STM32 MCUs Software development tools

I've just bought a NUCLEO-F103RB board, and installed STM32CubeIDE 1.19.0.I've gone through the following steps:Made a simple application (File->New->STM32 Project)PA5 configured as a GPIO output (for the green LED LD2), and PC13 as a GPIO input (for the blue button B1)The c code is a simple "if button pressed then turn on LED, otherwise turn LED off". All works as expected.I then double clicked on the ioc file to use the GUI to edit the pin configuration, and under Pinout & Configuration I enabled USART2 (changing it from mode Disable to Asynchronous). All other parameters were left untouched.After using the cog icon (Device Configuration Tool Code Generation) I rebuilt the project and used Run As to download it to the board. As usual the console in the IDE reports "Download in Progress, File download complete, Verifying..., Download verified successfully", but then repeatedly prints "Target is not responding, retrying...". I assumed I'd made a mistake in enabling this

Does anyone have experience with integrating hierarchical state machines (C-code) with a STM32CubeIDE project?For example, the QP/C software by Quantum Leaps generates state machine C-code based on a graphical modeling tool. If the state machine diagram changes the C-code is re-generated: https://www.state-machine.com/qpc/index.htmlHow can this capability be integrated with the STM32CubeIDE?In particular, if the state machine code is updated, how is the project source updated?Also, if the STM32CubeMX files (.ioc) is updated and the project source is re-generated, how can the state machine code be protected? The extension signals the conflict as in subject and suggests to disable intellisense altogether.MS C++ (cpptools) is a very popular extension required by many others, so disabling it is not an option.Another solution might be to disable the individual stm32-cube-clangd extension, but does it have any drawback? What's the point of having an useless and incompatible extension?

Hello,when doing code generation by CubeMX, it seems, that there's no Pin-remapping done in certain cases, at STM32C092FCP6.In my case, I chose SPI2 in master full-duplex mode. SPI2_CLK is on PB8 at Pin1. A remapping from PB7 to PB8 has to be done by setting PINMUX4 in SYSCFG->CFGR3 register. I thought this would be done by CubeMX code generation, but i didn't. The same is with SPI1 SCK, at Pin 20 with PB6/PB3. Is this the desired behaviour?

Hi, There is a blatant bug in the STM32CubeIDE that has costed me a board iteration on a professional product. It says that pin PA3 is positive comparator input. When it isn't. Look here This is what the datasheet says.

Hi all, I have an STM32H743 project that I've been working on. I've worked on a fair amount of projects in STM32CubeIDE in the past, but now I have a problem I haven't encountered before: the linker is putting my .bss section in flash as well as RAM. I'm not sure why an uninitialized section would be placed in flash... I've attached the output from the build analyzer as well as my linker script. The script is almost the default, except that I've added D2/D3 RAM and have moved stack & heap to DTCM. I've used very similar scripts in other projects and BSS ends up only in RAM in those projects.Can anyone find what I'm doing wrong? Thanks! 

Hello, I saw a thread titled Your Input Matters: How Do You Use STM32Cube Examples?And I tried to enter to the examples selector of CubeIde (I never tried before).When I open the selector, my computer takes several minutes with the cpu fan at highest speed. After this, I tried to select a board to reduce posibilities, and happened the same, but I had a memory full error.The only way to continue is to kill CubeIde. It's impossible to close it safely.But now CubeIde does not start. It ask me the workspace, and shows the picture of screenshot I attached.If I select a different workspace, it works. And now, my questions are...Can I restore my workspace? Seems all project files are present.Do I need more memory?My system is:Linux mint 21.3, Linux 5.15.0-153Intel i7-8700K @3.7GHz (6 core, 12 threads)16GB RAMCubeIde 1.15.0 Thanks for your reply    

Hi everyone,I've a strange problem when I write to an external flash memory (S29GL512T) throught a STM32F767 MCU and a custom external loader loaded in the STM32CubeProgrammer.After debugging the external loader several times, I've found that the contents of the buffer that CubeProgrammer gives me for the write operation has partially invalid data. I have done this test in 2 contexts:Using FMC to programm external flash. In this context I have invalid data before programming the external flash. Without using FMC. Hello everyone,I want to make a usb connection using USB_OTG_FS_DP and USB_OTG_FS_DM pins on the STM32U575 board. When I tried it with the examples found on the internet, it didn't work. When I tried the same method on the STM32F401 board, it was enough to select only USB_OTG_FS -> Device Only and Middleware -> USB_DEVICE -> virtual com port. What basic settings do I need to make to see my STM32U575 board as a virtual com port on the computer? I'm not very experienced in this. Thank you in advance for your help. Also, when I use the ux_device_cdc_acm example in CubeIDE, it does not appear as a virtual com port.

I'm configuring an STM32G031, using the STM32CubeMX perspective in STM32CubeIDE.  I want to optimise for low power consumption.  My device uses the ADC and I see the ADC has a minimum acceptable frequency, 140kHz according to the data sheet (data sheet table 57, fADC must be at least 0.14MHz).I've configured the clock so that SYSCLK = 2MHz (HSI 16 MHz oscillator, divided by 8).  The ADC clock is also shown as 2MHz.  That makes sense.But in the ADC configuration panel, the only clock options I can select are "sync divided by 1" or "async divided by 1".  I expected to be able to select higher dividers, down to "async / 8" (which would be 250kHz).  I can't even select "sync/async divided by 2" (which would be 1MHz).  All those slower options are greyed out, and when I mouse over them there's a tooltip that says something like "prescaler does not respect fADC fmin fmax conditions" or something like that.Is this a configuration error in CubeMX, or hav

in app_freertos.c, the hook prototypes are not all defined as __weak.  This requires either deleting those prototypes or rewriting them with the __weak attribute to avoid multiple definitions when they're actually used in user code.  I generally do not like to modify the IOC provided code unless it's main.c.  Even though there are user sections, I'd like to have to modify as few things as possible to get a working projectI do use the hook prototypes frequently, but the hook definitions are autogenerated and not in a user area.Please change your code to add the __weak attribute, as shown in the segment below.  I've got them commented out because I transplanted the definitions into the user area so I would at least keep them./* Hook prototypes */ //__weak void configureTimerForRunTimeStats(void); //__weak unsigned long getRunTimeCounterValue(void); //__weak void vApplicationStackOverflowHook(xTaskHandle xTask, signed char *pcTaskName); //__weak void vApplicationM

STM32CubeMx version is 6.12.1.The power and thermal option is not available for STM32G474xx devices project in STM32CubeMx.The same is available for the STM32U5Xxx devices project. How to set the wake-up modes if the power and thermal option is not available?

Hello, I am using the STM32CubeMonitor software for the first time and find it very helpful. My question is about the root cause for erroneous zero values in the time series displayed by the STM32CubeMonitor software. It's first first use was monitoring the joystick x/y displacement signals of the Adafruit Gamepad QT. Question: What is the root cause for the phenomenon of erroneous zero values? Are parameters in my Basic Flow configuration incorrect? I'm developing a LoRaWAN device using STM32CubeIDE with the LoRaWAN stack (SubGHz_Phy and LoRaMac) on an STM32WLE5JCI6 microcontroller. When I try to enable the AS923 region, I'm consistently getting the debug error DEBUG: Region not defined in MW, which prevents the stack from initializing correctly.I've taken the following steps to troubleshoot the issue:Project Settings: I've confirmed that -DREGION_AS923 is added to the compiler's defined symbols and that other region-specific files, like RegionAU915.c, are excluded from the build.Code Modification: I changed the switch statements in Region.c to use direct function calls with case LORAMAC_REGION_AS923: instead of macros like AS923_...(). This resolved the compiler warnings, but the runtime error persists.Based on the logs, LmHandlerInit attempts to initialize with region 9, so the value seems to be passed correctly. The ST docs all refer me back to using HAL with CubeMX however I see many suggesting staying away from it.I could not find where to download and use libraries such as CMSIS for my STM32F407G Disco board Are the libraries I need already in my CubeIDE project somewhere? I rather not use only bare metal, so CMSIS would be the way to go right?

Using Stm32CubeIDE 1.3.0...When I Copy and Paste a project in the Project Explorer (and name differently), it does copy the project. I also renamed the CubeMX IOC file to match the new project name. Then I did a Clean and a new Build. However, when I go to Debug, I get a number.To verify that the new project is using the new project paths I do a "Close" on the first project, then rename the old project in Windows Explorer.Builds fine, but when debugging it is complains that it can't find source files. It is still looking for the source files in the original project.... I changed the source lookup path in the Debug Configurations > Source to look in this project, and it still cannot find the files.And when checking if there are any files in the new project's Debug folders, they are indeed empty. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?

Are there any alternative extensions with similar functionality?Regarding peripheral debugging, while I can see registers for peripherals like GPIO and ADC on STM32CUBE REGISTERS TREE, I cannot find the Cortex-M core peripherals like the SCB (System Control Block) and NVIC (Nested Vectored Interrupt Controller) . How can I view these?
