Hello,I have a X-NUCLEO-53L5A1 board wired up with SDA, SCL, 5V, PWR_EN and GND only. The sensor works and current draw is as expected in its ranging and LP idle states. However, when first booted up it will draw a normal 6mA in its HP idle then will do its ranging and afterwards draw 22mA. There is ~15mA on IOVDD and 6.35 on AVDD. The same issue occurs when I set it to HP idle directly and give it nothing to run. Do you know the reasoning for why it draws so much current?Thanks,Jacob

Hi,I am using VL53L3X with MPU having voltage level 1.8V. In the data sheet it is mentioned that IOVDD typical voltage level is 1.8V in standard mode and 2.8V in 2.8V mode.I want to make sure my design is correct to use VL53L3CX in 1.8V standard mode. 

Is it possible to implement simple gestures on a single sensor VL53L3?

I am trying to measure with the sensor VL53L4CX controlled by an ESP32 (4MB Flash) on ESP IDF. I have installed the drivers STSW-IMG029 v1.2.8 and implemented the I2C functions to read from the sensor, but the ESP32 boot when the I2C read something from VL53L4CX showing this error: I don't know if there is a problem with the drivers that corrupts the ESP32 memory. In the same project i am able to read from VL53L1X and VL53L0X without problem.

I apologize I have not read ALL of the related documentation but have read enough to feel it may be hard to resolve this question:I would like to employ the VL53L1X to detect object flow, i.e. people, however as someone has already point out it requires continual scanning, hence consuming more power than a cordless/battery can provide over long period. So, I would like to use some other mechanism to detect a person in the area, e.g. sound, PIR, etc and then start scanning for flow from one zone to next. I have read about "hw standby" and "sw standby", as well as boot. But it's unclear the minimum duration of these and how they effect ability to start scanning and trying to determine flow. So...1) What is the the use/interpretation/timing of the HW standby?2) What is the minimum time to first scan (i.e. ranging of the in zone or out zone early enough to catch direction of low) when power is already applied, but XShut is used to "wake up" and start scan?3) What is the minimum time to fir

Hi,I am using the VL53L1X sensor interface on my MCU platform. I am able to get the data while there is an object. But the distance is not matching as per my object.Less than 20cm it is able to detect, but after that it is not giving any stable values. Instead of a 50 cm object, it is showing 120cm.I got this sensor breakout board from the online 3rd party distributor.Could suggest where the issue is to get the constant values.Regards,Kumar

Hi,I want to implement the vl53L3cx onto my own board , using CUBEIDE , HAL driver and an STM32G473CCT6 controller.I have read dozens of documents, but it's quite overwhelming and not clear which API to use.I have now implemented this API in my project : VL53Lx_API The complementing documentation is VL53L0X_API_v1.0.4.4960_externalx.pdf .This is already strange as my device is VL53L3 and not VL53L0 I can sum up al inconsistencies I occurred and put them in questions, but maybe its faster to ask for a guideline and links to documentation I need to implement this sensor in my own board.What I want is 1)     Load the sensors firmware trough I2C at startup2)     Using the correct API to communicate with the sensorThank youSteve

I'm researching the usefulness of the VL53L1X for people flow detection in/out of a room. I know example given but I'm left with two questions:A) Which of the SM ToF sensors in VL53 series might provide same capability as example?B) Without experience and experimentation I'm unclear how low the power consumption would be for a door sensor based on VL53L1, for example, so I can determine battery life? Also, what mode, settings, and sampling approach etc would ideally provide an interrupt driven continuous door sensing capability with minimum power consumption?Thanks for your consideration.

Hi, i'm wondering what is the optimal distance and target reflectance for calibration process function VL53L1_PerformOffsetCalibration()?Also about Xtalk calibration process function VL53L1_PerformSingleTargetXTalkCalibration() shall be feeded with a distance, may this distance parameter be the same as the distance for calibration process? shall it be related to the transparent protective cap thickness?

Hi there,I'm trying to read some motion data from VL53L5 but so far no luck. I initialize the sensor using vl53l5cx_motion_indicator_init() with default values and then read motion_indicator.motion[i] but all I get is zero values in this array despite creating some motion in front of the sensor. Is there any sample code/ app note available that I can follow?

I have downloaded and implemented VL53L4CX driver following the example code. First I opened the provided example with CubeIDE (v1.8.0) and it failed to build. Looks like a fragment of refactoring. Also a source file was missing a struct definition, so I added an include. I don't know if this is where it should be, but it passes the build and the project works (on f411RE nucleo with provided shield).You can find the issue in my repository on github(i can't post link): "prtzl/vl53l4cx-demo", the fix was applied in commit: a40dfe72b40925ff08c20e87ce3c31ecaa8062c4Regards,Matej

Hello this is my first stm32 project. my goal is to use the stm32 to read sensor values and send them over lora to somewhere else. However i am not getting past reading a single value from the Sensor.First of all there seems to be more than one version of the driver. I found one driver.zip with the following name: 'en.STSW-IMG007_v2.4.5' and another with the name 'en.STSW-IMG009_v3.5.1'. One seems to be a newer version and is using less files/space but it has tons of weird files in there that don't really have to do anything with the sensor? For example there is a canbus example for the STM32L4xx...The IMG007 for some reason has plattform code for a windows machine. Why would i want to use this sensor with a windows machine? Its missing windows.h but i don't think i need it.Which of these would be the right driver for me? And how would i go about using it? Do i 'just' implement the plattform files and then the sensor works? How would i know what has to be written in the plattform files

We are using this sensor to measure the distance between the sensor and a human eye.I need to know if this is a safe tool to use in this matter

Intensity of visible light is measured in lux, but by definition this cannot be used for IR light, which is not on the visible spectrum. What is the intensity of the IR emitter on the VL6180X and what would the units be?
