Hi there!​I was wondering, for a school project, if it is possible to disable te autocalibration on the VL53L5CX and if it would be possible to manually calibrate it?​Thanks! :fox_face:

The ULD driver VL53L7CX_ResultsData object type contains range data from the VL53L7CX.  Each member that holds data for multiple zones and targets is organized in an array.Items signal_per_spad, range_sigma_mm, distance_mm, reflectance & target_status contain one entry for each possible target for each 8x8 or 4x4 zone.  Additionally, members ambient_per_spad, nb_target_detected & nb_spads_enabled contain one entry for each zone.  Lastly, member motion is a 32 element array.  According to the user manual, this contains motion intensity for each zone.  Given that there are 64 possible zones, it is not clear why this array size is 32.I could not find any documentation that explicitly states how the data is organized in terms of interleaving and how that structure varies depending on the configured number of zones and number of targets per zone.Could someone provide documentation that defines formulas used for in

Hello There,I'm successfully able to run VL6180 with interrupt functionality. But have some functionality queries.The application is intended to generate interrupt when reading a distance below specific threshold. I found that we need to Clear Interrupt bits every time after interrupt is generated. Actually, I don't want to do that as per the application requirement. With that GPIO1 I would be driving external hardware (mosfet to be more precise) directly without involving MCU.So, how is it possible to make the sensor generating interrupts continuously without clearing interrupt bits?Regards,Keshav Aggarwal

I want to know whether the calculation of integration time using kcps and signal peak count is correct or not Signal = 3.83 kcps/spad (3.83*1000*211(SPAD ea ))/2099  =385    =>  1/385 = 2.6 ms Ambient & signal kcps, is the integration time the same?      

Hi everyone!I have a not conventional question to this device. INT pin is used in library to send interrupt to MCU. In my case i use just necessary part of library so the INT pin is not used at all.So now the question. Is it possible to use it now the way i want it to?  For example there is a register i can change so the state of INT pin will also change?  

Dear Sir, We are currently in the process of conducting crosstalk calibration using the VL53L1X ultra-lite driver, but unfortunately, the results we're obtaining are not as expected. Our approach involves utilizing an A4-sized gray chart board as the designated target. Presently, the xcd reading registers at approximately 840mm, with the chart positioned at a distance of 1000mm from the VL53L1X sensor. The corresponding signal strength is indicated as 11064. After implementing the calibration procedure through the VL53L1X_calibrateXtalk() function, we retrieve an xtalk value of 0x99C6. This value is subsequently applied in our crosstalk compensation calculations for ranging. Our observation involves ranging a stationary target. Curiously, despite maintaining the target's immobility, the resulting range status reads as 7. As an experiment, we moved the chart closer to the VL53L1X by 100mm. This adjustment led to a range status of 0 and a corresponding range distance of 2366mm. Notably,

Hi there, My team and I have noticed an irregularity in our VL6180X sensor data that we do not understand. Despite having a stationary target (~75mm away), the calculated range values from the VL6 appear to "wave" over time, and do not settle into a steady state (see screenshots). When running as expected, the sensor typically reads a consistent range value with a variance of +/-3.5mm between readings. Please note that we have eliminated all sources of cross talk as well and are conducting our experiments in a closed, dark tube that is not exposed to direct light. What could be the issue here? Is this normal behaviour for the sensor? Thank you in advance!

Hello,I'm working with VL53L4CD to have the distance between the board and some liquid. This distance could go from 20mm to 250mm. We want to protect the board with a glass and then do a calibration, first Offset then Crosstalk. Into the user manual, I found that I need to do the offset calibration on a 17% reflective target at 100 mm and the crosstalk calibration on 17% reflective target at maximum ranging distance without under-ranging. My questions are : - Do we really need a 17% reflective material as target ?- 100mm is mandatory for the offset calibration ?- As our system goes from 20 to 250mm, is it possible to perform the Crosstalk calibration or do we need to take the board outside of our machine to be at the right distance ?Thank you for your help,Kind regards,

I am presently in the process of evaluating the VL5315CX LiDAR sensor without a coverglass. However, I anticipate the need to incorporate a coverglass soon due to the dusty environment in which it will be deployed. My inquiry pertains to the sensor's performance when using the coverglass. Specifically, I would like to know if the VL5315CX, equipped with Xtalk calibration, can continue to accurately detect objects at close range (ranging from 2cm to 60cm) when the coverglass is in place. Additionally, I am curious about whether the VL5315CX still requires Xtalk calibration for distant objects (beyond 60cm) when the coverglass is utilized

by using the cover glass can the sensor still able detect close ranges (after calibration)

Hello,I'm using a VL53L1CB with X-CUBE-TOF1 but when i try to use the blocking one shot mode, i always get 0 target.If i use the blocking continuous mode, the first measure will always return 0 target and only the second measure will return a target.The workaround is not ideal because it use 3 times more energy than the failing one shot (~1.8mC vs ~0.6mC).Is there something special to do to make the one shot mode working correctly ?

I'd like to work with the raw histogram data from the VL53L8CH, which I don't believe the VL53L8CX has. Currently, I don't think that there's an evaluation board for the VL53L8CH, but it says it is "pin-to-pin" compatible with the VL53L8CX. Does this mean that I could remove the VL53L8CX from its evaluation board and drop in the VL53L8CH?As a side question, I know that the VL53L3CX is not supposed to have accessible raw histogram data, but does if you view the raw serial data after connecting to the evaluation GUI. Is this the same for the VL53L8CX? I was just discussing this with a professor who I believe was helped by @John E KVAM a while ago.Also, thank you all so much for your help! Forums like this make it so much easier for researchers to get new ideas developed.

I am trying to read the distance from VL53l0X IC, but could not read succefully. I need the simple sequence of I2c commands , so that i can read the range continuosly.

Hi there, I have recently met a problem in calibration of VL53L8CH/X. So I need to get its intrinsic matrix. Where can I find it?

I am using multiple VL53L5CX sensors to measure distances around a robot using the 4x4 resolution, target order closest and ranging in countinuous mode. When I'm measuring a distance close to the sensor ~500mm and then the object is suddenly removed so the distance becomes very far +3500mm, I get strange readings. The distance measured just freezes at the last measured distance, for example ~500mm and I get no weird target status exept for maybe a 10 in a few zones. Is there a way to detect this 'out of bounds' so I know to ignore the last reading and just set my measured distance to a certain out of bounds value?

Hi friends,  currently Iam working for the project (water level monitor with time of flight sensor).  For my application it should sense  around 4 meters.  I have selected the sensor (vl53l5cx) which is 2.7 meters sensing range which black reflective surface with 8*8, Is there any posibilities to do the same with 4*4 ?  If we do so what will be my range of the sensor while sensing water level.  2.  Can vl53l8cx is used to sense the water level.  Is it so what will be my range of the sensor when it has black reflective surface.  can anyone help to identify this issue

Hello,I am developing a system using VL53L1X.I have read UM2510 (A guide to using the VL53L1X ultra lite driver).This library implements the function called "StartTemperatureUpdate".The description for this function states, "This function performs the temperature calibration."The function declaration is written as:  VL53L1X_ERROR VL53L1X_StartTemperatureUpdate(uint16_t dev);  I'm curious as to why this function doesn't require the actual temperature as an input.The mechanism of temperature calibration, please let me know.It would be helpful if you could introduce related documents and URLs for reference.Best Regards. 

Hi, I'm testing some VL53L4CX for about 10 months with nrf52832 using I2C. It's used in very dark conditions and within 3m and I take 15 measures 24 times a day.Between periods of measures I completely power off the sensor with an LDO.It works fine for long period (1 month or more) and sometimes it starts a long period of consecutive bad measures.(15 measures with status <> 0). It can last more than one week and it comes back to normal for several weeks...I used the example of SimpleRanging code in app_tof.c only adapted for nrf52:- power on + I2C_Init + MX_TOF_Init + MX_TOF_Process + MX_TOF_DeInit + I2C_DeInit + power offMore than once, I just put the device in ambient light and it resumed the correct measurements...Questions:- How is it possible that it seems to stay in bad configuration despite of powering off the sensor?- Is it a way to reset to factory values when I have bad measurement?Thanks for your answers.  

Hello all,I need some help with a project I'm working on trying to help a disabled elderly family member. basically he have a 600L aquarium that stands on a cabinet, inside the cabinet are all of the aquarium support systems and one of them is small rectangular 10-15L that holds clean water with some nutrient/fertilizers mixed in ( can't remember exactly the name of this tank ) and every once in a while a small amount of water 100/300ml from this tank gets pumped up to the aquarium. its challenging for him to get up every time to check how full or empty the smaller tank is since he needs to squat/bend over to open the cabinet doors which he really having hard time to do. so I suggested that maybe I can help and put some kind of a sensor that will measure the water level ( in % ) in the tank and show it on a small tft display that I can mount on the outside of the cabinet door. that way he doesn't need to unnecessarily go to the cabinet and check, only when actually that tank reads low

Dear Sir,There is a question about argument  VL53L1X_CalibrateXtalk().For cross talk calibration, we will use  VL53L1X_CalibrateXtalk()  with argument of uint16_t TargetDistInMm,we should give Xtalk calibration distance to  the argument. But, we wonder  which value should be used for this argument? The one we obtained from VL53L1X_Getdistance(), or the actual distance measured with a ruler?best regardsDai Sai

Hello everyone,I am trying to read the distance data from a VL53L7CX ToF sensor with a Teensy 4.1 board. I am using the SATEL-VL53L7CX breakout board. The sensor is detected by the Teensy, however I when I try to check if the new data are ready to be read, it is never the case. I looked closely and found out that the I2C address detected by the Teensy (0x29) was different than the one used by the sensor (0x52, default address).
