HiIn this EVAL-SCS001V1 BoardI want to connect this board to my STM32F767ZI, BUT Data lines D+/D- on Its USB-C Connector are not connected to any test point. Is there any workaround this? I can solder wires to for example A side of this connector(D+/D-) but then B side will be left unconnected. I can live with the fact that USB CABLE will work in only 1 orientation when inserted in USB-C Receptable but i am unsure of any other consequences that it will cause? Power delivery contracts/CC1/2, etc.. I know ST offers another Development board STEVAL-ISC005V1 where these signals are available but don't need so many Voltage Outputs and EVAL-SCS001V1 fits perfectly.

We are considering using ST TRISIL (TSS)  devices for crowbar protection . We have been using an alternative type of protection device from LITTELFUSE (SIDACTOR) in an application where we require the TSS to fail as a short circuit. In our application we require the TSS to be a single use device that fails to a very low impedance in a current limited circuit (~3A) . The LITTELFUSE devices have been tested extensively in our circuit and do fail safe to a very low impedance of ~0.1 ohms however some other brands (not ST) have a percentage that fail with impedance of say 5-7 ohms which is too high a resistance  with 3A flowing and this creates excessive power and fire risk. The ST data for the SMP100LC series of TSS device says that it will fail safe and our testing on 10pcs so far shows this to be correct. Can anyone confirm that the design of the TRISIL device will never fail in a higher impedance manner therefore minimizing fire risk?

Dear ST Technical Support,I would like to inquire about the short-circuit protection behavior of the VN7003ALH high-side switch.Application: Board with 6× VN7003ALH outputs.Configuration: 24V supply from 200Ah lead-acid battery. Output wiring: 1.5m of 12 AWG.Issue: With output ON, a hard short circuit was applied via 600A mechanical contactor. The VN7003ALH did not survive — the package cracked (photo attached).Question: Is this behavior expected? We assumed the integrated short-circuit protection would handle such transients. Are there specific source impedance or di/dt limitations we should be aware of that are not covered in the datasheet? Best regards,Artem           

  Hi,  I am currently reviewing the use of the STPM066S. According to the documentation, it seems that one-time programming is required before voltage output is enabled. As I understand it, once the OTP region is written, the change is irreversible. I have ordered the STPM066S evaluation board and some spare ICs. My First question is: after programming and testing the initial settings, if I want to change the settings and test again, do I need to replace the IC with a new one each time? Or is there any way to reprogram or modify the OTP settings after the initial programming?   Second question, There is a RSV TM bit in SPI MOSI data frame( DI[22] : Test Mode Flag). What is it? What can i test with this bit? Can i test OTP area with this bit?   Last question,  There is a section labeled "(programming)" under the OTP reg. Could you please clarify what this means?  

Hello, I'm currently designing a BDC-motor controller with the STSPIN840 and was wondering how low I can go with the current sensing resistors to minimize the losses across those resistors. Especially at higher currents in parallel mode the resistor losses would become quite large when staying in the region the eval-board is dimensioned. Is there a minimum sense voltage that I should stay above or is it going to be stable no matter how low I push it (assuming the reference voltage is reasonably stable)?Can I use like 50mOhms there? That would result in a reference voltage of 0.15V when using the 3A limit, so I could probably get away with a single 0.5W sense-resistor.

I purchased the EVALSTGAP2HS board for evaluating STGAP2HS gate drives. I'm disappointed in the available documentation for this board, but finally I deduced that the only correct way toconnect devices is as shown in the figure I'm a bit puzzled by the location for the designators, and what appears to represent the courtyard for the MOSFETs... For quick and dirty evaluation, is this how you would place the leads ?  Thanks :)

We are currently using the PM8805 in our PD (Powered Device) design.We have recently encountered field failures and suspect that the root cause lies in the customer's testing process.Our customer was using a Passive DC Injector (55V DC Supply) instead of a standard IEEE 802.3at/bt compliant PSE. During their inspection, they perform "Hot-plugging" of the 55V DC source directly into the RJ45 port.I’m assuming the PM8805 has to 'work through' the Active Bridge’s body diodes during the initial handshake (Detection/Class). Since the MOSFETs aren't active yet, all that signaling current must be passing through the parasitic diodes, correct?My concern is that when using a 55V direct injector, a massive amount of inrush current is forced through these body diodes before the voltage even reaches the UVLO threshold. Doesn't this put a lethal amount of stress on the bridge before the PM8805 can even start its control sequence?We performed a failure analysis on the damaged products and found the

Hi,We wish to do a Boost PFC with L4986A and a  30uH inductor.Power is 2200W and Mains is 85-265VAC.When the mains is at 240VAC,  the inductor current would be discontinuous for some 80% of the mains half cycle.Is this OK?Will the L4986A be able to control it  to give a good power Factor with low THD?

I am designing a 3-phase AC to 24 V DC power supply and plan to use the VIPER26K high-voltage converter (as used in the STEVAL-VP26K02F evaluation board) as the main switch-mode controller in a flyback/isolated design. We are students that are trying to make a multi frequency power system interconnection model with a dc link similar to real life back to back hvdc, and we need a converter that supports bidirectional power transfer, is it possible for STEVAL-IPM15B to act as an inverter, then switch to rectifier in case of need for reverse power flow? Making it bidirectional AC<->DC, transferring from AC to DC and vice versa

I have eval kit EVALSTPM33 from Digikey. When I plug it into my PC USB port, I see a red LED near the USB port, and in the Windows device manager it shows up as com port #6. If I connect to that com port and try to read a register in software from https://www.st.com/en/embedded-software/stsw-stpm001.html, I get an error. After 10 seconds or so the red LED goes out. I do not have anything connected besides the USB port.    

Hello everyone, I’m having an issue reading the current sense (CS) output from a VND7040 using an STM32G473 ADC. When driving a DC motor with PWM: • At ~50% duty cycle, I measure around 500 mV on the CS signal (after RC filter) using an oscilloscope• At 100% duty cycle, the voltage drops to around 0 mV I’ve locked the internal multiplexer so the CS output corresponds only to the channel driving the motor.Also sen is always on at 3.3v. Vcc is stable at around 13V.Also have the gnd filter with diode and resistor recommended on the application document. The CS pin is connected through an RC filter to the ADC input (schematic attached). However, the voltage behavior seems inconsistent — especially at 100% PWM where I’d expect a higher or steady value since current is continuous. Observations: On the oscilloscope, the CS signal looks like pulses at 50% PWM (which average to ~500 mV after the capacitor) At 100% PWM, the filtered voltage goes near zero Questions: Shouldnt it be linear w

I am currently working on a row-scanning LED matrix application using STP16DP05 and a NXP imxrt1064 MCU. I’m encountering some synchronization issues and would appreciate some clarity on the following: 1. OE (Output Enable) and Data Transfer Correlation: Is there a strict correlation between Data Transfer (Clock/SDA) and the OE pin? Specifically, can I keep OE enabled (pulled Low) while shifting in new data and pulsing the Latch (LE) pin? I am trying to determine if OE must be disabled (High) during the entire transfer-to-latch sequence because if i keep OE grounded all the time, I'm seeing unexpected behavior on LED display. 2. Brightness Control Alternatives to PWM: Are there recommended methods for implementing brightness control other than standard PWM? I am looking for techniques that will be implementable with SPI as that is the protocol im using for data transfer. 3. I am using a L6470 and everything is working fine with one exception. When I do the initialization of the step mode and configuration registers, if the SW input is low, then the initialization does not work. If the SW input is high, then everything works fine. The signal levels on the SW input are compliant with the Vdd levels (3.3V). Looking for any insight. Tom

But, in a 20-30 units production, How can I flash it? Is there a special tool to flash it by i2c? I am developing a solution using a STWBC2-HP tx running from a 24VDC supply to drive a STWLC99 rx and need to use the STSC protocol to achieve 50~100W. This is for bespoke power transfer rather than a conventional charger. I am basing the design on the steval-wbc2tx50 datasheet with ratings upgraded for the extra power. Also referring to '100w-wireless-charging-solution-based-on-stwbc2-hp-and-stwlc99-rayna-wang.pdf' from ST's website.Does the STSC protocol require Qi1.3 (ie does it need STSAFE-A110) and how do I enable this?Do I just need to configure the current and voltage parameters via the UART for this power level?Thanks.
