STM32CubeMX2 (MCUs)

Hello,This is for test BOOT1 jumper is set to HIGH for development (DEV boot mode) I have a simple LED blink application built with GPIO configured in the FSBL context The code runs as expected in DEV mode (debug mode of STM32CubeIDE) I then flashed the signed binary in external memory using STM32CubeProgrammer and External Memory loader for Nucleo-N6 board at address 0x70000000.  Then, I switched BOOT-1 jumper to LOW and reset the board. The code runs as expected from external memory  Edit: new test 😀 

Hello, I would like to learn if there is an easy way in STM32CubeMX2 to start a new project with an existing ioc2 file. It seems that the only way I can do this is make a copy of the ioc2 file, do a text find and replace for the name of the project and reopen the project in MX2.In essence, I like to start a project from a working ioc2 configuration and modify it to work on a fork of the project. I don't want to recreate a complex configuration from scratch because I found the hard way that it is easy to make mistakes or to omit something. Thank you,-Gil  

Hello, I used MX2 for the last two weeks and it is a great improvement over MX. I build many small projects with it and I am constantly running into a problem related to timer configuration. I enter the values for the Prescaler and the Counter period as Integers and unfortunately when I close the project and reopen MX2 converts the value to Hex (and indicates that it is a Hex value). I keep forgetting that MX2 does this and I enter a new value as an Int thinking that my selection was sticky. Could you make the Int/Hex selection sticky? It's a small issue but it will save developers some trouble. Thank you,Gil 

Hello everyone,I’m trying to develop a new project using an STM32C552RET6 with a TFT display.I’d like to use TouchGFX for this, but I can’t find any instructions in CubeMX2 on how to configure a project as a graphical application.I saw some examples in TouchGFX Designer using the STM32C5, but I got the impression that the integration was done manually.So, does anyone know if CubeMX2 has this functionality?Thanks,Matheus

Hello , i would like to know how can we set the pwm channels in stm32cubemx as well as the serial wire debug , because i want to set up a project with  STM32C5A3RGT6 but under the debug we have no 2 wire serial wire debug option. when generating cmake file from CubeMX2, CMakeLists.txt states: cmake_minimum_required(VERSION 3.20) but in fact you need a minimum version of 3.3:

Hello ,   I was planning on using the new STM32C5A3RGT6 for my new project but after reading the comments regarding the stm32cubemx2 , i am reconsidering this decision. I also saw that zephyr is providing support for stm32c5.    My question would be then what would be a good source for learning stm32cubemx2 because coming from stm32cubeide 1.17 it is a big change.

Hi @Ghofrane GSOURI. I just noticed new STM32CubeMX2. It's for STM32C series currently but I downloaded it to check it out. It looks very nice, that's for sure. Yet this topic is about file format. MX2 re-uses .ioc file extension but it's format is strange. It is made of JSON/Python?? multiline strings containing JSON and YAML. I don't understand what format is it exactly. The data inside it is also hard to understand and there is a lot of clutter, like IDs, URIs, URLs, descriptions, etc. Why on earth would somebody put field description text beside field name and value?If I may express may opinion - this is awful. It's even worse than old format. It won't be easy to merge changes in such file. It looks like it's a mash-up of multiple tools/libraries serialized states. CubeMX developers are going to have backward and forward compatibility problems and end users are going to suffer if bugs emerge.I would like to suggest one more file format: TOMLEdit: Moved from New IOC file f

In CubeMX2 when configuring the I2S peripheral on an STM32C542 running from a clock of 144MHz and selecting an audio clock rate of 96000Hz, CubeMX2 computes a nearest reachable frequency of 97826Hz (I2SDIV = 23, ODD = 0). When code is generated and run on actual hardware, the HAL2 I2S driver computes a different value of 95744Hz (I2SDIV = 23, ODD = 1). The HAL2 hardware value has less error from the desired 96000Hz than the value reported by CubeMX2, but the CubeMX2 value may be used in designing other aspects of the firmware and result in unexpected performance.    

Hello,I generated a project using STM32CubeMX2 for Nucleo-C5A3ZG and I imported the project using the 'STM32CubeMX2 Project' option into STM32CubeIDE. I can compile and link the code without any issues however I noticed that there is only one build configuration (debug_GCC_NUCLEO-C5A3ZG for my project). Can STM32CubeMX2 also create a release  build configuration?My second related question what is the best way to add compile flags? I managed to add a -DDEBUG flag to the flags.cmake file and it works fine. Is this the right way to do it? Would project regeneration be troubled by this change?Finally, if I opted in for 'Assert checks on function parameters' and 'Assert checks on module state' in STM32CubeMX2 HAL System Init is there a way to only have this functionality enabled only for a debug build? Thank you,Gil 

I noticed that STM32CubeMX2 (DEBUG features page) offers only three debug modes: JTAG 4‑pin, JTAG 5‑pin, and Single Wire Trace Asynchronous.In many practical cases, developers use only the SWCLK and SWDIO lines to save pins, so the absence of a simple Serial Wire option (without Trace) seems to be a limitation of the current STM32CubeMX2 release.This option is still available in STM32CubeMX1 when working with similar MCUs, such as the STM32H5 series.Is this understanding correct?

Hello, I have a problem verifying the HCLK frequency for Nucleo-C562RE. I configure the clock to 144MHz (see image below). Finally was able to test STM32CubeMX2 with a NUCLEO-C562RE board.Simple LED blinking project, and here's what I found out. Project bloat:STM32CubeMX2: 26.2 MB of generated data and when compiled 41.1 MB (NUCLEO-C562RE)STM32CubeMX: 4.6 MB generated and compiled 15.7 MB (NUCLEO-C031C6, same functionality) The old STM32CubeMX included only the HAL libraries actually used.The new one dumps everything in.That's a 5.7x increase for a blink LED. Missing Release configuration:Generated CMake project contains only Debug configuration - No Release.Interesting, because the official "MOOC STM32CubeMX2" video at 4:53 clearly shows both configurations.Either something changed or the video is misleading. Creating Release configuration manually requires editing multiple CMake files, including inside the cmake folder — supposedly overwritten on regeneration (in practice, changed only at project creation).Not trivial if you're not a CMake expert.I did it once manually, but then ended up using Claud

He tries to get it working, browse through the features, and has a lot of opinion on this matter.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61r83TTzDfk End of the day, IF you plan to use future STM32 families (starting with STM32C5) you have no choice than to use CubeMX2 AND the very painful migration from HAL to HAL2 (not compatible, maybe some future tool can assist in such migration). Even if migration is possible, then you will have the pleasure to support multiple versions of YOUR code on old vs new MCU families. Have FUN. For the people without perfect vision (like myself), embrace yourself for 4 pixels font sizes, and contrast-free dark-white-on-white-backgrounds text. Lovely! Hi,How do I generate a project for STM32CubeIDE using STM32cubeMX2? Apparently, the only options are cmake, IAR, and open-cmsis (Keil). And is it possible to open examples from STM32CubeC5 using STM32CubeIDE?Ari

Heyho, wanted to check if C5 might be good for next project and have a first look at MX2. Installed it, started project with C562 / Nucleo - and nothing happens, except for a short error message in the bottom right corner of the window: "error when downloading packs" ( + some file name). Further info: - Windows 11 - started MX2 first as normal user, then as admin, same behaviour - all other STM32 tools running fine (MX1, IDE, Prog)

Yesterday I was able to generate a cmake project which included main.c/h files. I opened the project in VS Code but had errors trying to build. I had VS code fix the errors so now I am able to build the project. Today, I generated another project but the main.c/h files are missing as seen in the screen shot. I've timed the project generation and it takes 3 minutes to generate a project. Why so long? Why are the IOC files created outside of the project folder?      

when you enable SWD in CubeMX2 it automatically blocks the SWO pin as well (tested using C531FBP6), but I only need SWCLK / SWDIO to debug. please add a way to disable the use of SWO.

Hello,I tried to install the STM32CubeMX2 on Linux Lite 6.6 which is base on Ubuntu 22.04, but get unsupport file error.I double check that I allow this file to run as a program. Is there any guide on how to install it on Linux? Thank you.

There is no USBX or other middleware in my cubemx2, but the connection introduction indicates that it is available. How to access middleware & utilities - STM32CubeMX2 1.0.0 documentation    

The STM32CubeIDE project output setting is not present in STM32CubeMX2. Is there a way to generate a project that STM32CubeIDE can use? How do I do this? I did try the "CMake" option but wasn't able to get a project to import correctly.
