STM32 MCUs Boards and hardware tools

What should I do when stm32 applications do not see st-link and the message I always receive is: Failed to start GDB serverFailed to start GDB serverError in initializing ST-LINK device.Reason: (2) ST-LINK DLL error.No matter which stm32 board or cable I took result the same.

Sorry if formatting is trash this is the first post on the forum. Our lab group is trying to get I2C connectivity to a external chip using an I2C. The problem that we are having is getting the clock up and running. We downloaded both the L4 and F4 packages but it seems that some of the imported libraries are not working. The question that I am wondering is it possible that the packages are not compatible with the alternate versions of the board. This could be user error as this is our first experience with I2C if possible could someone direct me to a good source of using Nucleo Boards to get I2C up and running. What kind of throughput is achievable with USBX and CDC_ACM using the HS USB peripheral of the STM32U5A5ZJ?  Im guessing its no where near the 480 Mbps.  Any tips on getting this data out at the maximum rate and without dropping data?

I am finding the documentation quite confusing. I attempted to use STM32CubeIDE, but it resulted in various issues, possibly due to using Ubuntu.Could you help me set this up without using STM32CubeIDE or the HAL library? I have a distribution package for the STM32MP157F-DK2 and have patched the DTS file to enable SPI according to the STM32 wiki. Now, I need to add a custom application to my own created layer in the distribution package and write the driver. However, I am having trouble finding resources to accomplish this.  

im using th nucleo-f446re board, and the st-link isn't there. Am i missing some jumper connection?  

I'm using the nucleo-f446re board. I'm using the mcp2515, BTS7960, and nrf24l01 modules in this board, but I've been using the digital pins repeatedly due to my mistake. These boards and modules are intended to be used for data collection on the vehicle, but when applying external 5V power, I connected the jumper to the E5V position and used it well when uploading the code, I connected the jumper to the U5V. However, at some point, the code is not uploaded and errors are appearing.해당 보드를 STM32CubeProgrammer에 연결해봐도 연결이 되지 않습니다   

Hi,Anyone having problem connecting STLINK on NUCLEO-H503RB board?I have two boards not showing up in device manager (both W10 and W11 PCs). Tried different PCs, cables and result is the same: LD7 LED is not lit, LD1 red lit, green pulsing, LD3 not lit.If I reset STLINK via JP1 jumper, shows up in device manager as STLINK V3 and in DFU mode in CUBE Prog (v2.17.0). I can update their firmware but after update, they disappear again from device manager and CUBE Prog.I can access and program the target H503RB MCU with an external STLINK debugger.Jumers on boards are at default positions and I tried other options, too. Tried connecting both target MCU and STLINK USBC ports at the same time, no luck.Any pointers?Thanks,Tim

Hi We are trying to test USB Device - CDC standalone example with STM32H753i eval2 board. Our main.c code is enclosed herewith, Issue: if we call USBD_START() function in the main the LED Toggling code which is written below is not executing.In Debug mode the system hangs at HAL_GPIO_WritePin.If USBD_Start call is Commented, then Toggling of LED Observed in both run and debug modes.Clock Configuration can be verified with the code.Kindly share your suggestions.  

I have been trying to get the debug setup running in CubeIDE 1.16 according to : dm00629855 Getting started with projects based on dual-core STM32H7 microcontrollers in STM32CubeIDE - Application noteAnd I was able do see the debug break point holding in the main of M7. Then it ended no ware, so I did a retry of the launch group and then "I got No device found on target" from The ST-Link GDB link. Here I am stuck: Also tryed:Reset the ST-Link and the USB tree and the Port numbers of GDB - this did not help.Then also the Cube Programmer  not find the device but the ST-Link is there so what did the debug session do to the MCU to be undetectable ?!  So what could I have done wrong and what can I do to bootstrap ? please help

Hello everyone. I am currently learning by working on a project in which I have to establish a SPI communication between a Nucleo U575ZI-Q and a STEVAL-MKI168V1 (IIS2DH eval board). To set up the Nucleo board and its peripherals, I used the STM32CubeIDE interface. First, I set the HSE to crystal/ceramic Resonator (this will be the source of the SYSCLK through the PLLCLK). Using the APB3 Prescaler, I configured the APB3 peripheral clocks to 10 MHz (in the tests shown below, this was set to 5MHz using the AHB Prescaler). Then, in the SPI3 Clock MUX source selection, the PCLK3 is selected. The IIS2DH uses a High clock polarity and data is captured on the rising edge of the SCL.In the SPI3 tab, the mode was set to Full-Duplex Master. The data size is set to 8 bits and the first bit is the MSB. Hi, While working on Nucleo Board for STM32L433RCTxx, I have configured 9 ADC channels for taking voltage inputs of 1.6 to 3.0V from individual cells of the battery. I am able to get the readings but they are not consistent, a few channels are missed randomly every time I read them. I am not able to figure out what is the exact issue.I am using DMA for getting ADC data, and length is set to half word. The .ioc file built on STM32CubeMX version 6.12 is attached for your reference. Kindly suggest how I can solve this issue.

Hi! Im looking for a microcontroller with a lot of gpio. I have looked into NUCLEO-H755ZI-Q. As I understand it shall provide me with 144 gpio but im not sure if I need some header for this to happen? I have read about ST Zio and morpho connectivity but not sure what exactly that means? How can I access all gpio? What exactly do I need or do NUCLEO-H755ZI-Q provide all these outputs out of the box?   Are there any microcontroller with even more gpio?

Hello,I have an STLINK-V3MODS debugger, and I want to solder the 14-pin target JTAG socket. I see that there are messing components around when comparing the file "UM2502" page 13, Figure 7. MB1467 top layout to my real debugger. I see lots of missing components around. If there are some missing components that I need to populate, could you please provide me with the required components ? Thank you,BR, 

That is the ST-link V3 on NUCLEO-H755ZI board.The HSE MCO option is set to HSE/3, how to change it to HSE/5.Usually this is configurable in code, but this is ST-link firmware. If there is a way to change the division value, please some one let me know.

Hi,I'm powering my NUCLEO-G031K8 from external 5V (LD2 led is On as expected) but the MCU stays in reset state (Vnrst=1.32V). I've changed the NRST_MODE to 1 (Reset Input only) with no success. The embedded ST-LINK is driving the MCU reset but in this case is not powered (USB disconnected).How can I fix it?regards,gaston

Hello dear community,I've started using STM32H743VGT6 on a custom board I've made.I'm testing the hardware now and I quickly detected that the temperature is really high (approx. 70°c on the top of the chip package).I have another board, based on a STM32H743BIT6, quite similar, and the temperature of this one seems normal (approx. 40°C)dividing the H7 clock speed by 2 really helps to reduce the temperature, but my original clock config seems right (tested with cubeMX)It's not easy for me to measure the current drawn by the H7, as the 3V3 is used by many other devicesHave you ever experienced that kind of issue?Thanks a lot, have a nice day!Jean

I recently learned about Timers and I looked through the RM and DS of the MCU and I am trying to set up my TIM6 but it seems that I cannot even enable any Timer peripheral clocks in the RCC_APB1ENR register at all, I can write to bits 31-11 but bits 8-0 are stuck at zero and the bits 8-0 are the TIMx EN bits. I am lost and I couldn't find anything on google. I am fairly new to using microcontrollers and I know that the rule of thumb is that you must enable the peripheral clock before you can edit their registers, so this means enabling the TIM clock for the specific timer should be the first thing I do but it seems I can't even enable it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I create project with CubeMX, use Keil MDK IDE, CM7 core without user code , CM4 core has simple user code. Download code to both CM7 and CM4 then code runs correctly. Then switch to debug mode for CM4. Now, if i press Reset button on board or press Run/Stop icon on IDE then CPU runs normally, if i press Reset icon on IDE then if i press Run then will get error like this:Did I configure CubeMX wrong somewhere?

I just bought a NUCLEO-H7S3L8H kit. I have successfully tested a few demo programs, for example "\STM32Cube_FW_H7RS_V1.1.0\Projects\NUCLEO-H7S3L8\Examples_LL\USART\USART_Com_Rx_IT_Continuous_VCP_Init\MDK-AEx". Then I create a simple project with STM32CubeMX, configure GPIO to read button and then control LED, system clock is 600MHz. I used the Keil ARM compiler, compiled the program with no errors and no warnings, loaded the program successfully but when I pressed the button, LED did not light up as expected.I changed my code, debugged many times. I can get the right WHO_I_AM(0x70) from mpu6500 by i2c,but I cant read other register or write other register.I cant read the gyroscope/accelerometer . whats more  ,i changed some mpu6500,and it doesnt work.

I am working with a Nucleo-H745ZI-Q development board and want to put it to standby mode to measure current consumption. I have put the domain D1, D3 in M7 and then domain D2 in M4 in standby mode. I also use 1 user LED for each core, so that I can know if the core is in standby mode. The problem is that after both the cores go to standby mode, even then the current consumption is 60 mA. I don't think it should be this high.I am powering the board through a variable power supply and have kept the voltage at 3.3 V. The positive end is connected to CN8 pin7.I use HAL_PWREx_EnterSTANDBYMode(PWR_D1_DOMAIN) to enter in standby mode.Can someone help me out with this? Am I missing something?
