Hello! I am designing a wide input range flyback converter using the altair04-900 for my formula student team.For testing the switching behaviour, I simulated the ALTAIR04-900 using the schematics in the datasheet of figure 4-7. figure 4-6 shows results comparable with the values specified on the datasheet- with Idss(off) being 104uA instead of 80uA. Simulating figure 7 I made the following assumption: the IC should actually switch. My reasoning: Icc has the value of the operating current as stated in the datasheet. However the simulation results show discrepancies (reference see „simfigure7“); Icc has the expected value, but voltage at ZCD never goes above arming threshhold, therefore the IC should not be able to switch. My explanation: Some kind of brown-out, as Vzcd is below the internal clamping voltage as stated in the datasheet. Also notable: Vdc above 2.79V on COMP pin gives a converging error. Instead, I used a close value of 2.79Vdc. For further testing I altered figure 7 (ref

I cannot see the effect of the low speed optimization.I set speed to 1 rpm and watch the phase currents.With these settings (these values are readbacks):min_speed: 0x1fdfconfig: 0x2c90step_mode: 0x0007I get significant distortion around 0 A:To compare, with min_speed == 0 (so LSPD_OPT off):As you can see, same distortion around 0.KVAL_RUN at 0x0f, my motor is specified to 4 A.What is going on? Why doesn't LSPD_OPT seem to bite? I have seen that the datasheet is a little shady about that bit, it might be that?

The PowerSTEP01's datasheet says on page 34 that MIN_SPEED is 12 bits wide.On page 37, it is described as 13 bits wide.I suppose that 13 is correct, from code I've read online, but a confirmation (and fix) would be nice. I cannot see the low speed optimization have any effect whatsoever on my phase currents, running from 1 rpm (even lower), to around 8 rpm, where the optimization doesn't seem needed anyway. Any help on how to fix it would be appreciated (running with MIN_SPEED to 0x00 or 0x1fdf, does not affect the current wave at 1 rpm).

Hello Team,We have selected part no: LDK220 and LDK320 with a SOT-89 footprint for one of our applications. We have referred to the complete datasheet, but we have not found the test results for 5V output category devices, like the voltage dropout of 5V 100mA with all operating temperature ranges. Can you please provide the document or suggest any section where this kind of test results are available for reference? Awaiting your reference!ThanksJayjit Y

I've been looking at the STEVAL-ISD01KCB, and I saw in an image that it has some capacitors between pins 8 (-DC) and 9 (+DC). What is the value of that capacitor? Is it necessary to include it? I ask because I've noticed that this capacitor slightly reduces the distance between the -DC and +DC pins.

I have a design running on 24V SLA batteries using STEF01 fuses for protection of the lower powered rails and an LT4356 using external MOSFETs for a 25Amp rail. That 25A rail is giving me headaches. Staying within the SOA of the MOSFETs is not that easy when the output is started up shorted, and even though it works on the bench it fails from time to time in the field. The STEF01 fuses  have been performing flawlessly. Now, the load on the 25A line is a parallel wound DC motor and an external motor controller. The field winding is powered directly from the 25A line, the armature is powered by external electronics which takes some time to power up. Thus, the load on the 25A line is both a large capacitance (external electronics input capacitance; 3000+uF) parallel to a large inductor (oh joy. Yes, I do have transient voltage limiting..). I cannot change this arrangement.  I wonder if I could parallel 5 or 6 STEF01 fuses by interconnecting UVLO/dvdt/Vclamp/E

Hello Everybody, I'm new in this place. I use an Evalboard ISC005V1 with STUSB4500 and an dedicate MCU to manage I²C port. I wanted to change the configuration of the PDO3 from 20V to 15V. I select PORT3 ( write 3 in 0x70 register ) I configure DPM_REQ_RDO3 register ( adress 0x91 )  with 0x96, 0xB0, 0x04 and 0x00. I soft reset the STUS4500  But nothing change. VBUS and PDO3 out still 20V???   What's wrong Thanks for the help!        

Hello ST community,I have two STEVAL-WBC86TX transmitter boards that appear to be locked. The boards still charge a phone when powered, but the I²C reset tool provided by ST cannot communicate with the main IC. I've tried FT260 recovery tool.    I would like to know whether there is a recovery or reprogramming method. Thank you for any guidance.

Hi, We have been testing our H-bridge on 2 EVALSTGAP2HDM with IPP026N10NF2S MOSFETs. The gate resistances are as per the EVAL board. We are seeing huge ringing on the gate signals for the low side FETs on both boards with no load connected. The high side gate signals are clean and no ringing is observed. We have tested the board with both +15/0 V and +15/-3 V configuration and ringing is observed in both cases. I have attached the gate waveforms for the low side FETs for both configuration. This gate ringing is then translated to the output voltage waveform with huge VDS voltage overshoots, sometimes double the DC bus. The DC bus voltage is 24 V, switching frequency of 100 kHz and the dead time inserted is 100 ns. We expect the Miller clamp to be working here but it seems it is unable to do it. We are unable to load the circuit because of this current issue. We would appreciate you quick response to solve this issue so that we could proceed for further testing phase.   Thanks

Hi,We are using STSPIN958 for BLDC control, and under 33V, 2A, when external force applies to servo, and the current goes up to about 2A, the chip burns before the thermal shut down kicks in.I would also like to know the value of "Tsd" delay timing parameter in thermal shutdown sequence: Figure 16 of page 21/34 of its datasheet. Dear ST Community and Experts, I am facing a persistent SPI error (SPIE bit set) issue with the VN9D5D20FN high-side driver and would appreciate your help in troubleshooting. 1. Problem Description: I am attempting to write to specific control registers via SPI, but the device frequently sets the SPI Error bit (SPIE), indicating a communication fault. The issue is particularly reproducible with certain registers and bit operations: When writing a '1' followed by a '0' to bit 2 of registers 0x01 and 0x02, the SPIE error occurs almost every time. Interestingly, similar write operations to registers 0x00 and 0x03do nottrigger this error. Write operations to register 0x13also occasionally cause the SPIE error. 2. My SPI Configuration: SPI Mode:0 (CPOL=0, CPHA=0). Clock Frequency:1 MHz. Data Order:MSB first. Data Frame:The communication is set for 24 clock pulses per transaction, as required by the VN9D5D20FN. 3. What I've Checked/Note: According to the datasheet, the SPIE

HI!   We have from time to time defect High Side Driver. Most of the defects occur after the first few power on cycles.  The High Side Driver and the RGND Resistor (120Ohm) gets really hot. The resistance between GND and the Status Pin is then much lower around 160Ohm to 2kOhm instead of 12kOhm.    Might it be a Problem when there is only the 24V Power Supply and the Status / IN Pin has no reference Voltage?  There are cases when the 5V comes later or not. Does this destroy the internal Logic Circuit?    Did somebody had some similar defects?   Any help is much appreciated. THX

Hello! I am building a 50-600Vin flyback converter using the altair04-900 to power an LED as a student project. Due to the very light load I expect it to work in Burst mode. Currently I am looking for an adequate transformer. On this regards my question; which switching frequency should I expect? The datasheet talks about 2-8kHz around burst mode threshhold. Does someone have any experiences with the operation of this IC in burst mode?

This is to turn on MOSFETs that operate above 5.2V supply of the Boost regulator.  I have followed a forward converter guidance roughly in one of the application notes, but I have not used a transformer but placed a high value resistor in the voltage doubler output.  How much can I reduce the resistor values R6 and R69 without disrupt the operating of the SPV1040?  Reducing them to 1 to 10K would be good.  The input is limited to 4.5V so that a diode is not required between LX and Vout.  The application is a generator start-up circuit for vintage/veteran car dynamo.An Engineers Perspective: Vintage and Veteran Car dynamo power management Thanks
