Hi there,There are a few projects where having a 16bit DAC instead of a 12bit DAC would be extremely useful.I am currently using the G4 series as analog synthesizer controllers and it would be fantastic to be able to use the 1MHz DAC as a 16bit audio output. I am using the 12bit DAC right now and it's actually surprisingly good when used carefully as an audio output, even when manually multiplexed externally. Having more precision here would be very useful.Are there any such plans?Thanks.

Hello,We are working on an induction heater design using an STM32G4 MCU, where we need to measure the coil current via the ADC. The system operates with a half-bridge switching frequency of 30kHz.At lower frequencies, the current waveform is triangular, while near the resonant frequency, it becomes sine-shaped.We attempted to calculate the RMS current by finding the peak from ADC readings and applying the formulabut it's not giving consistent results due to waveform shape variations as well as ADC sampling is synchronized with the PWM cycle, and  we're still facing inconsistencies in RMS measurement.Questions:What is the best method to accurately calculate RMS current from ADC samples for both triangular and sinusoidal waveforms?Any recommendations for ADC configuration or data processing techniques to improve measurement accuracy?Any guidance or code references would be greatly appreciated!Thank you.

I am writing a field oriented control library targeting the STM32F4xx and STM32G4xx series. In the program, I have to: 1) Read 2 sensors using I2C 2) UART serial communication with host PC to send real-time motor parameters or receive new commands 3) Read 4 ADC pins 4) CAN bus (yet to implement, can be omitted) As of now, I am using DMA for UART and ADC reads. The ADC read is configured in circlar mode with continuous DMA requests enabled. The I2C communication with sensors are just left in blocking mode for now, but I am trying to convert it to DMA or interrupt since it is quite slow. One issue I had a while back was the UART DMA transmit not working properly. Some UART transmits just simply wouldn't execute, and later I found out it was due to the circular ADC DMA conversions. Changing the priority of the UART to be higher than the ADC reads solved the problem, but I just want to ask, is there a preferred way of establishing all the

I'm running the ADC on STM32G071 and I am seeing double spikes when the ADC takes a reading. Any idea why there are two spikes? I expect to see just one. Below you see two spikes followed by another two spikes 1ms later. My software starts an ADC reading every 1ms. ADC frequency is 32MHz using synchronous clock mode divided by 2.The circuit being sampled is not connected to any other circuit that is sampled. Each pair of spikes is 12.5uS apart. There is no oversampling. Interestingly enough, when oversampling is active there will be negative spikes. So 4x oversampling results in 1 large positive spike, followed by 3 negative spikes, followed by an additional positive spike. The negative spikes are 15us apart. Which is interesting because that's about how far apart the two positive spikes will be if I don't have oversampling active. I'm using the DMA. 

i want to read every 10 seconds a few samples from a adc channel and let the dma bring the data to my variables.i have that working with 1 sample. the timer trigger the adc. adc trigger the dma channel and my HAL_ADC_ConvCpltCallback get called and the adc channel value is in the data variables. i can do this also with 2 channels. good.now i want read 2 or 4 samples from the adc channel. i can setup the timing there with the adc setup. thats ok.i want trigger the sampling every 10sek then read fast 2 or 4 samples. exact timing not relevant just fast.  but if i setup this  for 2 samples, the completion callback is now only called every 20 seks.  .. i think the adc does not trigger the dma 2x for the 2 samples , but only 1x and so the dma need 2 timer triggers until I have my 2 samples complete and so it takes 20secs instead of the 10sek.  please show a init of the adc so i can get 2 or

It's my first time on a project where I need to consider "high-speed" signals, I read up on it but I am not entirely sure if I even need impedance or length matching here.I want to add external SDRAM to my stm32H7A3ZI MCU running at up to 280MHz via the FMC, which from my understanding has a rise time of: 0.35/(ClockSpeed/2) so around 2.5ns. I understand that the trace length is important, so I am going to try keeping the SDRAM ~2cm away from the MCU.I would follow the following recommendations:- Use a 4 or 6 layer PCB where the trace of the FMC are on a layer right below or above a "pure" GND layer- Use consistent trace width- Trace spacing of at least 12mils- No 90° cornersDo I need to consider anything else while creating this?

Guys, I need help with ADC on STM32F407ZGTx. I have a project where I read 2 channels, ADC3_IN4 and ADC3_IN15. Since I need a function that has pin ADC3_IN15, I changed it to ADC3_IN8.The problem is that I don't know what it is about STM32F407ZGTx, at least mine, that makes a difference in the reading.On IN15, I had ranges from 54 to 920 in the final read value (this is the correct range).However, on IN8, reading the same voltage levels, it is reading from 64 to 706. In addition to giving me incorrect ranges (for example, in the middle of the reading, it should give me 313, but it is giving me 460, which is the value that I read with IN15 and which is correct).Are there any differences in the inputs? I've looked in several places, the STM32F407ZGTx manual, AN's, etc., and nothing, no one says anything. I tried DMA, nothing either. If I go back to IN15, the reading becomes constant and correct again.Attached is an image of the configuration on the S

Hello,I am working with the STM32L432KCU6 microcontroller and noticed that it includes a 32.768 kHz crystal. I would like to confirm whether there is a separate crystal for high-speed operation or if an external high-speed crystal needs to be added. Could someone clarify this for me? Dear fellows,I've been trying to use OCTOSPI just as serial-to-parallel I/F which is protocol-free, continously working...I'm not intending to interface with any existing serial-memory devices. That's why I noted "protocol-free".Intending just have an interval-time-stable output pins...I suppose to make OCTOSPI protocol-free, AMODE, IMODE, ABMODE are to be set 0 and DMODE to be set for the number of pins to be employed, 0b001 for single pin, 0b011 for quad pins etc...And additionally, I'm supposing only the following parameter settings are importantly required: indirect-write mode, DR=0xFFFFFFFF(a maximum), DEVSIZE=0x1F(maximum) .Most of all others can be left as initial reset values, zero, I suppose. When I make a write access to DR register the data should go out on the pins .... I've done and gotten success on the similar setting on STM32L4xx(not L4+)'s OSPI.So, I guess also on STM32H5xx's

Hi,Im currently working on a project with an STM32L452 that uses a Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillator (TCXO) as the Low-Speed External (LSE) clock source. The TCXO is responsible for clocking the RTC. To fully calibrate the TCXO, I have designed the hardware in such a way that I can fine-tune the input capacitance of the oscillation signal line using a trimmer capacitor.In order to adjust the trimmer capacitor properly, I need to measure the period duration of the signal. My plan is to use a frequency counter for this measurement. Specifically, I would like to connect the frequency counter to pin PB2, which can be configured as RTC_OUT. Hi,We design a custom board with STM32L081KZ microcontroller. In this board we add an inclinometer that comunicate with the microcontroller by using SPI. In the firmware project we use this library: GitHub - ohilab/libohiboard: OHIBoard library. We use the SPI with SS managed by software and without interrupts.The problem is: after a long time that the board acquire data (30 days more or less) from the inclinometer the SPI seems blocked and all the read value is 0x00 or 0xFF. The microcontroller continue to works because it replay by UART commands (modbus by RS485). We can not sniff the SPI message because the device is not accessible (it is covered by resine) and we don't have any idea about what's happen.The strange behaviour is in the boards chain, all the boards lock at the same time (the difference in time is some minutes).Has anyone

Hi, I try to update the firmware of an STM32L431 with another microcontroller. I use a UART interface to do that. As described in AN3155 §1, I send the 0x7F after managing the Boot0 and reset pins, and I wait for the 0x79 (Ack). But the STM32 answer: 0x28 0x40 0x00 0x01 0x00 0x14 0x74 0x29. My questions are: 1- Why is this bytes sequence and not the 0x79 as defined in AN3155? 2- Why does it answer without even parity as defined in AN3155? 3- I do not find the real timing sequence for managing the Boot0 pin, but after several tries, the STM32 answers only if I set to 0 the Boot0 pin and after sents the 0x7F. Is it the right sequence? 4- Is even parity mandatory for all commands or not? 5- In AN2606 page 337, USART3 connectes to PC11 and PC10, but we use the LQFP48 package and those pin are not available.
