STM32 MCUs Boards and hardware tools

 Hello ST Community,I’m encountering significant difficulties connecting to and debugging my STM32 microcontroller and would greatly appreciate your guidance.After erasing the full chip flash memory and uploading my code, the microcontroller initially worked as expected. However, after the first successful flash, I’ve been unable to reflash or debug the microcontroller. I am using the STM32L476RET6TR MCU. Please suggest SMD-type crystals for both HSC and LSC. 

Recently, I purchased an STM32F407G-DISC1 board. On the top left corner of the board, I noticed the label STM32F407G-DISC1, and at the same time, I observed MB997E printed on it. This raised a doubt because many boards are labeled as MB997D, while some are labeled as MB997E. This variation has left me confused. I referred to the STM32 F4xxx documentation for clarification, but since it was last updated in 2020, I could not find any definitive information to verify whether the board is original. I kindly request the community to help me determine whether this board is authentic and provide any additional insights or resources to verify its originality.

Can the ADC write to the buffer faster than the buffer values are sent to PC?- Single channel ADC using DMA, non-circular, EOC every conversion- ADC is in 12-bit resolution but as I understand it writes a full 16-bits each conversion - Buffer size 1000 values- Data rate from ADC 500MHz- using HAL_ADC_ConvCpltCallback to invoke CDC_transmit_fs() to send the 1000-value buffer over UART (virtual com) at default value (I think 12mbps, whatever the default is).The ADC to DMA is always running (does not stop for CPU due to using DMA) and I am getting weird values which makes me think the ADC to DMA values being written to the buffer are 'outrunning' the communication to PC and overwriting values mid-send, is that possible with the above setup?

Hi , I am trying to use the USART1 to talk to another device which is runnig UART and sending and receiving data. I am able to see that the data from USART1 Tx (STM32) is received on the other device but the data being sent from the other device is not updating my rxbuffer. In other words,my STM32 USART1 Rx is not working . I did a local loopback but I do not see it functioning either . I have uploaded my main.c here with the code I am running and you will see that the rx is based on the ISR and is using the callback function to print the data. I would need some guidance to understand if I am missing some config that this peripheral needs for Rx. Also , GPIO pins used are PB7 and PB14 . PB14 is working since I can see the data received on the other device (sent by STM32) but not PB7 which is the Rx here.  I have uploaded few files that may be of interest here to review .   

Hi, I am designing for first time an RF PCB whose primary function is to convert incoming CAN Data and sent it over 2.4GHz frequency using an nRF24L01+ transciever. I am also incorporating an USB-B Micro for programming. As both have a different Impedance matching requirement (RF-50 Ohms and USB differential = 90Ohm). My question is, How to define two different impedance configurations in pcb design, from the youtube tutorials over RF PCBs, most of them have incorporated only one kind of High speed differential pair communication going on and therefore no need for two different impedance matching config. I am using Altium Designer, so if anyone can guide me over how to do it, I would be extremely grateful.Thank You

So, I have designed a simple simulator tool for CAN protocol application. So, in that simulator I will be loading the csv file containing some data. This data I have to transmit to CAN bus. I have written a code for CAN transmission, but I am not able to write the UART code to receive the data through the simulator. I am using a FTDI for this so data will be sent through simulator to the controller (STM32F1) and simultaneously the data has to be sent to the CAN so data reception from UART and transmission to CAN should be simultaneous that is in run time 

My project works as FSBL. I can also generate it as an Appli project (using the linker script "STM32N657X0XQ_LRUN.ld" (as default selected)), similar code works with ST-LINK debugger.But how to generate a signed image and flash to external QSPI memory and let it boot from there?(nothing works).Steps I did:I have my FSBL working (loading via ST-LINK debugger and running works)I have my Appi project (just added the stuff I want to do, e.g. flashing an LED), compile cleanI can also load and run this project with ST-LINK debuggerI have signed both BIN files (via the command line tool)I erase external QSPI (via STM32CubeProgrammer) - ATT: it needs to enable the external flash loader (done)!I flash one or the other signed BIN file - I can flashBut nothing shows me that my FW is running (after changing the BOOT1 jumper).What is wrong?The README in Template tells me this:a)In order to make the program work, you must do the following : Set the boot mode in development mode (BOOT1 switch positi

I am not yet the full expert (I have not read all docs, just trying with a simple project).It looks like, what I have in mind is maybe not possible.Goal:I want to have all my code on external QSPI memory (because the chip does not have an internal code flash memory).The entire internal SRAM should be free to be used completely as data (not any code in internal SRAM).My impressions after first trials:I can load and debug code when generated as FSBL:The code is loaded via ST-LINK debugger to internal SRAM and I can step through the code - WORKSBut what happens I decide to place and KEEP the code on external QSPI?I cannot flash (with IDE, instead a need to sign the code and flash with STM32CubeProgrammer).Could I still "debug" my code, even it is stored (and executed) from external QSPI memory?The issue seems to be this:If I write project as FSBL (in order to be able to debug: code runs in internal SRAM) - I cannot make use of entire internal SRAM as data.OK: I can change my source code a

It looks like (based on PCB and schematics) - I cannot run the VDDIO (all IO pins) with 1V8.No option on this board to jumper IO voltage as 1V8 - why not?"rrrrrr": I was thinking to change all my projects to this great board (speed, memory size), e.g. to have an user QSPI interfaces - as 1V8...But this board does not support 1V8 (why not?). I would need level shifters again (which I tried to avoid due to performance reasons: board should run all IOs as 1V8!).A great MCU, a great NUCLEO board - but at the end: very complicated to make use of it (e.g. this missing 1V8 feature and the FW to flash/load and run from external QSPI flash drives me crazy right now (no idea how to bring my working FW into QSPI memory and let it boot and execute from there), FSBL works fine but how to boot from QSPI).It is like a completely new MCU for me (even I use STM32 MCU since years...).Did STM make it more complicated to migrate to their new products?BTW:Maybe, updating this board in field when delivered

I'm in trouble with the high err rate of ADC123_IN1 in "STM32 Nucleo-144 development board with STM32F756ZG MCU".I've purchased two of the same thing, and both of them have trouble in ADC123_IN1.I had tried 4 channels: ADC123_IN1, ADC123_IN4, ADC123_IN8, ADC123_IN2, but only ADC123_IN1 has high err rate.Could you tell me how to get ADC value accurately.I attached ADC measurement results just in case. Hi, I am trying to use a timer triggered ADC sampler with DMA and a complete conversion-triggered callback function. I followed this guide (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_K3GvQkyarg) while configuring my single pin (channel) input for ADC. Specifically,ADC Settings:ADC Regular Conversion Mode:DMA Settings:Timer Settings (this enables 10Hz timer with 138 MHz APB):Initialization Code: HAL_ADCEx_Calibration_Start(&hadc1, ADC_CALIB_OFFSET, ADC_SINGLE_ENDED); HAL_ADC_Start_DMA(&hadc1, (uint32_t *) adcData, 1); HAL_TIM_Base_Start(&htim8); However, HAL_ADC_ConvCpltCallback() was only triggered once, as shown by adding a breakpoint to the callback function. Hello,       I've a STM32F411 board. Unfortunately, I was distract when I plug the SWD with ST-LINK. I've invert the VCC and the ground (Not really a good idea to plug VCC and GND at each opposite of 4 pin connector). Now, It's seem not working.. I mean will not connect to the board. I am using the STM32H747-I Discovery Board. When I connect the CN2 power supply to the board, it turns on, and LED5 lights up green, indicating the board is powered. However, the LCD display does not turn on. I tried enabling the backlight by setting the BL_CTRL (PJ12) pin high, but it did not work.Previously, I raised this issue, and an ST employee provided debugging steps, as follows:Step 1: Check if the "+5V" power supply is provided correctly. Probe either C3 or C76 on the MB1248 board.Step 2: If step 1 confirms that 5V is provided well on the MB1248, check if the LCD board (MB1166) is receiving the 5V. Probe C3, C4, or C5 on the MB1166 board.Step 3: If step 2 confirms that 5V is supplied to the LCD board, check if the output voltage is correct. Probe C1 or C2 on the MB1166 board. You can also measure Vfb by probing R3 on the MB1166 board.The issue is that some of these capacitors and components are located underneath the display, making it difficult to probe them.Can you clarify:D

I am a beginner working on performing FFT with the INMP441 sensor using my STM32H747I Discovery board. Initially, I experimented with arm_math.h, I2S communication, button interrupts, and enabled SWD for debugging. However, after these changes, any code I load onto the chip no longer works.Even a simple LED blinking task fails, and the board doesn't detect errors, even when I intentionally write incorrect pin names. I tried erasing the full chip and creating a new workspace, but the board still doesn't respond.I feel like I need to reset everything to factory settings or find a way to troubleshoot this issue effectively. Below is the error log I received.Could someone please provide insights into how I can resolve this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

(otherwise need gerber out new boards !)I suspect that the  designer of the V3MOD intended the VUART port as a DCE for UUT that normally act like a DTE, while the UART port on the V3MOD acted like an DTE. if that so then that should be clearly documented , right now that isn't and thus causes my V3MOD board UART port not to work with a UUT (which is a DTE). without a firmware fix, My board need to be relayout. Would really like a confirmation as this same question also applies to the RTS/CTS pins are they configured as DCE or DTE ? Could ST please clarify the exact intent how these ports supposed to be used and are configured in  the firmware ?   

Hi everyone,I’ve noticed that many STM32 development boards include two microcontrollers: a main controller and an additional smaller-range controller. For example, I have the STM32L476 Evaluation Board, which features the STM32F103CBT6 as the secondary microcontroller.I’m curious about the purpose of this secondary microcontroller. Does it serve a specific function that cannot be achieved without it? Additionally, could the board still function effectively without this secondary controller?For reference, I’ve attached the schematic of the board to help clarify my question.Thanks in advance for your insights!

Hi, I am having STM32U575ZI-Q development board. I have implemented a firmware with FreeRTOS with low power support where the firmware goes to the low power mode and unless there is an external interrupt, it stays in a low power mode. Now, I want to measure the current ocnsumption when the MCU goes to the sleep mode (STOP2 mode specifically). Is there anyway I can measure the current from the STM32Cube IDE or any addtional board that can be interfaced with the development board?

Hi, I would like to evaluated ADC of STM32H745. I would like to have 12bit 5.12MHz dual ADC. According to my understanding, I need to use model STM32H745II in 176 pin UFBGA to obtain ADC performance. Is there any board like nucleo, which can be used for evaluation?

Hi,I'm relatively new to the whole MCU thing and bought a Nucleo-H755ZI-Q. So one of the first things I tried to do was to make the LED blink. That was no problem, I configured the PB0-Pin for LD1, made it a GPIO for the M7 chip and it blinks happily, what makes me happy. The problem is, that when I safe the .ioc-file, generate the code etc. then close everything and start the program and the project again, the changes I did in the .ioc-File are gone and its back to its default settings. The PB0 for example was red, something with reset-state, i make it to a GPIO-Output and the color changes to green, and the next time I reopen the project it's red again and not a GPIO anymore!I don't know how to solve this. Any help is appreciated.Have a lovely day

I have a NUCLEO -G071RB board with an X-NUCLEO-GFX01M2 display shield, and am trying to run the X-CUBE-DISPLAY demonstration software GFX01M2_HelloWorld.  I have imported the project to CubeIDE and built it OK, but when I try to run it I get an error "failed to erase memory" (details attached).  This happens with CubeIDE 1.15.1 and also with 1.17.0. Running the example GPIO_IOToggle on the G071RB board loads and runs OK, the problem is only with the GFX01M2 demonstrator.Am I missing something or am I looking at a board faulty out of the box?

Hi ST,Newbie question with regards to finding the right documentation.I went through previous threads trying to find an answer to this but I have not come across anything.I have an older iteration of the STM32F072B-DISCO board (as I've discovered!). I was able to use the STM32CubeF0 Samples/Demonstration/Example files that still expects L3GD20 and it worked out fine, however I realized the discrepancy in documentation because the WHO_AM_I identifier of the MEMS module was different on the board vs. the documentation of the datasheet.
