Power management

I have a custom board that uses the L6470 for driving step motors.  All motor functions are working fine.  Circuit attached. Picture attached.What I have noticed and concerns me is that in instances where the motors are off or not even connected the chip and my 440 uF caps on the VSA and VSB run at about 125F 52C.I have tried setting the bridges to HiZ with no effect.Why is this happening?What do I need to do to have the chip and caps run cool?Thanks for your help !!!

hello,I have STEVAL-DPS334C1 and STEVAL-DPSTPFC1. I am trying to put PFC code on STEVAL-DPS334C1 again. I load bin file via stm32programmer. then STEVAL-DPS334C1 crashes. I need source code to find where the error is coming from. Or if you have any suggestions, I would be glad.

Hello.When I measure between 5V_SCR1 and GND_SCR2 in STEVAL-DPSTPFC1 Hardware, I see 9V. And when I start via Switch, it goes into standby mode when the output is unloaded and reaches 300V. It never becomes 400V. I quickly turn the switch to the off position again. I quickly turn it back to the on position. This time, all the LEDs go off. Can you please tell the technical team where the error and problem may be?

We use the VNHD7008AY to control the motor of a cargo lift. The lift has an emergency switch, which disconnects the battery from the circuit.In case of an emergency cutout, the lift runs down while its motor generates a high voltage, which finally kills the VNHD7008AY.To solve that problem I want to analyse the generator voltage (Pin VCC) and shortcut the H-bridge in case the generated voltage exceeds a limit.This provides that the motor generated voltage passes the reverse battery protection transistor, so that it can supply the other parts of the circuit (microcontroller, etc).My question:If supply voltage comes from the motor side (Pin VCC) instead of battery side (Pin Vbatt), will the reverse battery protection transistor conduct so that voltage can pass from VCC pin to Vbatt pin?

The TS3330AMR has a voltage reference, but the internal configuration of the IC is unclear.Is a reverse bypass diode, like the reverse voltage protection of a linear regulator, unnecessary?

So it looks like there are 2.5W or 15W reference designs, does anyone have a 5W reference design? 

hello comunity,i want design a motor controller with the stspin32g4.i have a question about the build in buck converter:i want use the stspin32g4 just with a 4s battery ca 15V and a 2 wire control ifc (servo pwm + ground).I want the stspin32g4 generate the power Vdd and Scref for the internal gate drivers with the internal buck converter.some body told me I not need the diode D1 and also not need the inductor 18uH what we see in the datasheet. because the used Vcc = 15V is so low. is this true? or should I add the diode and 18uH inductor? similar what we see in datasheet Figure 9 : 3.3 V LDO regulator supplied through VCC maybe some body can explain it. or even can add a pdf or picture with the circuit for stspin32g4 power management.thank you Frank

Hello, I whant to build a 3 phase meter from the EVALSTPM-3PHISO. The Data that is computed should be send to a display interfacing with an lcd1602 (HD44780). Later a graphical display will be used. But to get a product that is working we have to handle the firmware package that is downloadable for the evaluation board. We are looking for a description to the STSW-STPM004 Firmware. We have to implement functions like energy counting and tracking, saving data to a file during one day of measuring.We know that the firmware is not using the internal DFSDM (sigma delta filter) because the STM32F413 only has 2 hardware implemented filters. So we would need a documentation how this emulation is done in the firmware to build this solution for our use cases (Initialisazion of the STM32 clock and data channels for the 3 sigma delta ICs). Thank you in advance,BR  

Does the VN5T016AH-E handle short circuits with extremely low inductance/resistance without damage to the device? The datasheet states that there is a 53us turn-off delay which would result in 4J of energy in the FET in the case of a dead short with no input or output inductance ((36V)^2/16mohm*53us), which seems like it would completely destroy the device. We have enough polymer caps on our boards that we could realistically put a few joules in to the FET, so we'd like to know if we need to add some inductance.

Imagine my susprise when i discovered ST actually offers a DAB "software" for their 25KW evaluation board using stm32G474RE. And i go to ST's website.And the only downloadables are binary files and a lazy one page .pdf Am i missign something here? where is the code? 

I believe the VCX comparator is designed to clamp the maximum primary current, but there is no equation in Figure 7 of the datasheet to describe the relationship between IFF, RFF, and line voltage. Without an equation for IFF, it is difficult to size the transformer.

Currently we use a PowerStep01 in StepClock configuration  the current controller (CM_VM Bit set). Number of Microsteps is set to 2. Hold current (TVAL_HOLD) is set to 3 Ampere based on a 0.1 Ohm shunt resistor. All other registers are left on their default values.All motors are supplied with 72V. With the following small motor the PowerStep01 is overheated immediately and triggers thermal shutdown. The motor itself is 100% ok, both phases are within spec. Motor parameters:Resistance/Phase: 2.1 OhmInductance/Phase: 2.5mHIf a bigger motor is used with the following parameter the PowerStep01 temperature does not increase significantly, touching with bare hands is no problem: Motor parameters:Resistance/Phase: 4.0 OhmInductance/Phase: 32mHSo I suspect the current chopper parameters are way off for the small inductance motor. Our requirement was to create a LED driver circuit to power 12 strings of 7 LEDs from a 12V DC supply with a nominal current of 20mA per string.Using the STEVAL-ILL035V1 Development board data for PCB layout guidance and the LED7708 design tool spreadsheet for component selection we successfully built a prototype driver PCB and produced firmware to setup the on-board registers and control the LEDs for our application.Initial results were good and all appeared to be working as expected until we noticed that after a random period (5 to 10 minutes) the LEDs would go off completely and wouldn't recover normal operation untill the device was disabled (DEVCFG0.DEN = 0) and then re-enabled.When the LEDs go off the boost converter goes into a skipping mode of operation but no errors are indicated either from the XFLT pin or the status registers.After disabling/enabling the device, the LEDs would come back on normally but would then go off again some time later. BMS63EN connection problemI connected AEK-COM-ISOSPI1 and BMS63EN through PinMap provided by SPC5.However, I found two problems.1. When the input voltage is 56V, when I measured the voltage of Cell0, the voltage was measured as 10V~12V, and the voltage of other cells was measured as 2V. I confirmed that the voltage of the cells was gradually decreasing.2. When I disconnected the ISOfrequency connection to AEK-COM-ISOSPI1, I confirmed that the voltage of Cell0 was measured as 4.2V, and the voltage of the remaining cells was 3.7V.(However, communication did not work.)There is also a problem in case 2. (When AEK-COM-ISOSPI1 and BMS63EN are separated, each cell voltage is measured as 4V.)How can I solve the problem?

Dear Madam/Sir,We are using powerStep01 and must implement motor "hardstop" purely in hardware (no software intervention).We consider these options:- using the external switch SW and bit SW-MODE = 0;- OR, with all voltages externally supplied, cut off VS (externally to the controller) while all the other voltages are still active (generated from another rail). Does this damage the controller? If not, does this continues to allow access to internal registers via SPI?- OR, with all voltages internally supplied, cut off VS externally to the controller.Please advise pros and cons of the above solutions.
