I am using the STSW-IMG501 software with the STEVAL-EVK-U0I1 evaluation kit and the STEVAL-56G3MAI1 evaluation board for the VD56G3 image sensor.  I am trying to capture videos of my target application at high frame rates to assess the sensor properties, but I am unable to get the STSW-IMG501 to capture at frame rates equivalent to what is programmed in the VD56G3 image sensor.A short description of applicable frame rate parameters:Line Length - 1236 (0x0300, 0xd4, 0x04)Pixel Clock - 160.8 MHzLine Time - 7.69 us (Line Length / Pixel Clock)Subsampling/Binning Factor - 1 (no subsampling or binning)Ystart - 442 (0x045a, 0xba, 0x01)Yend - 921 (0x045c, 0x99, 0x03)Frame Length Offset - 69Minimum Frame Length - 549 ((Yend - Ystart+1)/(subsampling factor) + frame length offset)Target Frame Rate - 200 HzProgrammed Frame Length - 650 (0x0458, 0x8a, 0x02)Target Frame Duration - 5 msTarget Exposure Duration - 3.5 msCoarse Exposure - 455 (0x044e, 0xc7, 0x01)In order to verify my configuration

Hey, I am a beginner in all of this and have been trying to change certain parameters for my VL53L8CX sensor such as sharpening percentage, or converting its standard mm data unit to feet or inches, and I really can not figure it out. I am guessing its inside of the vl53l8cx_api.c file but I cant figure out where to, i am assuming, call a function with the new numbers passed into it. I see the get and set functions for each parameter but I don't think you change it in there? Thanks for the help, I am sure its silly question.

Hello, I'm currently trying to use "STSW-IMG035 Turnkey gesture recognition solution based on VL53L5CX, VL53L7CX and VL53L8CX multizone Time-of-Flight ranging sensors" on my board. I have a NUCLEO-F401RE and XNUCLEO-53L8A1 expansion board. I'm very new at this and I want to be able to get Hand Posture VL53L8 sensor driver to be able to display some output (thumbs up or thumbs down) but I have no idea how to do that. Do I need to load any dataset before I can use it? Any form of help is appreciated. Thank you!

Looking for Sample code to measure the object moving direction and moving speed and size of object using VL53L8CX sensor

I am observing an unexpected reading issue. I am using Calibration and I use a physical distance to Calibrate.  However,  an object right in front of the sensor (1-20mm'ish away) reads a value of 0 (zero).  If I change the Calibration to physical distance + 20 (rough) I get a better measurement of the object when its in front -- I get in fact more of a measurement I would expect.  However,  I would need to calibrate at a distance greater than the physical distance -- which is not what I thought one is supposed to do? 

Hi there,We want to use the VL53L4CX ToF sensor and I want to build the out of tree kernel module for the STSW-IMG031 (here) via Yocto recipe. hello Team,                   I am using your sensor VL53L0X distance sensor in my project. I am using the VL53L5CX to measure the water level of a sewer tank. More info about geometry setup and environment further down or here.I need to range from 0.5 to 2 meters and am also dependent on further lateral measurements than just the center spads. Therefore I need the 8x8 pixel matrix.It looks like I do not get any signal (checked the kcps/spads signal strength) beyond roughly 0.7 meters. I was able to measure distances beyond 2 meters at home, pointing the sensor to a white wall.I therefore was wondering if there are any settings in the sensor that I can use to increase the range? I do not need a high sensing frequency. I know its a demanding job to measure water levels. "I'm using the VL53L8CX sensor, the en.X-CUBE-TOF1 example, specifically from NUCLE -F401RE\Examples\53L8A1\53L8A1_SimpleRanging. The data reads correctly,and I have verified the outputs. However, when the INT pin goes low and triggers an interrupt, it takes about 16ms to read the data.I measured this time by toggling a GPIO pin before and after the read function. Even after adjusting various settings, the read time remains similar.I am using an I2C speed of 400kHz.Is this typical for the read operation? Hi, we are using the STEVAL-CAM-M0I board to evaluate the 55G0 protomodule.I have it connected to a raspberry pi CM4 IO breakout board, to the CAM1 CSI-2 interface.There is a provided driver, etc for this from ST, but it appears the pinout is not 1:1. But most of the documentation shows the eval board connecting directly to a raspberry pi. So I am wondering where does the issue lie here? Is the RST controlled by the GPIO, or am I missing something about the compatibility?It was attractive because we didn't need to make an interface board.I see the Reset pin and the Cam GPIO pins are swapped, along with the data lines. Hi!I have two short questions regarding the dynamic SPAD selection happening on the VL53L1 sensor discussed previously here:- Is there a minimum number of SPADs after the selection? As in, by utilizing a 4x4 region, should I expect no oscillations (the ones I showed on the other post) due to the selection?- Is there a direct way to find which specific SPADs are being used after the selection? So I could use it to troubleshoot if the weird distance measurements were caused by it or other factors I didn't take into account.Thanks in advance!

I have been using GetResult method of grabbing the sensor reading.  It returns this structure: typedef struct {uint8_t Status; /*!< ResultStatus */uint16_t Distance; /*!< ResultDistance */uint16_t Ambient; /*!< ResultAmbient */uint16_t SigPerSPAD;/*!< ResultSignalPerSPAD */uint16_t NumSPADs; /*!< ResultNumSPADs */} VL53L1X_Result_t; Using this approach I noticed something I might not have noticed otherwise.  The closer the object the smaller NumSPADs becomes.  For instance,  an object right up on the sensor which will read 0 mm appears to be using only 1 SPAD.  As I move the object further away NumSPADs increases.  I would like to know if this is expected behaviour? I use the ROI 4x4 at boot time and at Ranging time so until now I didn't expect the number of SPADs to be anything else other than 4x4(=16)? 

Hello.I’m utilizing the VL53L1 sensor to measure water level inside of a closed water bucket.While using a 30cm tall white bucket half full, with the VL53L1 positioned at the top aiming down at the air-water interface, the sensor sometimes outputs incorrect distance values for long periods of time. During one test run, the sensor spent almost half an hour outputting distance values oscillating within a 1,5cm range around the real distance value, later stabilizing on the correct distance value. This kind of issue has happened multiple times already on similar tests.Given the water level and surface is completely static, I was wondering whether there are any minimum range limitations, given I’m measuring distance to a liquid and also utilizing a small recipient. The only minimum distance information I was able to find on the sensor’s datasheet is its 4cm minimum guaranteed ranging system.Thanks in advance.

Hello,Basically i am trying to measure distance to a hand that moves above the sensor, returned distance is used to light leds approximately at hand height. My problem is that hand is probably to small object or its reflectivity is not enough that above 1 meter with VL53l1x and above 1,7m at best with VL53l3x the hand disappears and i am out of ideas how or if even is it possible to improve range so i can detect the hand over 2m distance.there will eventually be mirrors behind the hand, but at this point I don't think it will affect the results.Any ideas that can help me with this project??Best regards!

I'm a newbie to stm32 or actually to everything.I am using VL53L0X sensor and STM32F030C8T6 MCU in stm32idecube.What I want to do is to get a good reading of the sensor data.And I want to use a timer interrupt to read the sensor data every certain period and I don't want to read any weird sensor data.So I used someone's code to read the sensor data using the VL53L0X api to check the sensor data.But this code doesn't use timer interrupt, so I modified it to set a timer and use VL53L0X_PerformSingleRangingMeasurement function in HAL_TIM_PeriodElapsedCallback function to read sensor data.This modification didn't work, so I put the VL53L0X_PerformSingleRangingMeasurement function in a while() in the main function, and the sensor data was read in just fine.Why did I not get the sensor data when I used the function that reads the sensor data from the timer interrupt, but I got the sensor data in while()? Is it possible that this sensor should not be used with a timer?(For reference, I

In the 53L5A1 Board Support Package (BSP) for the VL53L5A1 Multi-Sensor Ranging module, setting the target order (e.g., VL53L5CX_TARGET_ORDER_STRONGEST or VL53L5CX_TARGET_ORDER_CLOSEST) doesn't seem to be directly exposed through the existing BSP functions.The vl53l5cx_set_target_order() function in the vl53l5cx_api.h (from the VL53L5CX API) uses a different configuration structure (VL53L5CX_Configuration) compared to the structure used in the 53L5A1 BSP.Is there any guidance, documentation, or example code available on how to create a wrapper function to bridge these APIs and control the target order and detection thresholds for each individual ToF sensor within the multi-sensor ranging module?

Dear all,I'm working on a product where we use 850 nm LEDs with a typical spectrum like shown below:Since we emit quite some light (10's of Watts in short, ms bursts) with our device in a narrow cone (about the same FOV as the ST sensors), I'm wondering if this could potentially cause interference when reading the distance values. I remember seeing some picture that showed the acceptance window of the incoming sensor but I can't find it any more. Thanks for your help in this, Best, Tom

I am trying to use VL53l8cx with STM32F407VGT6 to find depth . HelloI need to trigger an action whenever a small object (aprox 1 cm diameter) is at a fixed distance (around 10 cm) of the sensor.Using VL53L0X the readings I get are very much affected by the background, for example if the object is in range and the background (1 m behind) changes from dark to white, the reading  changes to indicates a much larger distance.What can be done to improve this behavior? Absolute accuracy is not important, but repeteability is.

 Hi Team, We are using the VL53L4CX in QCS8550 platform.Below are queries listed below for clarification. Query 1:Load Capacitance I'm using a same I2C for 5 sensors of VL53L4CX. Is that good to connect or any load capacitance issues will occur Need to understand the max load capacitance of the sensor Query 2: Slave Address configuration As per the User manual, we can able to modify the slave address by controlling the XSHUT pin low The slave address configuration is one time process or every power cycle i need to do address configuration? Query 3 : IO Voltage level From the datasheet, IO level is mentioned either 1V8 or 2V8 I'm using the VCC of the sensor is 2V8 and rest all IOs (SCL,SDA,XSHUT,GPIO) in 1V8 level Is there any issue in this. Kindly provide the insights at the earliest.ThanksManikandan R
