STM32CubeIDE (MCUs)

 Hello,is there a way to configure the .launch file to download automatically the .elf file corresponding to the active build configuration (es. Debug or Release)?Or should I create two .launch files, one for Debug and on for Release?I tried to play with some of the build setting in the window below, without success (es. the Release .efw file is still downloaded, even if I have selected as active configuration, the Debug one).Thank you,Carlo

Beside enabled it in the Debugger tab:also called LL_DBGMCU_EnableTraceClock();but when calling ITM_SendChar(), the ITM->TCR is still 0.Do I miss anything else?  BTW, I am using the latest STM32CubeIDE 1.18. Thanks.

I'm trying to debug some embedded rust. I was using openocd (12) and gdb-multiarch. I currently using an stm32f3discovery. I've tried C with eclipse Embedded ARM and STM32CubeIDE and while STM32CubeIDE does work (validating my hardware) nothing else works reliably. I have tried using ST-LINK_gdbserver from the stm32cubeide installation with gdb-multiarch which give much the same results as openocd + gdbmultiarch. I have a project that ran without issue, with STM32CubeIDE 1.13.0. When I updated it to 1.17.0 I could no longer debug that same project. Hello everyone,I am currently working with the STM32F746 and have implemented a brightness controller. I can control the regulator via code (CubeIDE) and assign a value. However, I don't understand how to make the display actually adjust its brightness accordingly. I have already searched the internet but haven't found anything that helped me.Does anyone have experience with this or know which approach I should take? Do I need to control the backlight separately, and if so, how can I do this? Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone,I'm working with the LoRaWAN extension for STM32CubeIDE, specifically the LoRaWAN_End_Node project from STM32CubeExpansion_LRWAN_V2.1.0. I need to control some GPIO pins, setting them HIGH and LOW in specific situations. To do that, I want to initialize them to LOW and then toggle them as needed.The problem is that this project does not include a .ioc file, and I'm not sure how to add one to an existing project. If I create a new project from scratch, I do get the .ioc file and can configure the pins easily, but I don’t know how to generate or integrate it into this existing project.Does anyone know how to add a .ioc file to an STM32CubeIDE project that doesn’t have one? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!Thanks in advance!

Hello,  these errors keep happening more often as the project size grows.1- Does anyone know where this "Read me" file is? (location)2- Where is the .log file?3- Why are things so cryptic in CubeIDE?

Hello everyone,I have a serious question. I'm currently working on a project using the STM32H755ZI board. Even though I set the project language to C++ and rename main.c to main.cpp, whenever I make any changes in the .ioc file, STM32CubeIDE automatically regenerates a new main.c file.In other words, CubeIDE forces me to work in C.To get around this, I followed a pretty comprehensive tutorial on how to use C++ indirectly with STM32 and the HAL, which you can find here::link: https://barenakedembedded.com/how-to-use-cpp-with-stm32-hal/It's very helpful, but also a bit tedious.Now here's my doubt:I'm an undergraduate student, and I would really like to understand why STM boards (and even boards from other manufacturers) seem to push so hard for C instead of C++.Is there a technical or historical reason why C is still the standard in embedded systems, even for modern projects?Thanks in advance for any insights!

 Is there a way to have this breakpoint only enabled at the start of the debug session?So, when the code is first loaded, it will stop at main(); but then after subsequent resets I set my own breakpoint.It doesn't appear in the list of breakpoints, so I can't clear/disable it from there. 

Hello to everyoneI'm using the board NUCLEO-C071RB. I already done the firmware, and it seems work fine.Because now i must build my board i check again my project:I forgot to set PF0-PF1 (Osci IN OUT) and PC14-PC15(OSCX IN OUT). It would huge problem so why does the MCU work fine?

Hello,I want to use STM32CubeIDE with Ubuntu 24.04 (new LTS), but on this version we don't have libncurses5 but libncurses6. If we install STM32CubeIDE from .deb we have an error because libncurses5 is not installableIf we install STM32CubeIDE from general linux installer, we have no error as it doesn't check the dependency. The problem is, when I want to flash my device using STM32CubeIDE it force the use or arm-none-eabi-gdb provided by ST here: `/opt/st/stm32cubeide_1.15.1/plugins/com.st.stm32cube.ide.mcu.externaltools.gnu-tools-for-stm32.12.3.rel1.linux64_1.0.100.202403111256` so it fails because arm-none-eabi-gdb (from ST) require libncurses5 My question is simple:How to use arm-none-eabi-gdb provided by my computer instead of the version provided by ST .. ?

I am developing an SBSFU based project for the B-U585I-IOT02A discovery board. The SBSFU project contains various python scripts that are automatically run during the build process. How can I force STM32CubeIDE to use the Python version and packages in my virtual environment?

The CubeIDE linker doesn't seem to work properly... Any help would be greatly appreciated.  ST Employee help?????1- In the UserStartup.c, I call lv_init();2- After compiling, it says it cannot find lv_init()3- I see that the file lv_init.c file got compiled (lv_init() is defined in that file) - the object file was created lv_init.o4- It seems the linker cannot find that file....Is there a limitation on the number of files the linker can handle?  

Hi, I am trying to define include paths for an STM32CubeIDE project (IDE version 1.18 )This project acts as a template and needs to be copied and renamed occasionally with minimal need for reconfiguration within project settings. It also needs to be able to cloned to different computers via git without include paths breaking.I tried to set this up via workspace paths, which appear like they should work, but then I get a bunch of errors for includes not being found. The folder I am trying to make these include paths for is a linked source code folder that is shared between all the projects and lives in the parent directory folder for all source code.Defining workspace paths worked on the old version of the project that was created using a different version of the IDE (1.13 I think).  How do I define these workspace paths properly. It seems like this should just be working as is but whatever link exists between these settings and the compiler is being difficult. &nbsp

I upgraded STM32CubeIDE under macOS 11.7.10 (cannot run any higher version since my hardware is MacbookPro mid 2014).My windows all had dark background und STM32CubeIDE 1.14.0. Now my windows (main.c, all source files) have a yellowish white background. How can I revert to the dark background?EDIT: I was able to find the location in preferences. (right click  in the editor window of e.g. main.c) In the bottom of the popup menu ->preferences->Editors->Text Editors: The screen shot already shows the corrected color.

Essentially, I want the board to operate in USB device mode, emulating a network interface via protocols like RNDIS or CDC ECM. This would allow the board to connect to a host as a network adapter, potentially reducing hardware complexity while maintaining network functionality. I'm looking for guidance on configuring USB in STM32CubeIDE for this purpose, adapting any necessary middleware or low-level drivers, and integrating the TCP/IP stack to support USB networking. Has anyone tackled a similar project or have insights, resources, or example projects that could point me in the right direction? Any help is much appreciated!

I was using STM32CubeIDE version 1.16. It was crashing occasionally. Then I wanted to update to version 1.18. It started to crash constantly while updating. Then I cleaned the program with all its extensions and reinstalled the new version(1.18). But the problem was not solved and it keeps crashing.I checked the form and your answers. I couldn't find any solution for this.Below is a screenshot of the errors I receive.
