STM32 MCUs Boards and hardware tools

We are designing a board for internal product development and testing (not for sale) based on NUCLEO-U575ZI-Q (the Altium source). We aim to manufacture a handful of boards for internal use during development. We will re-use parts of the existing design, adding an FMC LPC and some other high speed logic (hence the FMC). On the NUCLEO-U575ZI-Q there is an ST-LINK V3 that we would like to use as is if possible.However, we realize there might be licensing issues. Can we do this from a legal point of view?Also, is there a way to boot strap the ST-LINK CPU so we can install/update required firmware so it can be used with STM32Cube?I'm aware we can use an STLINK-V3MODS in case this approach fails for any reason, but it really would make more sense to use the existing ST-LINK V3 from a practical point of view.

HiI have found that the STWINBX1 loses RTC at poweroff (or does CubeMX write code to reset RTC at poweron? there is a ticket on that) so that I have to battery-power it on, connect usb, update RTC and then disconnect while still on in order to log without "2001-01-01 00:01". Its LiPo battery is connected and above 90%Is there a remedy?

I'm currently working on my custom STM32F405RGT6. I've soldered the minimum systems (STM32F405RGT6 + Necesary Resistor n Capacitor + LED ). I've been able to program the MCU to blink the LED at first. So i start to adding other componentsI've been adding the MIC5504-3.3v LDO by alternatively change the components using AP2112-3.3V LDO. I've compared both datasheets and it should be working properly. Also, i've been soldered the LM7805 Ic too. After soldered that two ic's, i reprogram the STM32. The result is my led now can't working (blinking) anymore, but the STM32F405RGT6 seems had no problem (because it still managed to be debuged and programmed). What makes this happen ?

Hello,I am facing reset problem when I am waking up from Sleep mode. I am using WWDG in Software mode.APB1 Frequency as 40MHz. COnfiguration of WWDG:hwwdg.Instance = WWDG;hwwdg.Init.Prescaler = WWDG_PRESCALER_128;hwwdg.Init.Window = 127;hwwdg.Init.Counter = 127;hwwdg.Init.EWIMode = WWDG_EWI_DISABLE; I am calling MX_WWDG_Init function after initialization of peripherals and functionality needed.Then I am refreshing it in while loop of main function.1st Tested Scenario:While entering sleep mode I just refresh the WWDG. Then by waking up from sleep mode by push button, I am getting reset and it's started from main function again instead of Re-init function.2nd Tested Scenario:While entering in sleep mode, I am refreshing WWDG first, then disabling APB1 clock and after thatwhen I wake up from push button I am enabling the APB1 clock. Hi, I am following a video to write a bootloader that transfers the application code serially into the STM32F446 controller. The video originally presents the STM32F7xx series controller, but I am applying it to the F4xxx series. I have modified the code as needed, such as assigning the proper flash areas for the bootloader and application code. Hello, Can I output an adjustable voltage ranging from -10V to 10V using the h753zi development board? I found something like a "PWM to 0-5V/10V DAC Module."Would I need to use such an external module or build an additional circuit externally to achieve this? I would appreciate your advice and look forward to your response. Thank you!

Hello everyone, I’m currently working on a project involving the STM32F446RE as the main microcontroller. It’s my first time using Altium Designer, and I’ve been searching for the footprints and schematic symbols for the components I need. While I’ve found a symbol for the STM32F446RE, it only includes the GPIO pins and doesn’t seem to include the necessary power supply connections (VDD, VSS, VDDA, VSSA, etc.). I’ve also looked for libraries on SnapEDA and UltraLibrarian, but none of the available symbols include the power connections. I’m having trouble understanding how to correctly configure the power pins for the STM32F446RE in my Altium schematic. I’ve attached the official reference schematic I found on the STMicroelectronics website, which might be helpful for others as well. Completed the STM CAN 2 Node tutorial and created the set up successfully. Have Spark Max and NEO motors in robot with RoboRio . However would like to do a breadboard set up less another Rio ( expensive ) . Just to function a 2 Node CAN ( micro & motors ) - Are my STM 32F446 or H745 controllers compatible . Can I dev a set up with either as a master.Has this been done ?  Any resources or guidelines available for hardware and software? 

Hello, The documentation and flyers of the STLINK-V3MODS specify that the product includes an USB to UART bridge. My custom board with the V3MODS works for JTAG/SWD, I2C and Virtual UART. However, the documentation and sample code does not contain an API for the UART. Is such feature planned for the future  ?In the mean time the manual states that CAN has not been tested with real CAN bus. has this already been done ? 

Silly question but eyesight gets worse with age.How do I attach the LiPo battery? I do see the polarity but I just can't discern whether I shall slide the contact in from the side, or press down from above. And how do I pull it apart afterwards? Better ask than doing something ***.

Hello everyone,I've been struggling a lot recently trying to make this code work.This project uses a STM32F746G DISCOVERY microcontroller.I tried to make a simple project, heavily inspired by the BSP driver example, with the objective of recording through the boards integrated microphones, and playing it back after.This code's function were taken from the STM32F746G DISCOVERY BSP examples, particularly the "audio_play.c" and "audio_rec.c" files.The code is supposed to work as follows : Press the user button that generates an interruption to start recording. Using the integrated MEMS microphones (x2 MP34DT01-M), we record the sound produced and store it in the SDRAM, to play it back once the audio blocks are filled. The audio is played back in a loop.Once the user button is pressed again, we come back into the default state, where we wait another button press to start recording again.The code can be compiled and flashed without any issues, but after recording, the playback is just loud

This is my first posting, new to the ST world. I have recently purchased and unboxed a winbx1a. Rigged up the winbx1a and the LEDs are blinking. I installed both ST BLE and ST BLE Classic apps from Appstore on my iphone. Both apps connect through BT (Classic is more stable regarding attaching/leaving) but none of them say there are any sensors!I have been able to update the FW from 1.4 to 2.0 in the WINBX using ST BLE app, so some things are working. But no onboard sensors reporting? The plastic box says there is to be a bunch of them on the winbx board?  Am I missing something? 

I expected to connect my PC to a nucleo STM32H743ZI2 board via a USB isolator (Linear technology) but failed. While, I can connect to the nucleo board directly without isolator and programme it. Beside, the PC can recognize the STLink from nucleo board correctly, which means the device can be found in the 'Device Manager'. Using zephyr openOCD for flashing the code but getting below error Error: libusb_open() failed with LIBUSB_ERROR_NOT_SUPPORTEDError: libusb_open() failed with LIBUSB_ERROR_NOT_SUPPORTEDError: read version failedin procedure 'init' I also tried with IAR IDE but not getting code flash and also debug default terminal is also hang after some time   ​ I'm wondering what's wrong, anyone can help? ​ Many thanks​

 Hello,I look for information, what is the best layout for the SMPS, which is included in the STM32H745. One of my problems is, for a proper design, you must consider to have small loops in the switching path.For my base layout, I used the same structure as it is used on the eval-kit. When I now look at the processor datasheet, I see no dedicated pins for ground, assigned to the SMPS. Where it is described to use the 3 ground pins (C16, T12, B6 on STM32H745XIH6) in this kind (Eval Kit MB1381)? These selected pins are on the opposite from the regulator. From EMC point of view, it is not really the best configuration. VSSSMPS(Pin-F2) is on the correct place, but the layout in the eval-kit is also not the best (with respect to emc) but with the three pins above, a proper groundplane underneath the processor is not possible.If someone has some documents , application notes or practical hints, I would be happy if you can share these information. Hi to everyone,I am an engineering student and I am doing a project using an STM32L476RG board with the Arduino IDE. My goal is to read four analog inputs from four vibration sensors attached on a surface and to detect the signals from an impact on the surface. Then i want to calculate the TDOA in order the estimate the impact position with a multilateration algorithm. To calculate the TDOA I need a very high clock frequency, this is why I am using a Nucleo-64 board rather than an Arduino UNO.I am encountering many difficulties in reading all the signals using the ADC of the Nucleo-64 board so that i can maximize the sample rate, as i have not a sufficient knowledge regarding these things. Could someone please help me?I also checked the library of STM32duino but i was not able to find anything that could solve my issue.Thank you

Hi all,I have a Nucelo-H7S3L8 board running the demo application. The project has 2 applications (boot, and application). The boot is supposed to jump to the application, which is located in the external MX25UM25645GXDI00 memory. However when debugging the boot application the BOOT_Application() function returns "BOOT_ERROR_MAPPEDMODEFAIL". Hi,I am working with some custom boards for H7 and U5-series.The board schematics for STM32H735IG-DK and STM32U5A9-DISC shows both boards are using the same OCTO SPI but only the H7-board is using series resistors of 33 ohms for the all the data lines. In order to minimize reflections and match the transmission’s 50 ohms impedance, I have understood it as series resistor values should be chosen as: R_value = 50 ohm -  MCU_impedance. In such case one would assume the H7-series has an output impedance of about 20 ohms and the U5-series about 0 ohms.Is this a correct assumption / best practice?Are series resistors needed/reccomended on a U5-design?Is output impedance documented somewhere? (could not find it in ref. manuals for memory bus)Thanks for any hints

Hello, I am following a few examples for bare metal firmware (without HAL or LL) to enable USART. I am using a NUCLEO-H745ZI-Q starting with an empty project. From the users manual I am gathering that the STLink MCU on the board provides a 25MHz (X1) clock (STLK_MCO) to (PH0-MCU/PH1-MCU) into the H745xx dual core MCU. I am focused on working only with the CM4 at the moment and ignoring the CM7. I have been pretty puzzled on setting the BRR register with the correct USARTDIV value which is making doubt my understanding of which clock is being supplied to the MCU by default? I am also assuming since there is a physical clock (default clock via hardware supplied) that I do not need to configure a clock? I was able to blink an LED via GPIO/PIN clock enables etc... without configuring like a SysTick or something like that.
