STM32 MCUs Boards and hardware tools

I am struggling with an intermittent boot issue with Nucleo STM32L432.   What happens: When the board boots up from VIN of 7V, sometimes (I would say 50% of the time) STM32 struggles to run the code, it's almost like it stuck during the boot up. When i power it up from USB to check what is the issue, problem goes away and board is running fine.  My application involves ~40 of these boards and i am seeing this issue in 5 boards and it happens 50% of the time in those 5 boards.    Only mods i have done to the nucleo board are -  1) I have taken a suggestion made in this post: Solved: STM32L432 Nucleo-32 External Power - STMicroelectronics Community i.e. to remove SB9 to be able to power it from VIN of 7V.  2) Connected a solder bridge at SB17 for HSC   Anyone faced this issue or any troubleshoot tips anyone can share. I'm using an STM32F469I-DISCO ($AU1) board that I've used for a few little projects and have come to try to prototype something using it's MEMS digital microphones (MP34DT01-M). In the documentation for the discovery board it lists the connections of these microphones to the DFSDM peripheral pins of the MCU, however looking in the datasheet of the F469 it doesn't list the DFSDM peripheral anywhere and on pages that discuss the DFSDM peripheral the F469 is not listed as an MCU with DFSDM compatibility. Furthermore, on the CubeMX example project for the F469I-DISCO the pins connected to the MEMS microphones are configured with the SAI peripheral.Is this a documentation issue for the discovery board or are there extra steps I need to take to use the DFSDM peripheral? Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Hello, after some time trying to debug the PA2 pin on my Nucleo H503 I realized, by looking at the board, that PA2 goes into SB7 and SB1. Reading the manual it seems like both SB1 and SB7 must be off for USB Device to work, however, this will disable PA2 and doesn't seem to be documented in the manual for the H503 board (while there are some explicit SB configs for PA2 on the H533 board). Am I missing something?

Hello, I have an STLINK-V3MINIE that I've connected to a B-WB1M-WPAN1 board with a 10 lead cable. I'm trying to flash firmware/my code onto the board, but am running into some errors.First, I tried uploading my code using STM32CubeIDE, but am hitting a "No ST-LINK detected! Please connect ST-LINK and restart the debug session". Sometimes there is also a GDB server error. Then, I tried connecting and flashing firmware using STM32CubeProgrammer. When I first refresh, the ST LINK is detected and I tried updating it through the "Firmware upgrade" button. In the STLinkUpgrade tool (v3.16.8), I get an "Upgrade canceled, corrupted firmware data", then "Upgrade successful" (sometimes I see "Failure exiting upgrade mode (Error 33)" instead of success). Hi everyone,I'm trying to interface a DVP camera (like OV5640) with the STM32F469I-DISC0 board using the DCMI peripheral in 8-bit parallel mode.What I have:- The camera is configured and outputs data correctly via I2C.- I'm using bare-metal code (no HAL or CubeMX), and SDRAM + USART debug are working.- DCMI pins are being mapped as per the STM32F469 reference manual.- I verified that I can access and remap the following DCMI pins:- D0 – available- D1 – available- D2 – available- D3 – available- D4 – not available(e.g., PE5)- D5 – available - D6 – available- D7 – available- HSYNC, VSYNC, PCLK – availableProblem:- DCMI_D4 is not brought out on any connector** on the DISC0 board. It's internally routed to LCD or unused.- I checked the board schematic and there’s no easy way to solder to it either.My questions:1. Can DCMI work with 7-bit data (skipping D4)? Embedded ST-Link via CN1 USB is working fine. I followed the direction as below when external ST-Link v2 was tried on STM32L552ZET6Q Nucleo-144. The error message "No Target" was displayed on STM32CubeIDE with external ST-Link. Could you provide me with any advice?    

Unable to run the program in the MCU. When I try to execute the program in my Nucleof401re board, The IDE says it is not able to detect the board. I'm literally struck here just to blink an led. I kindly appreciate any possible solutions. But do explain it in simple terms as I'm new to this kind of stuffs.  

The UCPD / CC circuit is one of the few that connect an MCU pin to the PCB connector. There does not appear to be any specific information on how to protect this pin. Thus, I assume the same rules as other pins apply. That means 5V  or even 3V being applied to this pin when the MCU is unpowered would be bad. Is there any recommended protection scheme against this? Is an inline resistor sufficient?

I installed stsw-link009 on my pc so I could use the STLinkv3. The PC did not see the STLink-v3. I then installed STM32Cubeprogrammer thinking that would fix the stlink driver issue but when I look under devices USB in the device manager I can not see the stlinkv3 anywhere and the STM32CubeProgrammer doesn't see it either. The same stlinkv3 works on other pcs. Since I can't see it on my pc I can't right click it to uninstall the driver so I am not sure what to do next.

Hi everyone, I'm designing a board with an STM32H7[STM32H757XI] and two MT48LC16M8A2P SDRAM chips to get 16MB (16-bit wide). I'd appreciate a schematic review before PCB fabrication. Hardware:- MCU: STM32H757XI- SDRAM: 2x Micron MT48LC16M8A2P (4Mx8, 4 banks)- Target speed: 100-110MHz Key Connections:- Data: Chip1 DQ[0:7] → FMC_D[0:7], Chip2 DQ[0:7] → FMC_D[8:15]- Address: A[0:11] from FMC to both chips in parallel- Control: CAS/RAS/WE/CKE/CS shared, separate DQM signals [DQM0 & DQM1]- Chip select: Both using same FMC_SDNE0 Specific concerns:1. i have been trying to find ways of converting my stm32f103 board to stlink for a personal project , i  have found out i need to flash the st link firmware onto this chip but i am not really able to understand how to flash this on the board , if someone has any way to do this it would a huge help , i cant really do anything else as i have already printed a pcb for this purpose so if any one has any way to flash the stlink firmware onto the f103 chip it would be huge help  ? the board is stm32f103CBT6 (64KB FLASH + 20KB RAM ) 

I am designing a 4 layer PCB which uses an STM32L433 and working on the layout for the LSE and HSE crystals.  I referred to the application note AN2867 for guidance, but I am confused by the isolated ground plane underneath the crystals as shown in Figure 14... https://www.st.com/resource/en/application_note/an2867-guidelines-for-oscillator-design-on-stm8afals-and-stm32-mcusmpus-stmicroelectronics.pdf   1. How is the isolated ground plane supposed to be connected to the ground net ? 2. I have been using PE micro Multilink FX for several years, but its Linux support is terrible. Is there a ST (or another) alternative with this functionality compatible with stm32CubeIDE? I just need to supply power (up to 100 mA at 3.3V) to my board for debugging. I don't need high tracing performance or anything like that. Thanks in advance,Gaston

Are the design files of this board available from ST website? I'd need to know where can I get 3.3V and tie it to pin1 (Target VCC) off CN14. Then I'll be able to power the target MCU through this connector. I am configuring the RTC and using the user button on NUCLEO-H563ZI, but it is not working as expected. When I check the configuration in .ioc, I see that yellow signal in the RTC section. I have checked it and do not understand what is happening.Could someone guide me about that warning and how it affects the operation of the RTC?Thank you in advance.

Hello,   hope everyone is well. I'm working on the software side for a micro mouse bot. We're planning on using the STM32G070RB for the microcontroller. For prototyping, I'm using the NUCLEO-G070RB. I separated the ST Link from the board, and wired the two together, as shown below (source and the schematic:( And here's the schematic below: When I flash a program (I use openOCD, but I've also tried STM32CubeIDE), it works until I unplug the ST-Link, then it doesn't seem to work until I plug it back in. Any advice? Am I missing an additional connection?  To clarify, the Arduino powers the Nucleo board.

Hey team,I am working on a project using the STM32F103CB MCU. The device operates from both USB and battery power. The battery configuration consists of four 1.5 V alkaline cells arranged as 2S2P, providing a nominal 3 V supply. USB power is provided at 5 V.When both power sources are connected simultaneously, the PCB is designed to prioritise USB power.   However, when the USB cable is unplugged while the battery remains connected, the MCU core resets and the LCD connected to the PCB hangs, resulting in no further operation.I am using the Arduino IDE for development. During debugging, I observed that the setup() function executes when the USB is unplugged, confirming that a reset occurs even though the battery supply is present. This indicates that the USB-to-battery transition is causing a reset condition rather than a seamless power handover.I monitored the MCU supply voltage (VDD) during the USB disconnect event.
