in my project and can't think of any reason why the UART definition should be getting into my HAL config. Viewing HAL modules in the MX Project settings does not show any peripherals other than those I'm expecting. My .ioc is attached in case it's helpful. Hello,I am currently working on a config file for STM32H723ZGTx (LQFP144). I am setting up ADC1 and want to select "Conversion Data Management Mode" to be DMA one shot instead of regular conversion to DR register. However, I cannot seem to select this option, is there other settings blocking it? or am I missing something else ? I am really new at this cubeIDE :))Thanks for your time,Kewin  

Hi! I'm trying to program a Creality 3D printer 4.2.5 board with an STLINK. This board has a STM32F103RE MCU. I've already successfully flashed this board more than once before with STM32CubeProgrammer. I recall at first it wasn't allowing me to connect either, but then I used the reset jumper on the board to reset the MCU and removed the jumper wire right after hitting Connect and it allowed me to connect. But after programming an open source bootloader and then the main 3D printer firmware right afterwards I'm now unable to connect again. The issue is that I did this (with the Reset jumper wire) whilst the board was on my desk, and not mounted inside the fully enclosed printer. It's not possible for me to be fast enough to hit Connect and turn myself to the printer behind me to remove the jumper wire. So I was wondering if it was possible to connect the Reset pin from the STLINK to the correct jumper pin attached to the Reset pin on the MCU to automatica

Hello,  I'm learning about the STM32N6 LR and XIP examples and want to get hands-on with them. I've already set OTP124 to 0x8000.   If SYSB is configured to 400MHz, the number of memory data lines must be set to 1 line and disable "X_ICACHE_Init()" for the app to function.   However, if SYSB is set to 80MHz, the number of memory data lines can be configured to 8 lines  and disable "X_ICACHE_Init()", and the app still works.   I'm very confused by this result and wonder if anyone has encountered the same problem or knows what I should modify? The last couple of months I have been developing on an STM32H757I-EVAL board. Programming and debugging (multi-core) works reasonably well; although sometimes I need to re-power the board.During the last weeks, we transitioned from the EVAL board to the actual PCB design. Since then I have a lot of issues with debugging of the board.I use the ST-LINKV2 debugger in combination with STM32CubeIDE 1.18.0.Most of the times, the ST-LINK GDB server refuses to connect with the following error:Target connection mode: Under resetTarget connection failedTarget no device foundError in initializing ST-LINK device.Reason: No device found on target.Playing around with the setting shows that the ST-LINK GDB server does not connect when having the '--halt' option specified (to halt both cores). Hi All,I am using STM32H747IDISCO kit.I load example project HSEM_COreSync into STM32CubeIDE(version 1.18.1) , and set a breakpoint at"BSP_LED_On(LED3);" line in main function on Cortex®-M4 side. And I start debug, but break doesn't occur.I recognize LED3 is turned ON after LED1 turned OFF. Hello,Excuse me for being such a noob here but I'm having an issue with an STM32H7A3RTI6. I flash a basic blinky program with the stlink and then when I go to disconnect/reconnect the stlink to supply power to the chip it doesn't start up the program. I have to manually set NRST to ground to start the program again.Is there a way to toggle this pin at power up or am I doing something wrong?Thank you.

I am looking for a way to use a different editor for a STM32CubeIDE project. For the editor to show correct errors and provide code-completion, I would need a compile_commands.json file, which the clangd language server can use.I found this post which describes how to generate this file using an external program called compiledb. This situation arose when working with the Nucleo-G0B1RE board and Cube Version: 1.18.1.It was desired to do per-byte reception over UART channel 5 on PD2/3 with interrupts.  The VAST majority of articles discussing this process state to use the HAL_UART_RxCpltCallback() function to read the byte from the UART buffer, since this function gets called by the ISR chain on UART interrupt.  However, these same articles also frequently fail to mention the following:1) The HAL_UART_RxCpltCallback won't get called unless it gets registered first.  This can be done with the HAL_UART_RegisterCallback() function...2) ...BUT, even if you register functions in this manner, they won't be used unless enabled by internal configuration files. To do that, you have to pull up the IOC file and go to the Project Manager section.  Go to the "Advanced Settings" and you will see that you have to explicitly enable callbacks for each peripheral (Not known if enabling USAR

Bug Description:When regenerating a CubeMX Project with the STM32CubeIDE Toolchain selected, CubeMX will change the ".cproject" file and add a "./Startup/" directory to the source locations of the project if the following conditions are present:1. In the root directory of the project (where the .ioc file is located) you need to have a directory with a name that is alphabetically closer to 'A' than the "./Core/" Directory. For example "./Application/"2. In this directory there needs to be a "main.c" file, which would be created by the user. This will cause CubeIDE to output a warning message on each build, stating that "./Startup/" could not be found. If the directory name comes after "Core" alphabetically everything is working like expected and no "Startup" directory is added as a source location to the project configuration. Version:This behaviour is reproducible with CubeMX version 6.14.0. recently purchased the NUCLEO-N657X0-Q development board and began testing the programming process. Using ST-Link, I’m able to successfully flash either the FSBL or the application firmware individually. However, after pressing the RESET button, the flashed program disappears, indicating that it wasn’t permanently stored.Upon further investigation, I learned that the FSBL and application need to be flashed separately using an external programmer, targeting the external Flash. Despite configuring the BOOT pins (BOOT0 = 0, BOOT1 = 1) as recommended, I haven’t been able to successfully program the external Flash using the programmer.I would like to ask:What is the correct procedure to flash both FSBL and application into external Flash?Are there any specific tools, configurations, or memory mapping requirements I should be aware of?Could this be related to linker script settings or Flash offset configurations?

I recently installed STM32CubeIDE on a new computer for the first time. Starting out my first project, and I immediately run into an issue that makes the MX portion basically completely un-usable. The problem is that when I want to change the configuration of a pin I simply... can't.For example, if I want to change PA2 (USART2_TX) Maximum output speed from low to high, before I would simply click on "low" and a small menu would pop-up that would let me change it to "high", and now that is just gone.All I can do is change the user label in the pinout view (which will make the configuration refresh and I will see the user label appear) but for example, I cannot simply click on User Label in the configuration window and type something in, it just wont let me do that.I have sure everything is running on the latest version; the IDE and all associated packages, as well as all my drivers and windows itself. I have tried completely uninstalling and re-installing CubeIDE, and when I say complet
