STM32 MCUs

Hello,I'm using the STM32N657 on a new project, and its not clear how users are supposed to setup GPIOs that are used in different domains (FSBL, Application, ExtMemLoader).  For example I am using pin PN12 as a LED output and defined it in FSBL.  Why doesn't this definition carry over to the other domains, and how can I get CubeMX to carry it over to the other domains? thanksMatthew   

I've successfully set up a docker container building my project using the headless script. I've also successfully generated a Windows version of the compile_commands.json using the setting inside the properties menu. But I need a version of this that's from the linux build, because I want to lint inside the docker container for continuous integration. I've looked at what gets changed inside the .settings folder when that setting is changed in the normal non headless IDE ("generateCDB=true"), and I've tried simply building the code with that folder and the files in it in the same place in linux, but compile_commands.json is not generated.

I have a project where if I right click on the project in the project explorer, the IDE just hangs. I've tried opening the project in a different workspace, so it's not (I think) a workspace issue. Other workspaces/projects are just fine. Anyone experienced this? Know of a way to fix it? v1.16 on Mageia Linux, using KDE, not using Wayland. Thanks.  

Have successfully worked throughSTM32Cube_FW_U5_V1.8.0/Projects/B-U585I-IOT02A/Applications/SBSFU/readme.htmlI need to port this (..boot, ..loader, ..appli) to a custom board running STM32U585VIT6.Within the readme it states "This example has been tested with STMicroelectronics B-U585I-IOT02A board and can be easily tailored to any other supported device and development board."Is there an example / idiots guide to work through doing the above?Thanks 

Hello,I'm developing an application with OEMiRoT and trustzone for STM32H563.I'm getting a write protection error (WRPERR) when I try to erase a secure flash sector from secure code that is not protected neither by write protection or HDP. I'm using the method HAL_FLASHEx_Erase() and I mapped the region as readable and writable with the memory management tool of CubeMX.If I try to do the same process without the secure boot provisioning, everything works as expected. I would like to know if there are any additional operation in order to write/erase flash at runtime when secure boot is used.Any help is really appreciated!Thank you,Giulio

I am looking for information that compares the security in an STM32U5 or similar with the PUF-based solutions used in competitor's processors.  The problem is that "PUF" has a simple explanation that sounds good and a head-to-head analysis of the advantage of these other processors against what ST provides seems to be lacking in the market place.  Obviously, ST could have selected a PUF-based security and decided not to do so, so the clues might exist in why that decision was reached.  Note:  The primary focus is to find processors that prevent software pirates from extracting the firmware.  Any help that addresses this will no doubt be repaid in future design wins.

I have setup STM32 VSCode extension on my PC and it is amazing. The only problem that I have encountered is that it is not possible to run the code without debugging. I removed the "runToEntryPoint": "main" line in launch.json. But every time I launch the code it attaches a debugger. How can I simply run the code without debugging? Thank you,Damiano

After several days of wasted time trying to understand what was causing this issue, I finally realized that if I use the add_library() command in a CMake file, the build analyzer tool, without any reasonable explanation, searches for the *.map file with the wrong name. Hello,Does anyone know how to setup the clock source for the N657 processor?  I want to use an oscillator for the HS clock input and setup HSE = Bypass clock source...using Bypass clock it should only use PH0 (clock in) and free up the PH1 pin (clock out).  But it seems the IDE / cubeMx always wants to use both pins regardless of the clock configuration.am I missing something or is this a bug?thanks, Matt  

I'm still working my way around the DMA learning curve.  Having found the IOC approach to DMA configuration too confusing, I'm configuring the structs and calling the HAL_DMA_Init(...) method myself.Something I haven't been able to find clearly described is the "TransferAllocatedPort" field of the DMA_InitTypeDef struct.  I understand that it's there to specify source/destination port0/port1, but I don't understand the significance of that selection.One blog post I found seems to say that having two ports allows the DMA peripheral to assemble or disassemble transfers when source and destination have differing alignments.  Okay, I understand that explanation, but is that a correct explanation?If my source and destination have the same alignment, can (or should) I assign the same port to both?  Is there any advantage or disadvantage?  Since a "channel" is devoted to a particular path and direction, I wouldn't think the unused port would be useful for anything els

I'm working on a device that requires requires 12 audio output channels and 10 input channels. I wish to do this over 16-slot TDM. Now, I'm concerned about whether this can be done with 32 bits per sample. The reference manual states in section 54.4.6 Frame synchronization "The audio frame length can be configured to up to 256 bit clock cycles". 256/16=16. Does this mean I can only do 16-bit audio with 16-slot TDM? Or did I misread.

I've STM32G474 using the HRTIMER to control a boost converter, each channel has it's own converter. This all works nicely with the deadtime, no issues. When I come to do a pulse skip, (set CMP3 to 0) the deadtime is still being inserted in the the Tx2 output even though Tx1 output is not being pulsed! Is this normal or have I missed something? I've tried a few things to not make the deadtime happen, like disabling the set and reset sources... the only thing that fixes the problem is to also set the falling deadtime to 0 and then subsequently resetting it back to the required value. Tx2 has no set or reset sources configured.

However, I was not able to find this info in the RM or datasheet of the STM32G491 or anywhere else.

Hello,I’ve noticed a difference in behavior between STM32CubeMX configurations for STM32H7 and STM32N6 series.On STM32H7, when configuring CAN bit timing, the parameters such as Nominal Time Quantum, Nominal Time for one bit, and Nominal Baud Rate update dynamically based on the settings.On STM32N6 (using STM32CubeMX v6.16.0), these values remain constant. For example, even when using the official STM32 example with a nominal bit rate of 1 Mbit/s, CubeMX still shows a fixed value of 1000 bit/s and does not adjust the timing parameters.My question is:Is this a bug in STM32CubeMX v6.16.0 for STM32N6 series?Or is this a new feature specific to STM32N6 where the tool no longer recalculates these values?I’d appreciate clarification from ST or anyone who has encountered the same behavior.Thanks in advance!

Hi,   I'm a beginner programming a NUCLEO-N657X0-Q. The LD5 is blinking and I can't get a connection to the board. Even with the demonstration code/project, it wouldn't work. Hello, I am using a NUCLEO-H7A3ZI-Q to send and receive packets over serial. Hello,I’m trying to add the JPEG encoder to be able to save images in JPEG format to the SD card.While debugging with LEDs, I noticed that MX_JPEG_Init blocks the program, whereas HPDMA is working correctly.I have added all the necessary files for JPEG, but it doesn’t seem to activate.Interestingly, when I disable MX_JPEG_Init, I can see the images on the screen connected to the board without any issue.I’m wondering if there is a configuration problem with the JPEG or if I’m missing something.For reference, I’m using the STM32N6 Discovery Kit (STM32N6DK750).Thanks for any advice!

I have an ST32CubeMX project for a STM32H7 mcu generated with STCubeMX 6.4 and using STM32Cube FW_H7 V1.9.1 where the project files are generated via cmake. Now I want to use STM32Cube FW_H7 V1.12.1, but apparently, in order to be able to generate the new files, I have to migrate the project to STM32CubeMX 6.16.1:The problem is that, once I click in "Migrate", it removes two important lines from my code:So, I went to CubeMX to check, and apparently, at a first glance, the field to configure ADC3 Prescaler is gone ( I do not have any other ADC on):Also, the clock configuration tab was showing a problem. I went to check and apparently ADC clock is not allowed to be more than 100 MHz anymore:Unfortunately, I can not slow PLL2P down, since it is used for other peripherals (e.g. SPI), but I could maybe change the clock source to PER_CK and then derive it from HSI to have it as 25 MHz ( 150 MHz + Prescaler of 6 ), although I do not know which other implications it could have.I looked up some
