ST25 NFC/RFID tags and readers

During the first tests, using the suggested combo x-nucleo-nfc05a1 + NucleoL476RG, we noticed something strange: swiping an example NFC tag (see attachment) resulted in a failure, when it seemed to be a classic NTAG213.Digging into the code (X-CUBE-NFC5 library) we found that in the file ndef_t2t.c, line 360-364, if the TLV type field has Lock Control TLV or Memory Control TLV, any NDEF operation for the badge fails. Returning ERR_REQUEST(5).As you can see in the source code, it is explicitly stated that “ /* No support of Lock control or Memory control in this version */ ”.  Then, if we comment out that portion of the code, we can read and write the TAG without problems.Is this a known problem? It looks strange to us that the driver can’t handle this case, while other systems (e.g., ST25 mobile app) have no issues with the same NFC tag.  Maybe the X-CUBE-NFC5 library is not updated?Thank you for your support.Best regards,

Hello, The datasheet mentions how to use external load modification on the ST25R3916B but it doesn't clearly describe *when* to use it. Under which circumstances does it make sense to add the diodes and FET for external load modulation?Thanks,Derek

I am trying to interface ST25R3911B to an existing application that runs FreeRTOS. Is there any sample code available for ST25R3911B in a FreeRTOS setup?I added RFAL to my project, created platform.h, with a mutex for platformProtectST25R391xComm. I am trying to read a ISP-15693 tag. I am using rfalNfcvPollerCollisionResolution( RFAL_COMPLIANCE_MODE_NFC, 1, testNfcVdev, &testDevCnt) to get tag info. I am pretty sure I am messing up calling the ISR from the IRQ callback. What is the best way to service the interrupt in a FreeRTOS environment?

I'm using X-NULCEO-NFC08A1 with NUCLEO-L476RG and sw sdk X-CUBE-NFC6 (project X-CUBE-NFC6\Projects\NUCLEO-L476RG\Applications\NFC08A1_PollingTagDetect).I'm using an IPHONEX (ios16.5) with a custom app that writes nfc tag (but I've also tried the freeware version of app NFCTool available on the store).The ST25R3916B should act as CARD EMULATOR and READER (both modes...but I've problems in CARD EMUL. mode)Everything well, till when the data size written is lower than 90-100bytes...BUT when I try to write (from IPHONE to X-NUCLEO) a tag with bigger data size (for example 150bytes), it happens that last bytes (for example the bytes from 130 to 150) are written over the first bytes of the buffer.I've spent many days to reselve this issue without succes.  any hints ?  may I have the sw project NFC08A1_PollingTagDetect already configured to perform this task ?thanks

How to secure st25dv04k from data overwriting by an RF device?

Hi,So I'm using the ST25SDK to create an app. I managed to detect my USB Reader and detect tags from it. But I am wondering if there is a way to chose which reader to use if several are connected by USB.Also, I cannot find a way to connect to an ethernet reader. The demo app (ST25PC002) there seems to be that possibility, but only using a ST Reader, not Feig (the only readers I have underhand are Feig MR101 USB and ethernet). And it seems to use a JNI interface and a specific implementation of RFGenericReader that overload the connect method to add the IP as a parameter. I cannot find any reference to that overloaded method in the SDK javadoc. Does the SDK handle ethernet reader easily ? for either ST or Feig readers ?Thank you for your help

I have cheacked different websites but couldn't find an example or document for ST25R3918. Where can i find some documentations/examples for ST25R3918? Dear sirIt is being developed on the ST25ru3993 board. The external PA is not working, so I checked the power and it is 0V. The documentation says it should be 4.1V, but I want to know if I can make it work again.Also, I want to know why the expansion PA is not powered.​If I configure another external PA circuit and use it, I wonder if I can operate it with that board.​If this is possible, I would like a circuit recommendation.​Thank you, sir

The datasheets front page mentions "Reader/Writer" as operating mode, but later only mentions " NFC-A / ISO14443A reader mode". Could you confirm that ISO14443A writing is supported?

The library i'm using has simple read and write operations and i'm struggling to comprehend how the device function code works. I am simply trying to read the IC ref register. To do so,I use the device select code '0xAF - 1010 1111b - System memory reading". The start condition is included in the write operations.Question 1:I would need to send the device select code(in a buffer) to my i2c device. What address am I sending it to?Question 2The next step is to read the IC ref register (0x17). My understanding is that the address i'm reading is 0x17.So far I cant send the device select code to my device and I can't understand why.Please assist if possible.Kind regards,Hassan

Hello, I have a system working that is multiplexing one ST25R3916B to sixteen antennas using relays, but we'd like to replace the relays with something quieter. Looking at either using FETs or an RF switch. However, in order to select the right solution I need to know the maximum voltage. What is the maximum voltage at the antenna? I've copied the X-NUCLEO-NFC08A1 design. Is the signal always positive to ground? (e.g. could I use a PFET?)Also, have you gotten this to work with either a FET or silicon antenna switch? If so what part number worked for you?Thanks,Derek

Hi. I am using the st25r3916b to emulate an nfca card. This working most of the time, different readers are able to read the emulated card and the exchange behaves as expected.Sometimes the reader device sends the SLP_REQ command but I am not sure how to handle this. I try calling rfalListenSleepStart in response, but that returns a LINK_LOSS error. Not sure if I am doing something wrong.

ST25R3911B-DISCO is not suitable for its GUI. Use the HAL library to write programs to read ST25. Is there a related program?

I am trying to use the st25r3916b in listen mode to act as an NFCA card.After successful calls to rfalNfcInitialize() and rfalListenStart(RFAL_LM_MASK_NFCA, ...) I am entering into a loop and calling rfalWorker(). In the same loop I call rfalListenGetState to try and see if any data comes back from the reader, which never does.After debugging this some, I can see that inside rfalRunListenModeWorker (called from rfalWorker) always goes through the following state change:RFAL_LM_STATE_POWER_OFF -> RFAL_LM_STATE_IDLE -> RFAL_LM_STATE_POWER_OFFThis seems to be happening because ST25R3916_IRQ_MASK_EOF is set on the st25r3916b's register. This feels strange because ST25R3916_IRQ_MASK_EON is also set, which is required for it to leave the idle state in the first place.I feel like the chip is not configured properly, but I have no idea why.Notes about setup:X-NUCLEO-NFC08A1 dev board connected to NUCEL F401RE dev board.I have successfully tested the setup in polling mode and can read car
