Previously, I used this delay function in inline assembler in my projects (on Cortex M3, M4): static inline void delay_m4(uint32_t cnt){ asm volatile( "1: SUBS %0,#1" "\n\t" " bne 1b" :"=r" (cnt) : "0" (cnt) ); } Now I'm trying to add this function to a project on a Cortex M0+ microcontroller (STM32G0XX).The compiler gives me this error message:Error: instruction not supported in Thumb16 mode -- `subs r3,#1'I'm sure this is a compiler error because:1) the documentation for the Cortex M0+ "PM0223" lists the subs instruction as available;2) looking through the assembly listings of other Cortex M0+ projects, I see thatthe subs instruction is used constantly. Hi,this is a small but annoying little bug: Sometimes after running code generation, apparently the STM32CubeMX application keeps some files open in the "cmake" subdirectory. This then prevents me from modifying or deleting (to force re-generation on the next code generation run) the files. It also interferes with my Post Generation user script which modifies those files.This can be seen e.g. via ProcessExplorer:It would be helpful if STM32CubeMX would close all file handles after code generation, ideally before calling the post generation user scripts.Thanks!

Hi,I’m working with an STM32C031 and have written bare-metal firmware based on the CubeMX-generated framework. When I compile in Debug mode, the firmware uses about 79% of the available flash. Switching to Release mode reduces this to around 45%, which is a big improvement.I’d like to further minimize code size while still retaining as much debugging capability as possible.A couple of questions if someone could advise:1. What techniques and/or compiler/linker options do you recommend?2. where and how do I set any such settings? I assume in CMakeLists.txt? but not sure.Thank you

Hello!I'm trying out the new STM32CubeIDE extensions for VSCode and have generated a CMake project using CubeMX. I'm unable to setup my project as I get this error:I don't know what JSON file it is referring to as there are none in my project except the auto-generated CMakePresets.json, but I don't think that's the issue since I get the same error even if I remove that file.I have tried to re-install the extensions and restart VSCode with no luck.   

I'm using "STM32CubeIDE for Visual Studio Code" on Ubuntu 22.04.  I have a situation where I'm making a driver for a chip where it very much benefits me to make the driver into a class and instantiate several instances of it.Generally speaking, what are the best practices here, if I still want to use the CubeMX code generation?At the moment, here's what I'm doing:Add `CXX` to the languages in the `./CMakeLists.txt` file.  Also add the driver.cpp file to the target_sources() directive in `./CmakeLists.txt`. Change the file extension of main.c to main.cppChange the ./cmake/stm32cubemx/CMakeLists.txt to reference the main.cpp fileI was planning on automating this with a pre and post script which would do a `mv main.cpp main.c` and `mv main.c main.cpp`. As my project has morphed I have started from a STM32F103, moved up to a G431, then a F446.With a few #defines and tweaks I have a shared main app code base with identical project structures for each of the processor types (that makes it easy to switch between MCU boards as when whilst doing code tests).All theseSTM32CubeIDE projects have Runtime library = Reduced C, and "do not use default libraries" is ticked. All build fine.All used CubeMX to generate the appropriate sources etc.., all have 99.9% identical CubeIDE project structures.As a stepping stone to a STM32F723 I am bodging up a port to an STM32H723, but so far have been unsuccessful in getting it to link. CubeProgrammer doesn't work with OpenJFX 11, but OpenJFX 8 cannot handle HiDPI screen, which makes Cube Programmer almost illegible.Since you were able to release several new versions in the past months, could you please also update to Java 11, or fix the HiDPI issues yourself?

Where to start...I have mave made a bootloader (done this before), which is placed in the low end of the flash memory. The application is in the subsequent flash.My board has a USB port and a DIP switch for forcing the BOOT input pin high. When I flip the DIP switch on, and power the board, I can connect STM32CubeProgrammer to the internal DFU bootloader via the USB port. I can also upload my application through the USB port. But when I try to upload my own bootloader, it fails. This is the output from STM32CubeProgrammer:However, if I connect an ST-LINK programmer to the board, I can upload the very same file with no issues. Hi,This is for STM32U5 and STM32H7 series MCUs.I was starting to use ThreadX because it looked like it was preferred over FreeRTOS. Now it looks like it is going the other way FreeRTOS is preferred over ThreadX ... or so I read/watched.I liked ThreadX with FileX because they seemed better integrated than FreeRTOS and say FATfs. But I don't have a lot of experience with RTOS in general. I've used a bit of FreeRTOS before but it looked like ThreadX was a better option for STM32U5 series MCU (in cubeMX).The video I watched and info on going back to FreeRTOS  with separate FileX (from STM) said that it was going to happen by the end of 2025. I prefer to stay with one RTOS, whichever is going to make my life easier but I also need a file system.We're at the end of 2025 so I wonder if this switch from ThreadX to FreeRTOS with separate FileX has already been implemented in the new STM32cubeIDE v 2.0? Hi,I haven’t used SWO functionality before, but I now need it to stream real-time data.I’m using VS Code with the STM32CubeIDE extension, but I haven’t found any options to configure and display real-time data (via SWO) in a VS Code window. How can this be done?If this isn’t possible in VS Code, what alternatives would you recommend? Ideally, I’d like to output both text messages and real-time numeric data, with the data automatically plotted on a chart. What is the best way to achieve this?Thank you

I am looking to use Ceedling for a unit test framework and want to use STM32CubeIDE's Unit Test support for running it in the IDE. I have successfully set up Ceedling and am able to run from command line, but it would be nice to at least understand how to run in the IDE. I have read over a couple different tutorials for setting up unit testing in the IDE, but haven't found guidance on addressing the issue(s) I have; perhaps I am not approaching the problem correctly.  I use Ceedling to set up the initial unit test folders and project.yml file in my project folder structure.  From searching around the internet, it would seem that I need to set up a Run Configuration specifically for running tests.  I got the Eclipse C/C++ Unit Testing Support plugin, created a Unit Test Run Configuration for my project and added details for Ceedling. The X-CUBE-AZRTOS-H7RS middleware is missing the setting to change the USBX System Stack Size which in turn means that the USBX_MEMORY_STACK_SIZE define in the app_usbx.h file can not be changed from its default of 1024. And because the define is not in a USER CODE section, any manual change will be overridden when re-generating code in CubeMX.Here is an example when using USBX host stack, but it's the same for the device stack.STM32H7RSxx:STM32H7A3ZIT:

Hi everyone,I'm currently porting the App of STM32U5 SBSFU example to CubeMX and "smooth" is not the word I would use to describe the process.Namely, the SBSFU example includes Bootloader, Loader and App projects with memory map being in separate centralized header files included by all these projects. These files (region_defs and flash_layout) are not fully polished (some bugginess and inconsistencies) but they do ease the memory management a lot by using defines and not hardcoding; these defines are then used in projects' linker files in order to define memory regions.In contrast, CubeMX just provides a UI representation of the memory space where users can input all the memory bounds, be it flash or RAM. The trouble is, we can only enter numbers and not constants, so generated code is full of hardcoded address bounds.This does not play well with SBSFU Example - since these address bounds are not only used in LD files, but rather for defining FLASH areas, SAU regions etc etc, it is an

I had several versions of the IDE installed on my machine but none of them could connect to the internet to update or load code. I keep getting the error message "In order to benefit from best experience a network connection is required. Do you want to set connection parameter now?". At first I thought it was because Norton was blocking the the applications through the firewall but I uninstalled Norton and installed the IDE again but that didn't fix the problem. I installed the IDE on my brothers machine which doesn't have Norton and it worked fine on there. I also have used different networks in the past 2 months so that cant be it. Can anyone please help?

Hi,I'm a teacher, not a NASA technician, and for years I've been using STM32CubeMX with Nucleo series boards to teach my classes of 16-17 year-olds the basics of microcontroller programming. After a few years, I'd prepared numerous examples of increasing difficulty, with the MX section being a key component. Along with the exercises, I'd prepared the lessons on slides. If the IDE version changed, I'd have to make a few small adjustments. Now, in the labs, some technicians or colleagues have decided to install version 2.0. The difficulties in integrating the MX environment have increased exponentially. I have two solutions: either ask the technicians to ALSO install version 1.19 (an issue that involves extra work, money, time, and arguments with colleagues), or I'll spend a few weeks adapting the exercises (the first three took me two days) and rewriting the lessons. Hello,I have been trying to configure the ethernet RMII with PTP synchro on cube MX. The idea is to link the PPS signal to trigger the timer. I can't manage to get the remap to be done to the ETH_PTP_PPS as is not displayed in the dropdown. According to the same cube mx that option should appear. On a side note when I enable the RMII_PTP_syncro I also loose all the config information of ethernet which i find rather strange. Do any of you have any suggestions on what's the proper way of configuring this? Is this even possible or is just a bug of the prompt that implies is possible? Thanks in advance ;)
