Power management

Hello everybody,I'm using an L6981C50DR for supplying a small board with 5V. The schematics is attached and should be perfectly conform to what is described in the specification from https://www.st.com/resource/en/datasheet/l6981.pdf as "Figure 4. Basic application (fixed VOUT versions)" on page 3. I'm supplying 24V to it. Everything works well when I turn on and off the power via the switching power supply that provides these 24V. But when I reboot my board the "easy way" by pulling out and reconnecting the +24V wire, the L6981 dies immediately. After this, pin 4/Vout is permanently at GND letting me assume something has melted within the IC.When measuring the switching power supply with an oscilloscope, it provides a small peak in such a scenario but this peak does not go beyond of 28V - which is far below the 40V the L6981 should be able  to deal with.So...any ideas what the reason for this problem is and how to solve it?Thanks!

Hello everyone, I am currently working on a lifetime estimation for a SiC-based power converter design. I am specifically looking for Power Cycling Capability data for discrete SiC MOSFETs in TO-247 packages. While power modules (like HybridPACK or EasyPACK) usually have well-documented Nf curves in their application notes, finding similar "to-failure" data for discrete SiC components is proving to be difficult. I am looking for an analytical lifetime model for discrete SiC devices, ideally using the CIP2008 formula or a similar approach with clearly defined parameters. Any insights, documentation, or links to technical papers would be greatly appreciated, Best regards

Using the NVM configuration utility for the STEVAL-ISC004V1 seems to program fineHowever regardless of what I am writing the to the NVM, the source capabilities on the device dashboard never change and always show 3 PDOs for 5, 9, and 15 volts.   

Hi,I would like to use the evaluation board STEVAL-IME014V1B to drive piezoelectric transducers for medical applications. Does the evaluation module include a built-in H-bridge for direct drive of ultrasound transducers? May I directly connect the demo board to the transducers?Regards

We currently use the WLC38, but wish to use the WLC89. Our sales provided the full datasheet, and is ordering samples of the STWL89 for us. However, there are no more evaluation kits available.Can the eval board reference design files and/or gerber files be provided?I saw the Wireless Charging solution Wiki post but the WLC89 is not there.Thanks

 I have seen recommendation for by pass capacitor to be 10 times the boot strap capacitor for Mosfet driver IC's. When i verified the schematics of mb1419-g431cbu6-c01_schematic The Boostrap capacitance value is 1uF but the By pass capacitance value is 470nF between VCC and Gnd. Request to please clarify.

Original title: MOSI is not responding in SPI interface TI C2000 MCU & L9026 Edited for clarity. Hi All, We are having SPI interface between TI C2000 MCU (TMS320F28P659DK8-Q1) and High Side Driver(L9026) the Our Target Board. Here are some observations regarding SPI communication. MISO(L9026) is not responding, not giving  We are able to send data in L9026 & MISO is responding. Supply voltage of VDDIO=3.3V, VBATT=12V, IDLE (HIGH)=3.3V, IN0(HIGH)=IN1(HIGH)=3.3V,(All voltages are within the limit as per L9026 datasheet). I have attached the logs for that. We Sent in MOSI CFG_1: 0x8900 (put device in active mode, frame counter = 0). We sent in MOSI STA_1:0x4403 , but the response is 0x2201, not able to read device status register. We also checked in Idle mode too Supply voltage of VDDIO=3.3V, VBATT=12V, IDLE (HIGH)=3.3V, IN0(LOW)=IN1(LOW)=0V, in all the cases response not able to read device status register. I have attached the logs for that. &nbsp

Hello ST,Im using STNS01 as a power source in two of my different project prototypes. Unfortunately booth are facing the same problem. When the pcb was produced LDO/charger worked as intended. However after many battery and usb disconnection durring fw debugging, the problem suddenly appeared - LDO do have otput only when USB is connected. After USB disconnect LDO voltage falls to zero eventhrough 4.1V charged li battery  remains still connected. Voltages to identify the problem closer:1) connected the battery(AA sized lithium cell), usb cable and measure voltages(all are references against GND, not battery - terminal which is polyswitch protected):usb  connected- ntc:0.53V SD:0V IN:5.1V SYS:5.08V BAT:4.13V 2)then I disconnected USB but kept battery connectedusb disconnected batery backup- ntc:0.0V SD:0V IN:0V SYS:0V BAT:4.14V The schematic-power supply part is here: LDO is supplying just low power chips(mcu and sensors). Dear allI have built up the circuit of STEVAL-ISV019V1. I want to conserve power over one night in a supercap connected to VSTORE. With the 3V3 LDO enabled but no load present, the SPV1050 seems to draw about 7-8uA.Is it possible to bring it down to less than 1uA or do I need to disconnect the SPV1050?Kind regardsChristian

Hello,I created a custom board using the TCPP03-M20, based mostly on the NUCLEO H7S3 schematic.The only differences are:* My uC is using 1.8V, so the EN pin only gets 1.8V* VCC_VCONN is supplied with 5V instead of 3.3V* I use a single power path (using Schottky diodes according to the datasheet) When I measured the Vgs voltage supplied by the TCPP03 to the MOSFET, it is only 3V on my board compared to the 5V on the Nucleo board. According to the datasheet this voltage should always be between 4.5 and 5.5V, correct?Is there anything wrong with my schematic? I would like to get a Vgs of at least 4.5V, as the MOSFET I'm using is designed for that, not for 3V.

Hi all,I have a board designed using the STWLC38 as the Qi Rx. An ESP32 is the host controller using I2C to configure the STWLC38. The communication works OK and I can set and read various registers.I have two questions on this configuration:The STWLC38 datasheet lists the functions of all the various registers but doesn't list the addresses for many of them. Are these available elsewhere?The STWLC38 is powered from the Qi coil so that I can only read/write when I have a successful pairing. How can I save my custom parameters to RRAM using I2C?Thanks in advance.

Hi,I am looking to use the STM6710DWB6F as a quad-channel voltage supervisor, specifically for 3.3V, 5V, 6V and 12V rails.  The datasheet specifies V1IN = 5V, V2IN = 3.3V, V3IN = 1.8V, and V4IN = adjustable.  It seems obvious use V1IN and V2IN directly, while feeding either 6V or 12V through a voltage divider to provide 1.8V into V3IN.  However, I am uncertain how to use V4IN to monitor the remaining voltage.  The datasheet states a typical threshold voltage of 0.62V at this pin and to use a resistor divider to modify this value.  However, will this affect V1IN-V3IN?  Any help in understanding V4IN and the effects of setting threshold voltages would be greatly appreciated.Thanks,Brendon

From what I can read on this diode it is from ST for sure, and it says G beside the logo, the next line is BEX, and the last line is GP048.   Any help would be appreciated

Hi folks, hope you're doing well.Quick question — has anyone run into issues downloading firmware/tools where the file either fails to install, gets flagged, or seems incompatible with your board or IDE? Sometimes links open fine, but the package won’t run, or the device doesn’t detect it afterward. It makes you wonder if it's the source, the file format, or the dev setup itself.I saw a discussion mentioning capcapk.com in another thread about APK/tool downloads, and it got me thinking — how do you verify if a download is actually safe and usable before installing, especially when working with microcontroller toolchains?   Hi, I am trying to configure the L9026 through SPI communication, but I am confused about configuring the CFG_1 and CFG_2 registers.   In section 7.4.1 (PWM Generator), it is mentioned as CFG_1.PWM_DIV_GEN, but in the CFG_1 register there is no field named PWM_DIV_GEN. Instead, PWM_DIV_GEN is present in CFG_2. A similar issue exists with PWM_DIV_LED. Please find the attached screenshots from the datasheet. Please provide clarification on this. HI Sir, "Could you please check the following switching frequency waveform images? The setup is: 24V input, 12V output (max load ~1.8A), R-FSW = 68kΩ, inductor = 15μH, and COMP configured as 680Ω + 33nF (parallel with 1nF) — see the images below. This 12V output powers both a mini PC and a 200Hz PWM backlight circuit. Which value should we use for R15: 680Ω, 10kΩ, or another resistance?"
