STM32 MCUs Products

Can someone please help with how to calculate the series current limiting resistors to be connected from STM32H7 or any MCU to transceivers or any other interfaces? Is there a general thumb rule followed? Also how to calculate the wattage of resistors in these cases? For UART, CAN, SPI, etc.

stm32f429 ran in PCLK2 with 160MHz, and TIM8 prescaler division set to 0, auto reload set to 1.set up interrupt enable.in TIM8 update interrupt handler, just toggle PD4 pin out.when use oscilloscope to check the wave of PD4, just get around 2.3MHz. Can TIM8 generate 10MHz PWM with PD4 ?

According to RM0456, p. 3459So in addition to CCx pins also PB5 and PB14 (DBCCx) cannot be used. The above does not make much sense to me. I imagine (only imagine) that internally DBCC support is implemented like shown below and for "dead battery" to work DBCC pins have to be connected with respective CC pins. That makes sense. But why DBCC pins have to tied to ground when "dead battery" support is NOT required? I see no explanation for that.Is the documentation correct with that respect? Hi,I am trying to use CC1 and CC3 inputs on TIM2 of STM32H7A3 to do some time-critial tasks (very ns fast time-stamping). I need to identify which CCxIF tiggered. Using STMCUBEIDE the skeleton interupt code worked fine in debug mode without the lines comented with //WAIT. The countersTrigger_events_1 and Trigger_events_2 incremented as intended. In Run mode the code did not identify which flag inthe status register was set and did not count the interrupts. Adding the //WAIT lines waits (with a timeout) till one or both of the CCxIF flags in TIM2 status register is set. While this workaround works in the skeleton code, it will decrease time dependancy which is important for my application. In the reference manual it states:"If channel CC1 is configured as input: this bit is set when counter value has been capturedin TIMx_CCR1 register (an edge has been detected on IC1, as per the edge sensitivitydefined with the CC1P

I've compiled my first program and I can't find a way to upload to the board.When I plug the USB, the onboard LED is lit, but my PC does not detect anything - I don't hear any "plug" sound, and I can't find any device in Device Manager (recognized nor not recognized).I've tried different cables, different USB ports, and a different PC. Is the board damaged?The default program is fine, I can use user button to switch LEDs.This is my first STM32 :( 

hey, I'm developing a custom stm32f405rgt6 board. I'm using stlink for uploading code. I'm comparitively new to stm as i've only worked with blue pill. I get "Error: No STM32 target found! If your product embeds Debug Authentication, please perform a discovery using Debug Authentication" this issue whenever i try to connect with stlink. i was not able to connect even once. I'm attaching the schematics below. I'm getting please help me solve the issue.

Given their multiple competing product lines, I'm worried they'll discontinue the MKL03Z32VFK4 after its 2035-06 longevity date.I'm considering using the STM32L011F4U or STM32C011F6U instead of the MKL03Z32VFK4. Even though their availability is only guaranteed until 2034-01, I'd expect ST to extend their availability further than NXP. I just was wondering how you guys proceed to choose an external crystal, specifically what speed it should have...The clock management with its tons of PLLs and dividers seems to be able to scale up almost any source to a desired frequency.for the L4+ range that operate at 120MHz, it looks like that can be achieved from a 4MHz as easy as from a 48MHz crystal.So what are the benefits and caveats of using a faster/slower crystal?Or just stick with the 8MHZ of the Nucleo boards, which I think can be considered somewhat as a reference design?

In pins that share more than one GPIO, how do you set the GPIO to connect to the physical pin?For instance, for pins PA12/PA10 and PA11/PA9 one can remap them using SYSCFG_CFGR1 register. But is unclear for the rest of the pins. For example, TSSOP20 case pin #20 shares PB3/PB4/PB5/PB6 and #15 PB0/PB1/PB2/PA8.I'm not using Cube, but I tried it to see what it is generating. I think it is the Cube itself the one that limits what you can select. In bare metal applications, neither Datasheet nor Reference Manual mention anything about those GPIO.

I have an application which requires me to send unidirectional high-speed parallel data on preferably 2 (or 4) from several synchronous sources to an STM32. I'm thinking of using the U575, but that's not set in stone.My requirements do not seem to fit any of the canned peripherals, thought several come so very close:1. I'd like to use as few pins as possible (so using 8bit PSSI is out, and this would waste a lot of SRAM if DMA us used to store 2 bits per 8 bits of memory)2. The clock is generated externally to the STM32 (AFAICT, this rules out OctoSPI in dual mode, since it is designed to be a master, and seems tailored to memory access)3. I'd like the design to be minimal/simple (which means I'd like to avoid using one SPI periph per lane, and sharing the clock. Though this currently looks like the only workable way).4. I have design  pcb for Stm32H723VGT6 ( 100 pins  TQFP )  my job is read adc 12 bit and transfer over usb to PC  . i have set sysclk to 550 MHz and ADC clock to 64 MHz  so i got sample rate to 1.3 Msps but mcu are hot. So i have sysclk to 400 and ADC clock is 64 MHz  sample rate slow down to 1.0 Msps why slow down even though same adc clock 64 Mhz ?

I am working with STM32 U575/U5A5 and L4 series of STM32 controllers in low power mode. I have programmed the controller to wake for every 10s and blink LED. This issue what we observed is once  immediately flashing hex file to controller using STlink programmer, Controller is not entering in sleep mode LED will be keep on blinking. If I remove the power and connect it back, Controller is entering sleep mode and waking up for every 10s as expected.we have reseted the controller using Reset button, but still controller is not entering to sleep mode.The question here is why Controller requires  power on reset to enter power saving mode after flashing hex file to controller using STlink programmer? 

Good morning,In regards to the current limit placed on the PC13-PC15 pins of the STM32G431VBx3 that is used as the basis of the STSPIN32G4 (and whose datasheet is referred to multiple times in the STSPIN's), the '431 datasheet has the usual low-power domain caveat of "Since the switch only sinks a limited amount of current (3 mA) [...] These GPIOs must not be used as current sources (for instance to drive an LED)" (DS12589 Rev 6, pg. 60). The "Must Not" language seems rather definitive, and yet both of the demonstration boards go ahead and use at least one of the pins for an LED.The EVLSPIN32G4-ACT schematic (as partially shown below) uses PC13 and PC14 with LEDs. The EVSPIN32G4 board implements the same circuit on PC13 but not PC14.

I have a system of sensors connected to an STM32 chip, all working via I2C and 3.3V.I've created interface libraries for my sensors, specifically the temperature and accelerometer ones. Hi AllMaximum input voltage for this series of MCU per Table II of the datasheet is specified to be 4.0 VDC for all pins other than five-volt tolerant. Table 12 specifies the maximum injected current for all pins other than five-volt tolerant to be +/- 5 mA.Given the above specifications would it be permissible to exceed the maximum input voltage if the injected current is limited to lets say 0.1 mA by a resistor in series with the non five-volt tolerant I/O pin? Hi,I have two MCU communicating with each other via RS485. It's a very simple code one MCU send a data to other and the other is trying to receive this. With MCU2 code everything is fine. It sends data like it should be.Problem is with MCU1 code. When I delete #65 line in code (that one with HAL_UART_Transmit...) it works great. It receive data from MCU2 and starts engine and horn. But when I add this line it stop working. Hi All,I recently set up a USB CDC application for the first time, using a STM32G431 device.While writing the software (on both Host and Device), I had some problems. Firstwith achieving the expected throughput, then with corrupted (or so it seemed) data. If you have more information about the reason behinds low OUT throughput with libusbwhen there are no IN transfers pending, please let me know. hello, I have a display configured for FMC but I would like to add a framebuffer to the RAM memory, unfortunately the MCU memory is not enough (the display resolution is 480x800) so I have to add external RAM. My question is how to do it since I am already using FMC for the display. Can I connect RAM to the same pins?

Hi,     I am currently using STM32H5 series, to transmit the RTC register content to an escalator base board. I need to transmit these data in a parallel manner (i.e. MCU act as a slave and the base board act as a master). I studied that STM32H5 series has PSSI which involves a data bus (PSSI_D[15:0]), data enable (PSSI_DE) and ready bit (PSSI_RDY) and a clock (PSSI_PDCK). Where the signal comes from the base boards are address and data lines (PMD<7:0>), chip select (PMCSx), read (PMRD) and write signal (PMWR).

Hello guys! we generally configures UART in the cube mx and generating the codes, and after by calling Transmit and Recieve functions we are checking the outs on serial terminals.. if we dont get desired outputs then we are trying to dubbug and testing the hardware and observing the frames on CROs.For most of the software engineers operating CROs is a headache. thats why i was thinking to build Selt test code in that it should verify the UART initialization is configured properly or not as well as it should check the configured baudrate is generating correctly or not by getting feedback on some other GPIOs.

I have made my own PCB with STM32F427VIT6 for a project. But if I tried connecting with the cube IDE, I could not connect it through the Type C port, I could only connect it with STlink. Even my laptop doesn't detect the port. Can anyone help debug this issue? 

Hello, I have designed my PCB with stm32f427VIT6 and a 24Mhz crystal oscillator. I was trying to upload and test the normal blink code and it's not working. If I disable the external clock, the LED works and does not work with an external clock. I am completely new to STM, I did not know exactly whether I messed up with the design or could not configure the clock properly. I am attaching the schematics of my connection and a screenshot of the clock configuration that I have tried. Kindly help me :)
